(m'kay. walk safe)
"Sherlock and the…I'm morbidly curious but I'd like to say that all of that sentence is wrong in my universe."
"That so?" Mike reached the end of the bridge and stepped off. "We'll have to compare fandoms once this is all over. "
Kaiser looked away from the view, which he'd been studying carefully. "Ah, you have the key. Good. Are we ready?"
Pluto nodded, hopping off the bridge as it splintered and sank into the now murky lake
"Then with your permission, I will use the key to open a more substantial portal to the Seams."
"Yeah, here." Pluto handed him the key
(Boy do I have a road trip planned for y'all)
Kaiser held the key in one hand and closed his eyes, standing perfectly still for a moment. Then, with precise, careful movements, he reached out and drew the key across the air in front of him. A dark line appeared as it went, shivering and widening until it stretched from the ground to just above their heads. The hole solidified into a large door made of smooth, glassy black metal, marked with a simple design: a gold circle with a dot at its center.
Kaiser lowered the key and gently pushed the door open, revealing a hazy whiteness that was hard to see through. "The Seams are divided into five levels," he said. "The one we want is, of course, the lowest level, and to get to it we will have to travel through the other four. The first level is Uarilon, realm of the goddess Ennienwin. We must not let her know we are here, for she is the one that banished Zhan. Understood?"
(woo, roadtrip !) Pluto nodded. "Stealth, got it."
Mike agreed. "What would happen if she caught us?"
"You would not be killed," Kaiser replied. "But your ability to leave her realm would be stolen, and perhaps your desire to leave as well. Now come." He led them through the door and past the veil of light into the Seams.
Uarilon was a land of the sky. And it was very beautiful. As far as the eye could see, small islands floated in midair, each one with a different kind of terrain on it. There were islands with lakes, mountains, forests, or just rolling hills, all as stunning as photos from a travel guide. The island they had landed on was small, and covered with a forest of slender aspens that rustled in the breeze. There were no buildings or signs of civilization anywhere, and the only sound was the wind.
Mike stepped carefully over to the nearby edge of their island. "There's nothing underneath us," he said quietly. "Just more sky and some clouds."
"So…Fall and you're dead? I mean I have wings so I don't have…Oh. Never mind," Pluto said, hopping onto the island after Mike after remembering her injured wing
"If you fall, you will return to Earth," Kaiser said, stepping up next to them. "It would not be pleasant. I will teleport us across the islands to that one." He pointed at an island far in the distance, which seemed to have a single hill on it. "That is the gate to the next realm. I would hop directly to it, but that would cause too much of a disturbance and we would be noticed. Please stay close."
"Got it." Pluto shuffled closer to him, not keen on falling into the abyss any time soon
(Hmm, now I gotta figure out a way to get Pluto separated from the others, just for a few minutes. Maybe Kaiser teleports but she wasn't expecting it and gets plopped on the wrong island?)
(that works lol)
(Ok ^^ I gotta work out real quick, I'll be back later)
(np)
Kaiser didn't pause to open a doorway this time. He just disappeared, taking Mike and Red (who I assume is still with us) along with him. Somehow, Pluto must have been a bit too far away, because she was only half-caught by the portal. She was tossed away from the others, and landed hard on an island overgrown with thick pine trees. The others were nowhere to be seen.
(yeah she's still with us) Pluto landed on the ground with an "oof!", damaged wing pressed into the ground. She hissed, muttering in Russian as she righted herself
It was cool and dark under the trees, and the smell of pine sap was very strong. Tiny blue flowers and moss carpeted the ground underfoot. But there were no birds, or bugs, or animals of any kind. The plants were beautiful, but they seemed frozen somehow, as if they never grew or aged. Only the sky changed, and that was a constant swirl of light and color, each arrangement of clouds more spectacular than the last.
Pluto frowned at the forest. "Great. Lovely," she muttered. She brushed herself off, checking to see that her gatekey was still in her pocket. She gave a small sigh of relief when she felt its outline in her jean pocket. She started to walk in a general direction, trying to figure a way out. She couldn't use her gatekey without water, and there seemed to be none in sight
She only got a little ways before there came the sound of something moving nearby.
Pluto whipped around, eyes scanning the forest. There seemed to be something different about the trees, since she couldn't see through them. She mentally cursed, walking faster so as to make it look less like she was prey
(the Jensen returns)
(ayyy)
(hey, how are you?)
(I'm good lol)
(Okay. It's good to have you back ^^)
The rustling escalated into a loud thrashing. Then, with a squeak, a small child tumbled into view, rolling to a halt at Pluto's feet. He stared up at her with a pair of wide, curious teal eyes.
Pluto jumped, taking a few steps back and drawing a short, black and silver bladed knife from thin air. She looked at the child warily, readying herself for an attack
