John was sobbing, but they turned to tears of joy when he saw his son -his wonderful, perfect son- was alive. “Alvor!” John grinned happily, joy clear as day in his eyes. But he held back just a little, noticing something -what, John didn’t know- between his child and the stranger hugging him.
Rowan stared at him in disbelief, her tears of anguish suddenly changing into tears of pure happiness. She threw herself around Alvor, holding him tightly and crying into his shoulder, though no sadness weighed her down anymore. “Alvor, I- I love you, I love you, IloveyouIloveyouIloveyou.” Alive. Alvor was alive. Rowan’s prayers were answered. The love of her life was truly alive.
Halo turned into John, holding onto him tightly, crying tears of joy. His eyes were soft as he cried. He was so relieved his son was alive.
Alvor was so surprised. He had thought it was the end. He kissed her lips gently, sobbing as he held onto her. "I love you too." he whispers as he kisses the other gently. He looked to his parents and beamed gently. Before he could forget though. "Dad? Papa? I need your help." he says softly.
Rowan couldn’t stop smiling, kissing him back without any regard for those in the room with them. She knew first impressions mattered, but… Gosh, Alvor was alive. “I love you,” Rowan murmured, her eyes twinkling brightly.
John watched the interaction between the two, biting the inside of his lip to keep his jaw from dropping. My son just kissed that girl. My son just kissed someone. He was so distracted by that thought -still trying to figure out how he felt about his son having a significant other- that he almost missed Alvor’s words. “O-Of course, Alvor, what do you need?” John replied, completely ready to go get whatever painkillers or herbs or food or water or whatever he might need.
Halo wiped away his tears, still quietly sniffling. He looked so happy. His eyes were gentle, wiping away his tears as he listened to what his son needed. He cleared his throat before nodding."Of course, Alvor."
Alvor took a deep breath, "Dad, Papa. This is Rowan. She has stayed with me the entire week. She is my light, my hope." he gently took her good hand. "Her magic kept me alive for a longer period of time. I'd like to pay her back for everything she has done for me." He says quietly. "Could you guys heal her…?" he begs softly.
Halo could not stop the gentle smile gracing his lips as he listened to his son. Gosh… He was so lucky. He walked forward, gently kissing the top of his sons head. "I think that could be arranged… Rowan… Thank you for being with my son… Helping him." he whispers.
Rowan blushed immediately, smiling at Alvor. He was so considerate. Here Alvor was, practically raised from the dead, yet he was focused on her pain. She smiled at Alvor’s dad -Halo- and replied softly, “It-It was really my honor, to be with Alvor. I-I should be thanking you,” Rowan looked down at her left hand, too drained to merely pick it up off her lap. “I’m just glad that Alvor’s alive…”
John nodded slowly, pursing his lips. It’s not that he wouldn’t help Rowan—he would gladly help the girl who saved his son’s life. But Alvor… John’s son now had someone with him. They clearly loved each other, it was evident from the way they looked at each other. He couldn’t decide whether to be elated or nervous for his child, but he mostly focused on happiness becuase he was alive.
Alvor gently kissed her cheek and looks at his dad and sighs softly. "Thank you, dad." He mutters softly. He was tired, but he was glad the other was with him, along with his parents. He fell back into his bed and sighed softly, looking absolutely exhausted.
Rowan smiled softly, brushing some hair from Alvor’s face as she mumbled, “Why don’t we get some rest.” Indeed, Rowan was also exhausted from an unrestful sleep because she had been worried about Alvor.
John nodded in agreement, “Yes, I think rest is in order.” He smiled, then glanced at Halo. He wanted to talk to his husband soon in private, about all that happened. But first he wanted to make sure Alvor was definitely okay.
Alvor nods and leans into Rowan's gentle touch for assurance. He smiled a little and sighed softly. "Sleep sounds great right about now." he whispers as he settles into the bed.
Halo gently took John's hand. "We'll let both of you rest." he says quietly. He guides John out of the Hospital room and into the hall. He leaned into John, relieved his son was alive, and that their family would not be torn apart. He was unsure about Rowan though. She seemed very sweet. Then again, it could be his fathering instincts.
Rowan couldn’t bring herself to move away from Alvor, so she ended up nestled herself right next to him in bed and closing her eyes contently. We’re both safe, we’re both happy, we’re both alive…
As soon as they were out. in the hall, John leaned against Halo as the other man leaned against him. “I can’t believe it…” Indeed, John was having a difficult time still believing how lucky they had gotten with Alvor’s life. He also couldn’t believe that Alvor had fallen in love… Right. That.
Alvor kissed her neck gently, his hand gently tracing her good arm, his eyes shut peacefully. He was alive. And he was with her. His beautiful, loving, kind Rowan. She was someone he would give his life for. No matter the cost. "I love you…" he whispers, glad to have her in his embrace.
Halo held onto his beloved John. Gosh… They had gone through so much together. Before they got married and after. He kissed John's forehead. "He's alive…" he whispers. "Our son is alive…" He whispers. "And our son… He's in love John, the most beautiful kind of love…" he whispers, playing with strands of John's hair.
Rowan smiled, sleep tugging at her. She hadn’t been sleeping very good the past few nights because she had been worried over Alvor, and now she could finally be at peace. “I… love… you… too…” She slipped into sleep in Alvor’s loving arms not a moment later…
John leaned into Halo for support. “He is alive…” John repeated, almost to affirm it for himself. “Wow, Halo…” It could’ve been so much more worse. They were blessed by what happened. “I just… our son is… in love.” John bit his lower lip. He knew it was probably his fatherly instincts coming in and clouding his judgement, but… “We don’t even know her yet.” And yet our son is in love with her.
