She made a face. "Okay, whatever." She pulled off her hood, hoping her delicately pointed ears would be enough for her to pretend to be magical.

Marya stared at him, wanting to cut his throat, but she had to play the part. Putting on a fake smile, she said, "My name's Marya."

North eyed the commotion happening at the bar, and was surprised when she was suddenly confronted by a group of men. "ID please?"
"I've never had need for ID," North retorts.
"We need proof that you are a magical."
"Well then, what's your least favourite animal?" When the man speaking replies, she turns into a lion, then back to herself. "Enough proof?"

Klara walked slowly to the tent camp and handed Aleksai the papers, frowning at him through her wrinkled, old eyes. He smiled and took them from her hands, leafing through before dropping them into a pile.
"Your service for Ovek will never be forgotten, Madame Mayor." he bowed and gave Klara a grin before walking away.

Klara started talk, clearing her throat as Marya watched.
"Aleksai has taken over my position as mayor. I want you all to stand up to him. Even if we die, we will die honorably. Aleksai will not overpow-." the ringing gunshot could be heard all around and Klara fell to the floor, blood seeping from the shot in her head. Marya drew in a quick breath, wrapping her shawl around herself as her eyes widened in horror.
