Daso grabbed Jasper's arm, his face flushing. "I told you to stop hurting her! I listen to you all the damn time, why can't you listen to me once?"

"She won't shut up," Jasper hissed. "I was just making her quiet."

"I thought you cared about me," Daso said, his lower lip trembling.

Jasper wet his lips. "No, that's- that's not what I meant. I wasn't really hurting her, I was just- this isn't hurting her, not properly. I was doing this so she'd shut up so I wouldn't hurt her."

"You hurt her," he said, his eyes welling up. "You told me you wouldn't then you did anyway."

Jasper wet his lips again. "No, no, baby, that's not what I was doing. Hey, hey." He cupped Daso's cheeks. "I just wanted her to stop talking before I lost my cool. I'm calm. I'm calm. I didn't hurt her, not really. I kept my promise, alright?"

Daso shook his head. "You didn't, you didn't, you lied."

Jasper frowned. "She wanted this to happen. She wanted me to hurt her so you'd react like this. She's trying to break us up by pushing my buttons. You see that, don't you? You love me. I love you. I'd do anything for you. I was gonna go to your dad's house with you and get your sister back. Would I do that if I didn't love you?"

"You did what she wanted," he said softly, lowering his gaze. "I love you. God I –I love you. But I'm scared."

Jasper looked into his eyes, running his thumb comfortingly across his jaw. "Don't be scared. It's just me, okay? We're gonna sit here and we're gonna wait this out. And I won't do anything, I promise. Okay? I promise."

He nodded, finally relaxing into Jasper's hands. Jasper said he was safe. It must be okay. "Okay," he agreed, his voice cracking. "I trust you."

Jasper nodded and smiled. "Alright." He sat down on the bed with a sigh.

Daso sat on the bed beside him, still trembling slightly. He felt like he hadn't slept in weeks. He hugged tight to Jasper's arm.

Adrielle snickered at the "touching" display. She stood and started to pace, biting her lip in concentration. She ignored the two in the room with her and walked over to the door, her eyes narrowed in anger when she saw Jake.

Jasper closed his eyes and grew very still. He might've looked like he was sleeping, which is what he wanted. Every muscle in his body was ready for self-defense if necessary. He almost prayed he'd have a reason to bash Pyro's head in.

(And she hoped that he would start a fight lol)

Adrielle quickly grew bored. She started to kick at the door, scowling. She just wanted to make noise, and she was bored out of her mind.
