Nia went home happy. A day with her sister was just what she had needed after a breakup.

Gemma, we’ve been doing it all wrong. You’ve been doing it all wrong.

And then she thought of Gemma.

Little Gem, you know how we fought. And you know how you fought.

And her mood darkened. She shouldn’t have yelled at me, Nia thought bitterly.

With all the girls and boys, most recently Nia. We saw how you fought with her. How it ended you two.

But, they hadn’t technically broken up. There was just a fight.

We know where you got that. You got it from us.

So, they could still get back together. Maybe. Nia wasn’t so sure how she felt about that now.

We were wrong. We’ve been teaching you wrong this entire time, and we don’t want you living your entire life after us. You need to change.

She wouldn’t admit to herself that, deep down, she still likes Gemma.

Little gem, we know you still like Nia. You simply thought you had to break up with her, punish her for every mistake, because that’s what we did. But you don’t. You need to start over.

But she had no idea why.

You can get back with Nia, and start over. Don’t fight - instead, have compassion. Don’t care for only yourself, put yourself in her shoes every once in a while.

Gemma had yelled at her, broke her heart, and made her regret everything she’d ever done.

This may sound cheesy, but a relationship will never work if you only care about yourself. A relationship is between two people. Not one.

But Gemma has made her happy.

You pride yourself on never hitting her, on treating her better than her parents do. But that’s a terrible excuse.
