There’s a nasty war going on, there was a nuclear fallout, and there is a mysterious virus going around [zombie virus])(all of our people [or most of them] are in a group together trying to survive/find other survivors/fight/etc we’ll decide)(idc if your characters have already known mine, like if you want them to be friends or acquaintances)
