"and why not, don't trust me Kerrian?" She asked with a laugh "how is now any different from before?"

"It wasn't wise for me to come out before," He shrugged, "And I do trust you."

She fell silent and nodded, feeling a twinge of doubt about his statement

"Valtira," He said seriously, "I trust you."

She huffed a small laughed and shook her head "how, after what I did to you? How can you trust me again? I'm no better than what's coming after your kingdom."

He sighed, "Look, even though Drake might not have moved on from what you did, I have. What happened, happened and I forgive you."

She shook her head and stood, needing to put some distance between them, "you wouldn't if you knew why I did what I did." She muttered, crossing her arms over her chest

"Then tell me, tell me why you did it."

She shook her head again and squeezed her eyes tight "you'd only hate me more."

Kerrian narrowed his eyes at her, “Tell me.”

"I…I lost him…" She choked out "I lost our son."

Kerrian blinked once, twice, “We… our son?”

Val nodded "it was still early into the pregnancy but Fae can tell the gender almost immediately. I was going to surprise you after a week or two." She explained softly

"And… and you…"

She nodded "I lost him while with Clarise on a trip to our sister kingdom, Balata."

It seemed Drake and Kerrian were present now, one eye normal the other the dragons. They sat, head hanging low. They’d had a son and he was gone.

Val glanced away and scooted back into the corner, as if she could move away from the confession "I told you you'd hate me more." Sheittered before shakily getting to her feet and heading out the door

“W-We don’t…” Before they could finish she was out the door. It’s not like she lost the baby on purpose, right?

Val shipped her tears away and headed to her room when she heard someone call her name. She turned to find Clarisse coming towards her
"I was just coming to find you! Where were you, in the library again?" She asked with a smile
Val nodded "yeah,..I…I just needed a change of scenery.im sorry if I worried you."
Clarisse shook her head and looped her arm with Val's "you ok?"

Eventually, after a few minutes of sitting and calming down, Drake was present, his dragon going away to sit in silent sorrow for a little while. He stood, mind all over the place as he headed out t he library.

Val shook her head again "I told him."
Clarisse blinked and glanced at her queen "val…you told him about….oh," Clarisse sighed softly and guided Val to her room to rest

The shifter didn't know what to do with the information, neither half really functioning properly. He didn't know whether to cry or scream or shout or break something or all of them.

"he hates me more now." She muttered, shifting into a wolf and sitting by the window,
"heading out? I'll let him know if he passes by." Clarisse said
Val nodded and bumped her head against the girl's hand before jumping from the window and sprinting off towards the forest

Drake ended up heading to the dungeons where Val had kept him for a while. He shifted into his dragon, curling up on the rocks.

Val stayed in the forest well into the morning. She hunted a bit before making her way to the lake

Drake didn’t move once, though his mind was going a million miles an hour.

She conjured up an image oh her son on the water and sighed softly "we would've you, uncontrollably and unconditionally."

Clarisse searched the castle for both Val then for Drake, heading down to the dungeons in case one of them decided to lock themselves in. She glanced in and sighed in relief "she needs you, you know. And I'm sure you need her as well."

Drake lifted his head slightly to look at Clarisse then lowered it onto his front legs, “How do you know that for a fact?”

"cuz she's suffered this long enough alone. And so have you." Clarisse said, "she locked you in here because she didn't want you to see what she was doing to herself."

Drake huffed a little bit stood, “Fine. I’ll go.”
