“You got Golden Retrievers?” She’s just about over the moon now. The second she sees the pictures of the little balls of fluff, she falls head over heels in love. “Aw, aren’t they just the cutest little babies?” She’s always had a soft spot for goldens and these two pups are no exception. All of the cooing and the excitement causes Kreja to get all wound up again. He barks and jumps up onto one of the chairs before climbing onto the table. She scoops him up and shows him the pictures on the phone. “What do you think, handsome? Do you want two new friends?” While Kreja may not understand what’s going on, he does know that the humans are excited and that makes him excited. “We’ll have to think of a perfect name for Rosy’s sister.”
"Yes!! They are just the sweetest little girls and I want mooooore! I wanted the whole lot of 'em but then I realized that's a whole lotta pups so I didn't." He smiled a bit. "But these two girls are going to change us for the good, I just know it." He reached over and gave Kreja and Ava a hug, leaning his head against the latter's head. "I also wanted to thank you for these last few months. I know I've just been all over the place and I've just been a total asshole to you. It's bad karma for us, and I want to clear it up between us. I love you, Ava." He pulled away and set his hand on hers, squeezing it gently.
“Never ask me to stop you from buying more puppies because I know that I’d be encouraging you to get even more,” She laughs, her eyes bright. A few years ago she started to volunteer at the animal shelter and it’s been almost impossibly hard not to adopt each and every animal there. With a smile, she rests her head against his shoulder. “These puppies are going to make our lives even better.” She can’t wait to actually meet the little ones and shower them with love. “It’s been a rough few months but we made it through them. Hey, you being an ass is just making us even for all of the times I’ve been one.” She gently squeezes his hand back. “I love you too, Cameron.” Kreja barks and sloppily licks each of their cheeks to say that he loves them too.
Cameron laughed softly and leaned his head against hers, smiling warmly down at her and Kreja. He leaned over and pressed a kiss to her lips gently, then gave one to Kreja for being such a good boy, and return for his love.
"You know, Ava, I think I'm okay. I know I'll never stop grieving Lily but now I can move on. It's what she what have wanted, I think. I can be happy and let her go." He squeezed Ava closer with a soft, happy sigh, shutting his eyes. He felt so light and happy with his new girlfriend, with her nestled up in his arm.
"Where do you think we should go from here?" He suddenly asked softly.
Ava nuzzles the top of Kreja’s head. “You are such a ham,” She tells him affectionately. With a soft smile, she kisses Cameron back. “I’m really happy to hear that. Lily was such an amazing dog and she loved you so much. I know that she would have wanted you to be happy.” The Saint Bernard was the sweetest dog in the world and she always made those around her happy, even during hard times. She leans lightly up against him, sighing contently. It’s crazy to think that she’s here right now, this happy. She always thought that her life would end before she even got a chance to turn thirty and it came close several times. Being here in Cameron’s arms just makes her all the more relieved that she got a chance. “What do you mean?” She asks, looking up to him.
Cameron nodded with a soft sigh. "I miss her so much. But I'm okay now." He put a small smile back on his face and glanced down at her when she lifted her face. "Oh… um… I was just thinking out loud. We're getting puppies together and you and I have emotionally gone through a lot together. I was wondering if you wanted to… I don't know. I think it's too early." He smiled shyly and ducked his head. "I don't want to rush us. Unless you wanted to advance our relationship, I think we should stay the same way we are now." He paused with a soft inhale. "Sorry, I'm just… ranting I guess."
Ava blinks and just stares as him as he rambles. She has to admits that she’s not entirely sure what the hell he’s talking about. This is the first relationship that she’s had that hasn’t ended after the one month mark. She’s usually afraid to commit but for some reason she just doesn’t feel like that when he comes to Cameron. “You’re adorable when you rant like this,” She tells him, laughing softly. “What were you wondering?” She’s cautiously curious to know what exactly he’s thinking.
Cameron blushed and leaned back away from her, as if afraid of some kind of reaction. "We've known each other for a while, and I was just going to suggest we get a- ah- little bit more intimate." He hated admitting stuff like this to her, but he wanted to know what she thought. Sure it was awkward, but they were practically best friends and significant others. Communication is what helped their relationship grow.
Ava’s own face turns a rosy shade of red. That really wasn’t what she was expecting him to say so she has to take a few moments to gather her thoughts. At least he’s being honest with her about it, that’s always a good thing. “Oh, um…….I’m okay with that.” She gives a slight nod of her head to show that she agrees. She’s open to the idea, even if it is a little awkward to discuss.
Cameron rubbed the back of his head shyly, his own faint blush crossing his tan cheeks. "You don't have to feel forced to, Ava, I don't want to make you uncomfortable. That's why I was wondering if it was too early, you know? But then I realized we've known each other more than when we've been together." He gently took her hand again and moved closer once he was confident she wasn't going to explode.
“No, it’s not that. I don’t feel forced at all and I’m not uncomfortable,” Ava assures him, giving his hand a light squeeze. “You just surprised me.” To be honest, she’s a little relieved. With how he was acting she was expecting him to say something crazy, like suggesting marriage. She feels more confident and relaxed now that she knows that it’s not as insane as that. “Cameron, if you want to be more intimate then we can be.”
