“I think I’ve heard that,” She agreed with a nod, “But I don’t think we’d have to go up that far to find snow.” Her eyes closed for a moment and she thought back to the stories of snow she had heard from travelers, who described it as cold and white, swirling through the air and piling on the ground in sheets that made traveling much more difficult.

@WriteOutofTime

"My father used to travel, before he and my mother met," he said distractedly, "he didn't tell me much about it, only that it was exciting. I always wanted to see everything…"

@gracehustle

Andrea smiled and nodded, “Well then, I guess we’ll have to see everything. Then the question is, where to start in our adventure of seeing everything?”

@WriteOutofTime

"All we need to do is make sure we never go back somewhere we've already been," he said. "Easier said than done though. If we hop aboard another ship, who knows? They could take us right back home."

@gracehustle

“That’s true,” She nodded with a shrug, “Maybe we could ask around and see what ships are going where and then just hitch a ride on one of the ones that’s not going back to where we were before?”

@gracehustle

She thought for a moment and nodded, “True, and if we got caught again I don’t want to find out what they do to women stowaways.” She went silent as she thought of what the could do. Just asking to become part of the crew could work, but only really for Daso, unless they found someone who was fine with women on board.

@WriteOutofTime

Daso's mouth twisted as he considered their options. Stowingaway twice in a row was really risky. They'd gotten lucky this time, but would fate be so kind on the next trip? Shaking his head, he strummed his instrument once. "Let's not stress about it too much," he decided with a gap-toothed smile. "Let's just enjoy the ride."

@gracehustle

She smiled and nodded, “I can do that, especially if you teach me more songs.” Her eyes drifted out to the water before she looked back at him with a happy smile, already enjoying the rest of the trip.

@WriteOutofTime

"Sure!" he said, continuing to pluck absently on the instrument. "Hmm…what type of song do you want to sing? I know a few romance ones, a few happy ones, and some darker ones."

@gracehustle

(Sure)
timeskip to the evening
Andrea hummed quietly to herself and went through the words to the songs in her head, working on fixing a hole in a shirt the first mate had ordered to do. She glanced around and looked for Daso, wondering if they were going to sing any of the songs for the crew tonight.

@WriteOutofTime

Daso strolled along the deck, gazing at the setting sun and plucking his instrument. The captain approached him with a half smile. "The crew is calling for your musical talent again tonight. Are you willing?"

"I will never turn down an opportunity to entertain," he chirped. "I'll even have a special guest sing along with me, newly released from boat prison."

"Boat prison," the captain repeated with a reluctant laugh. "Sure."

Daso hurried off to find Andrea.

@gracehustle

Andrea was sitting nestled between two barrels, a empty crate serving as a seat as she patched up the shirt. Her eyes didn’t even glance up when someone walked past her, too focused to care or bother to look.

@WriteOutofTime

"Hey Andrea!" Daso waved a hand in front of her face. "Hellooo?" He laughed. "It's time to put your newly acquired singing skills to use."

@gracehustle

“Hm?” She looked up when a hand was waved in her face, a small smile breaking over her lips when she saw who it was, “Time to sing?” Looking back at her work, she tied off the string and nodded, setting it on one of the barrels as she stood up, “Well, let’s go dazzle them then.”

@gracehustle

Andrea couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head, “You're something else Daso.” The growing crowd of pirates waiting to listen to them made her stomach drop slightly, but she didn’t say anything, just watched the crowd, “What’s song are we starting with?”

@WriteOutofTime

"We can start with Red Roses," he suggested, "since that's the one you learned first. Still remember it, I hope?" He played the first few chords of the song, making sure his instrument was still in tune.

@gracehustle

“Of course I remember it, it’s an amazing song.” She looked to him and watched as he made sure his instrument was in tune, asking silently if he was going to start or if she was.

@WriteOutofTime

"We can start together, then," he said. Silently, he mouthed, "One, two, go." Then he began the song: "Oh my old mother she wrote to me…"

@gracehustle

My darling son come home from sea,” She continued with him, closing her eyes both so she could focus on the lyrics and so she wasn’t as intimidated by the crowd of pirates.

@WriteOutofTime

Their voices blended together to form a smooth harmony, rising like the embers of the fire and filling the night sky. Daso smiled at his audience, pouring his heart into every word.

@gracehustle

A small smile formed on her lips as she sang but she kept her eyes closed, voice clear and strong as she ignored the audience and focused on the song and melody from the instrument.

@WriteOutofTime

They finished the first song after another minute or so. Daso finished with a flourish, dramatically strumming the instrument. The crowd of rowdy pirates roared appreciatively, clapping loudly. He heard quite a few bravo's and well done's, but his favorite compliment came from one of the navigators, who said, "We should have them stowaways more often, particularly of the female species." He laughed, strumming the chords for the next song.

@gracehustle

Andrea opened her eyes once the song ended and looked over at Daso, a happy smile on her face. She rolled her eyes when she heard the navigators comment but didn’t say anything to him, instead talking to Daso, “Which one are we doing next?”

@gracehustle

She nodded and her smile grew as she waited for the starting notes. Not knowing this one quite as well, she let him start the first line before joining in. Her eyes flicked over the crowd momentarily before she closed them again and focused on the words.

@WriteOutofTime

This song was much faster and more fun, and even though their voices weren't as harmonic, the crew joined in on the second voice. The song became filled with drunken words and laughter until it was hardly recognizable.
