"Oh…yeah…well, uh…" She said, not wanting to finish.
"Oh…yeah…well, uh…" She said, not wanting to finish.
He looked up at the rapidly descending sun. "Do you think we can make it back to the inn before dark?"
"I'm not sure. Maybe we can get there right at sunset if we go fast enough." She said, looking around. "If we want to get there soon, then we need to go."
"Good idea," He spurred his horse. Mai's horse, mine's dead. He corrected himself.
Once they arrived at the inn, Mai left her horse in the stable, and followed Bjorn up to the room. "So, that was where you lived before?" She asked, setting down her bag.
"Yup, it didn't have much industry, but we made due." He grabbed a glass of ale off the side table and took a long gulp.
he shed his armor and coat, and climbed into bed, only to hop out a few seconds later. "I'll go ask about getting a few extra blankets. It's pretty cold for June wouldn't you say?" He threw his coat back over his shoulder and strolled out of the room.
"Yeah." She said sighing, wondering if she should've told him about her home. She laid down on the other bed, curled up, and pulled the blanket over her, not that it did much to keep her warm.
The door creaked open, and Bjorn stepped in. "They had two blankets, do you want one?" He tossed it at the foot of her bed. "Goodnight." He rolled into bed.
Not two hours later, there was loud shouting downstairs. Bjorn shot up. "Hang tight, I'll go check that out." He stood up.
Mai sat up and watched him leave, saying "Okay." as the door closed. She walked toward the door and grabbed her daggers, in case Bjorn needed help. Then, she waited.
Bjorn reappeared in the doorway. "We have to go. Now." He grabbed his backpack and opened the window. "I don't like the looks of what's down there."
"What is it?" Mai asked, grabbing her bag. "How bad is it?"
"You could call it a riot, but I'm not sure if everyone down there is human. Might be goblins, if those exist." he tossed his bag out the window, and gestured to the opening. "Ladies first."
(If anyone is interested in joining, the more the merrier!)
Mai stepped up to the window, flashing him a quick smile, then jumped out, grabbing onto a tree branch and swinging to the ground. She turned and looked up at him, waiting for him to jump.
Bjorn crawled halfway out of the window. "Man, these aren't made for big-buff-monster-hunters to jump through." He wobbled and fell, landing face first on the ground.
Mai stifled a laugh, and helped Bjorn up. She turned and started walking toward the stable. She looked through the inn's window as she passed. She froze, eyes wide, staring at the tall, muscular man who was standing in the middle of the room. But what most disturbed her was what he was saying. "-so if any of you have seen this elf…" He said, holding up a poster of Mai. "You will be rewarded for telling me her whereabouts." Mai's breathing sped up, and she backed away from the window. She sank to her knees and started muttering to herself. "Oh my gosh. I can't believe this. How did he know I was here?"
"Didn't you say you were a thief before we met? Someone probably saw a wanted poster." Bjorn sucked in a breath. "If Kaine knows what he's doing, he's got a big web of spies. Now let's get our horses."
(Sry it took so long, I had computer trouble)
"Ok." Mai stood up and rushed to the stable. She paused as her eyes landed on Kaine's horse. She glanced back at Bjorn. "Wanna steal his horse?" She asked with a mischevious smile.
"I don't see why not." He grinned.
Bjorn hopped on the horse, and it's saddle burst into flames. The horse reared back and ran for the river.
"I'm stuck!" Bjorn shouted as the horse sank into the riverbed. "HELP!"
Mai rushed over and pulled him out of the water, then walked back over to the other horses. She looked at them stopping in front of a chocolate brown mare covered in white and light brown spots. "Take this one. She's almost as fast as Midnight." She said, glancing at her own jet black mare with white and grey speckles across it's nose.
(Btw Leo Valdez rocks!!!!)
"He's got the nerve to bring a kelpie!" Bjorn spat out some water. "I should've seen it coming."
Bjorn inspected his way around the horse his friend had suggested, and hopped on. "You know anywhere to lie low?"
(BTW THANKS! HE'S MY FAVORITE!)
(If you're interested, I have a history of the place, I can copy-and-paste it if you want to read it.)
Mai shook her head. "The only place I can think of probably isn't safe anymore." She hopped on her horse.
(Sure! And btw in case you didn't know Mai is pronounced My)
Bjorn pulled out his flask "It's worth a shot." He took a small sip. "Lead the way."
(Okay, brace yourself)
Several kingdoms once went to war to fight over Antarctica, after discovering that it's full of gold. The war slowly developed into an attempt to destroy the other kingdoms. People died and cities were destroyed. Eventually, Kings, Queens, and Warlords realized that they all need something better than what everyone else has, so they wanted the best wizards, mages, and magicians around. It quickly turned into a magical arms race, and a few of the slower kingdoms to catch on were wiped away. Soon there were three kingdoms left. The first, called Hungan, had a handful of alchemists, trying to breed and enchant the perfect war dragon. The second, called Etlan, had a very mixed crowd of witches, wizards, warlocks, you-name-it. They wanted to release a controlled plague. The third kingdom was called Aeriss, and its main focus was simply to protect its kingdom from the first two, so the most powerful enchanters and enchantresses around were there, fortifying walls, enhancing ballista, even cursing moats. When the first kingdom believed they were ready, they released their dragon, called the Hungarian King. The alchemists were certain they could control the beast, so they sent it to Etlan. But after destroying Etlan, the dragon continued on its rampage, destroying villages and eating anything that moved. The controllable plague, which was stored in the dungeon of Etlan castle, wasn't actually controllable, and spread around the castle and into the surrounding villages. The Plague worked just as it was supposed to, killing people within minutes of catching it and spreading like a wildfire. The Plague, although effective, was short-lived, and completely disappeared after two months, but leaving nearly four-fifths of everyone dead, including most of Hungan, and all of Etlan. only a small area of Aeriss was touched by the Plague, thanks to the protective charms. Aeriss, now called Eriisa city, is now the biggest city on the continent, and, being on the coast of the Eastern Sea, is the trade capital of Europe.