"I know, it came out of no where. But I've been thinking about it for a while. I just want to make sure you are comfortable with me." He pressed a kiss to her cheek and slowly stood up, gently gripping her shoulder. He opened his mouth to say something, shut it and just kissed the top of her head instead, moving off to make some breakfast. He hummed softly as he prepared egg, and glanced over at her. "What do you want for breakfast, love?"
“I’m perfectly comfortable with you,” She says nuzzling his neck lightly. Once Kreja is back on the ground and not on the table, she picks up her coffee and takes a sip. The chocolate caramel cream overwhelms the taste of the actually coffee but that’s just the way she likes it. “This is my breakfast,” She comments, raising up her mug. She’s not too big on break. A granola bar or a piece of fruit is usually it for her.
Cameron smiled as he started on pancakes. "Would you change your mind on a pancake? I can add any fruit you want…? Or maybe a bit of bacon?" He suggested softly as he mixed the liquids together, humming softly. He grabbed out a couple pans and the bacon. "It'll be tasty. I want to treat us to a week of food for my birthday, it'll make me happy, knowing I'm taking care of you."
Ava hums quietly as she considers this. It’s really hard to resist his amazing cooking. “You’re spoiling me and I’m no longer going to be able to fit into my work outfit,” She jokes with a light laugh. “Just make whatever you’re making for yourself and I’ll eat some of it.” That joke she made might actually be true based on his words. “A whole week of your cooking? How did I get so lucky?”
Cameron dipped some of the pancake once it finished onto the pan with soft hums, waving his hips back and forth. He was truly relaxed as he laid strips of bacon down on the pan, laughing at her joke and her other words.
"Aw, Ava, don't say it like that. You know I'll make whatever I want for you any time. And hey, I can help you lose that extra weight," He purred flirtatiously, grinning a little to himself.
Ava watches him as she sips at her coffee. She’s always found him to be interesting to watch while he’s cooking. The amount of focus he has and how relaxed he gets is intriguing. She loves to see him in his element like this. “There’s a good chance that I would starve without you. I have been banned from every kitchen that I’ve ever tried to cook in.” Smiling, she relaxes in her chair. “Is that so?” She asks, a grin now on her face.
"I wholeheartedly believe that, and it's in no offense to you, Ava. I'm just glad I've been given a chance to take care of you." At her question, he just gave a particularly strong wriggle of his hips in her direction, a slight smirk crossing his features. "It is so, Ava," He hummed, continuing his slow sways and hums as if he didn't just wriggle aggressively at her. He took out a spatula and flipped the pancake resting in the pan, waggling the plastic tool.
“Hey! I can make sandwiches at least!” It’s a pathetic attempt to defend herself. Unfortunately, sandwiches really are about the only thing she can make properly. Even soup and scrambled eggs end badly. She can’t help it, she laughs at his aggressive wiggling. It’s really hard to take him seriously when he moving around like a caffeinated worm. “You are terrible,” She informs him once she’s manages to stop her fit of laughter.
Cameron laughed with her fits of giggles, his grin big as he succeeded in making her happy and giggly. Her laugh always made him feel light and floaty, like he could fly like an airplane running on her giggles and laughs.
"I know. I like it. I like making you laugh." He messed with the bacon then covered it, joining her back at the table with a kiss to her cheek.
“That wiggling……I don’t even know how to describe it,” Ava snorts in amusement as she shakes her head. If only she had thought to record that. “You’re very lucky that I love you, even if you do look like a worm.” Teaching up and cupping his face, she presses a loving kiss to his lips.
Cameron laughed and held her cheeks as she kissed him, holding it. He pressed back against her, pulling away after a bit with a soft sigh, gazing at her.
"I am a worm. I worm, you worm, we all worm. I don't know."
“Cameron, what the actual hell?” Ava asks, starting to laugh again. She’s starting to believe that he’s lost his mind. “Did you put something besides creamer in your coffee? If you did, can I have some?” Watching him be a goofball is hilarious and she loves it.
Cameron just grinned stupidly at her, nodding his head a couple times. "You can have my coffee. I put some of the creamer you like in it, and I felt too bad to drink it. Besides, I don't really like coffee. I prefer tea."
Ava stares at him for a long while. “I’m pretty sure that you’ve lost your mind,” She chuckles, standing up. She’s never seen him like this and it’s weird if not funny.
Cameron stood up with her to check on his food, grinning ear-to-ear. "I always seem like I've lost it. You can't blame me, Ava," He hummed softly, waving his spatula.
Ava shakes her head at him before going to make herself another cup of coffee. "Try not to poke someone's eye out with that spatula," She teases him lightly.
Cameron chuckled and turned to gently bap her face. "That's the most I'm gonna do to you. You're like, thirty miles away from this spatula. Unless I walk over to you or Kreja, nothing's gonna happen."
Ava swats at the spatula to make sure it stays away from her. "I'm not going to feel bad for you if I have to take you to the ER." Picking up her coffee, she heads back over to the table.
After breakfast, it turned out Cameron did not have to be taken to the ER as he gave her two pancakes and bacon to enjoy. After breakfast, they went on to watch a movie or two, then around one Cameron stood to leave to grab the puppies, smiling bright.
"Alright, Ava, I'm going to go get the girls now. Do you want to come with me?"
