(I guess I will just continue then…)

"Jay!" Henry smiled at her, and Jade could not believe what she saw. It was actually him. "I heard you would be here. So, you're a princess now?" He laughed and held out his arms for a hug.

Jade hugged him and playfully hit him on the arm. "Oh, stop it Henry. You know very well that I'm not a princess."

Henry smirked. "Well, you're as good as one already. The prince must be crazy if he doesn't choose you."

Jade blushed. "Shut up. Besides, the rest of the girls are great. He could as well choose any of them."

"I don't believe you. And besides, how would you know that they are great? I have barely seen you talk to another girl for as long as I have known you." Henry raised an eyebrow.

"You're stupid," Jade decided. "And a liar. I have… friends. Or, well… at least one. I think. I haven't seen her for a while."

Henry laughed again. "You really haven't changed, Jay."

She tilted her head. "And neither have you. What are you even doing here?"

"I work here now. As a guard. Great, huh?"

Jade was a bit confused. "Yeah, sure. That's… great."

Marcus had followed the conversation with interest. "So… wait. You two know each other?"

Jade laughed a bit. "Yeah, I guess you could say that. "We are… we were in the army together," she corrected. "Marcus, this is Henry. Henry, this is Marcus, my… not so dear friend." She blinked at him, referring to their conversation earlier.

Marcus rolled his eyes. "Really, Jade? Now?" But he laughed, and she was glad that he had finally dropped the 'miss'. It was truly annoying.

Talin bowed to his mother and stepped away as the dance ended, walking off of the floor as he looked for someone to dance with. He didn’t want to dance with the ambassador just yet, she seemed busy talking away anyways.

@ShadeStar

Zaera stood by the refreshments table taking small bites of a cookie before it was completely gone. She was trying not to talk to any of her family today.

@ShadeStar

"Hello," Zaera nodded to the other girl. She recognized her as one of the contestants, but couldn't remember her name, "So how are you enjoying the ball?"

@gracehustle

Talin fixed his jacket and made his way over to the first girl he saw that wasn’t busy talking, which happened to be Zia. He cleared his throat as he neared, smiling at her and waiting for her to notice him there.

He chuckled and bowed to her slightly, extending a hand with a smile, “Mind If I dance with you? You can say no if you really don’t feel like it, I won’t blame you.” The Prince was clearly nervous, but he tried not to show it too much.

@ElderGod-Icefire

She hesitantly took his hand. "I may as well. Although I need to warn you that i might step on your toes, so I apologise beforehand." She said with a tiny, nervous smile.

Cassie had since gone back to being a point of attention, chatting with anyone who came up to her when she noticed a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye. She finished her conversation with a couple French ladies and turned to see the figure fully and she froze.

One of the guards looked oddly familiar. Was that? No. It couldn't be. Jackson? The guard's eyes swept the room again and locked onto her. The entire room seemed to go silent and they just stared at each other.

Jackson had left 3 years ago when he was pulled for the draft. Cassie had a massive crush on him at the time so she was heartbroken, begging him not to go. But he did. Over the years, she got over him and hadn't seen him since. She wasn't even sure he was still alive. But here he was. And now he was walking towards her. When he eventually reached her, he smiled. "Hey firefly."

@gracehustle

“It’s fine,” He replied, walking her out to the dance floor and whispering into her ear, “If you need to, just step on my feet and I’ll lead.” There was a smile on his face that made it hard to decide if he was joking or not, leaving it up to her to take him up on his offer or not.