Alvor made sure she was comfortable before curling around her, making sure they were both warm before slowly dozing off with her, lips lips pressing against her forehead before he welcomed sleep.
Halo held onto John, his hands gently holding and caressing John, making sure that they were both there, together. He gave a soft sigh, kissing John's lips. He nods, "John, my love. Do you remember the time before we got married? We never knew each other before that time. But look at us now, my love. We're married and we have a beautiful son. Supporting him in his love life is the best we can offer. We may be seeing our baby boy grow up, but John that's the best part about being father's." He whispers, caressing John's cheek.
John kissed his back slowly, but it was as if his worry leaked into it. “What if she breaks his heart? What if she’s not a good person?” He whispered back, pulling himself a little closer to Halo. “I’m just… I’m worried. I’m really worried, we almost just lost him, Halo, I saw him dying…” John whispered, tightening his grip around Halo. It was like it all caught up to speed, and yes, thank goodness Alvor was alive but the fact that he could have died…
Halo made sure to place his assurance into the kiss, soaking away his worry before gently pulling away, his thumbs absently rubbing John's cheeks. "My love, I know that you worry for Alvor. We both do." He whispers, "But he's safe now, isn't he? He's alive, John. Our beloved son, is alive." He whispers, pressing a soft kiss to Johns forehead. "I have a feeling that Alvor chose her for a reason my love. And from the way she acted beside him, I have no doubts that they will love each other with just as much love that we share ourselves." He brushed some hair from John's hair. "That's the thing about life, John. We let him grow up. If he falls, we catch him. If they break up, we'll be there for him. Let's let him explore life and love, John. Just like we did together." He soothes, his eyes gentle as they gaze into John's.
John took a deep breath, relaxing with each kiss Halo bestowed upon him. “You’re right. He is alive, and that’s all that matters.” John smiled a little, gazing back at Halo’s eyes. “Thank you, Halo.” He leaned in to kiss the love of his life on the lips. “Thank you for being my rock throughout this storm. You know exactly what to say to comfort me.” John leaned into Halo’s chest, tucking his head in the man’s neck. “I love you.” And I’m sure Alvor loves her, and Rowan loves him back.
Halo smiled at the other and smiling gently, "Of course, my love." he whispers. He leaned into the other and sighed happily. Halo leaned into the gentle, kiss, sighing quietly in relief. "I will always be here for you, John." He whispers as he hugged the other, running his hand through the others hair. "I love you too, my angel." He soothes as he holds John close. "Now… why don't we go get some rest?"
John smiled, soaking up Halo’s comforting warmth. “Yeah, that sounds good…” He agreed softly. He was tired, considering they hadn’t had much time to rest while tethering materials for Alvor’s cure, and it was finally catching up with him. He pulled away so they could move, but his hand found Halo’s and he smiled a little bit more.
Halo nods and holds him close, running a gentle hand through John's hair. He was exhausted as well as he rests his head on top of John's. He let the other pull away and he smiled in return, kissing the back of John's hand. He walks them back into Alvors room, smiling at the sight of his sleeping son before gently guiding John to a bench pressed against the wall that extended into a small bed for guests.
John smiled at the sight of his sleeping son, looked at him and Rowan together. They looked so peaceful, and in that moment John smiled as he realized that they were indeed just like him and Halo. And maybe this Rowan wouldn’t be too bad at all. He moved to help get the bench extended, then it was only a matter of seconds before he was laying down, and his eyes drooped shut.
Halo smiled as well, before helping John with the extension. He sits on the bed, his back against the wall as he let John use his thighs as pillows, his hand running absently through Johns hair. He kissed his forehead, sighing in bliss before shutting his eyes and slowly dozing off.
John found Halo’s thighs to be very comfortable. He was still smiling as sleep spirited him into unconsciousness. He slept peacefully, his head cradled in Halo’s lap. Pure exhaustion that had brought him into the deep sleep and warded off any dreams that might’ve come.
(Alright. What now? Should we do when they heal Rowan?)
(That sounds good with me, but I was thinking it would be like a work in progress to heal Rowan since she’s got some kind of complex disease or whatever, so like it’d spread out for a couple days or so? and so like maybe I was thinking she might have a near death experience or something, idk)
(Yeah! That works! And I love near death experiences.)
(Cool, you wanna start or want me to?)
(Could you please, love?)
(Of course! :)
John awoke with a yawn, nestling his face in Halo’s abdomen. He was definitely well rested, which was probably good considering that he planned to work on healing Alvor’s new love today. Depending on how bad Rowan’s disease was, John didn’t know how hard it would be to heal them…
Rowan cracked his eyes open at the sound of a yawn. Alvor was nice and warm and alive. He tightened his grip around Alvor despite the ache in his arm and body—some days were worse than others, and today was one of the bad days. He tilted his neck a little, disappointed to find the ache spread even to there.
Halo was still asleep when John woke up before sighing and slowly waking up when he felt John shift. "Good morning, my love." He whispers gently. He ran a tired hand through John's hair, his eyes struggling to stay awake. He looked exhausted. He had kept waking up at night to make sure that Alvor was still breathing and falling back to bed.
Alvor woke up, and he was never more happy to wake up then to find out that he had his arms around his love, and his parents were resting together. He looked down to his precious Rowan. "Morning, angel…" He mutters, looking down at the other before shaking his head. "How do you feel?" He pressed a sleepy kiss to his forehead.
