Liam took a seat, close to Kasey. He knew he had no reason to be cautious around the other woman, however after everything that had happened he couldn't help but be on edge, "How long have you two known each other?"
Liam took a seat, close to Kasey. He knew he had no reason to be cautious around the other woman, however after everything that had happened he couldn't help but be on edge, "How long have you two known each other?"
Both Kasey and Ivory thought for a moment. It had been a while, but just how long had it been?
“Was it since I was ten? Whenever I started figuring out about my powers. Harper thought another girl super would be good for me, and he’d known of Ivory for a while,” Kasey mused as Ivory nodded along in agreement.
"So, you and Harper are around the same age, then?" He asked, "And at least that was good you two met when you were fairly young. Having each other there while working through your powers would have been a help."
“I’m actually two years older than Harper,” Ivory said, checking the time on her phone. “And yes, I helped Kasey with her powers. I hope I did well.”
Kasey chuckled and nodded. “You did help me, thank you. Is Caelan almost here?”
“He should be here any—“ The doorbell rang before Ivory could finish speaking, and she stood. “I’ll be right back.”
"Don't tell me she's psychic too?" Liam joked, a small smile on his face. Hopefully Caelan would be able to help them. He had no doubt that he would, but hoping helped bring at least a little light to the situation.
Kasey chuckled, suddenly nervous. It had been a while since she’d last seen Caelan, and when she had… She may or may not have had the slightest crush on him. Which, now that she was with Liam, shouldn’t be a problem. Besides, he probably didn’t look as good, anyway. Right?
Most tech guys looked like they would be tech guys. Nerdy, socially awkward, glasses, the works, right? Well, the man who walked into the room was anything but. Except for the glasses, which he did have.
“Kasey! It’s so good to see you again,” the tall blond greeted her, tugging her close and wrapping her in tanned arms.
She laughed when he pulled her against himself and tapped his chest. “Hi, Caelan. Good to see you again.” No, he definitely still looked good. “This is my boyfriend, Liam.”
Maybe it was just because Liam was over protective of Kasey, or maybe it was because he was already on edge with what was happening with Matt, but he really didn't like Caelan from the moment he walked in. Even less when he hugged Kasey like that.
Liam drew himself up to his full height, giving the other male a small nod and a reserved smile that last only a moment, "Caelan. Nice to meet you." No it really wasn't.
Kasey stepped back from Caelan and took Liam’s hand. She looked over at him to find his lips pursed. Was he jealous?
Hey. What’s wrong? she asked him silently, her head tilting to the side.
Ivory handed the tech guru the phones, and they stepped away to go take a look at them.
Liam shook his head a little, giving her hand a little squeeze. It's nothing. He had no reason to be jealous, even if they did have history and he was pretty attractive. However he wasn't going to let Kasey know that.
Kasey frowned. She felt like something was bothering, but she really didn’t want to pry…
Are you sure? Because you know you can talk to me if it is.
Liam nodded, offering a small smile. Yeah, I'm sure. I'll talk to you about it later. At least that was better then talking to her about it her, in front of all these people and having a conversation where they probably looked like idiots.
Kasey gave him a small smile back and nodded. If he said he was all right, then she would have to trust that he was.
“So it looks like your phones were clean. No bugs this time,” Caelan said as he came back, holding the phones out to the pair.
Liam gladly took his phone back, slipping it into his pocket. Good, change in subject, "Great. Thanks for that. With the shit that Matt has pulled on the both of us we couldn't be sure he hadn't done something like this."
“So you two are here because you’re running from him? Ivory filled me in on a little bit of what’s going on, but not everything,” Caelan said, handing Kasey her phone and going to sit on one of the chairs.
Ivory nodded, sitting in the other. “I figured you could tell him the rest if you wanted him to know.”
Liam really didn't want him to know, prefer to keep that between Kasey, Ivory and himself so really it was up to her. He shrugged, glancing at Kasey in hopes that she understood. He moved to pick up his cat, sitting himself on the floor.
Kasey felt Liam’s eyes on her and looked over at him. She found him giving her a look, and she though he was trying to get something across to her.
“Um… I think it’s sort of on a need-to-know basis right now. I don’t want anyone else to be in danger because of us,” she said with a shrug. “Sorry.”
Caelan raised his eyebrows, surprised she didn’t want to tell him. It was understandable, though, if they thought t would lead to danger. He didn’t fancy the thought of getting in trouble.
“Okay. Well, then, I’m off for now. Call me if you need anything else, all right?” He gave both Ivory and Kasey a look, making sure they understood he meant it. When both supers nodded, he gave them all a quick smile and headed back upstairs to leave.
Liam tracked him as he went before he gaze drifted back down to the cat now curled in his lap. There was something about Caelan he didn't like. Maybe it was just jealousy, maybe it was him being paranoid with meeting new people or maybe his gut feeling was right and there was something wrong with the guy. He didn't know and didn't want to know.
He relaxed a little after he left, trying to not make it so obvious that he had been tense with the other male in the room. However as he was with two supers, Liam knew they would know.
Ivory gave no indication that she noticed Liam relaxing after Caelan left. Kasey, however, looked to her boyfriend and raised her eyebrows. She’d spent enough time with him to notice when his demeanor changed.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” she whispered, leaning closer so Ivory, who was now smiling down at Quake when the cat jumped in her lap, wouldn’t hear them speaking.
Liam blinked then looked up at his love. There was almost something unreadable in his expression as he shrugged, "Just glad he's gone." He replied quietly, saying nothing more then that. It was just jealousy, that was all it was. And for someone who had never had to deal with that before, Liam wasn't handling it well.
Kasey nodded, her eyes looking over his face. She gave him a small smile, reaching over to take his hand.
“Okay. At least we know our phones weren’t bugged,” she pointed out.
He nodded, giving her hand a squeeze once it found hers, "Yeah, good thing, too. Means you can call your brother in case we need him without fear of Matt listening in."
Kasey smiles. She hadn’t thought of that, but she was glad Liam had. In fact, she should call him to let him know what was going on quickly.
“You’re right. And I should call him to let him know we’re okay,” she said, standing and grabbing her phone. “I’ll be right back.”
(Heyy so I'm kinda back? Will be a bit spotty for a few more weeks because school but then I should be more active :))
Liam nodded, even though he didn't exactly want to let her go, knew she wouldn't be far. Paranoia, it seemed, had made its way into his head, more so then normal, "Okay, tell him I say hi."
(Welcome back! Take all the time you need to get back into things!)
“Will do,” Kasey said with a nod. She gave his hand a slight squeeze before stepping away and dialing her brother.
Ivory sat down again and crossed a leg over the other. “How long have you two officially been together?” she asked, looking Liam over.
(Thank you :))
Liam blinked before letting out a soft chuckle. He couldn't help but feel a little self conscious under her gaze, "Quite a while. With everything going on with Matt it hasn't felt like it, though."
(Shoot, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to leave for so long.)
Ivory nodded with a hum. “That’s understandable. I’m sure you two have been through a lot together,” she mused.
(All g, I get it)
He nodded, going a little red, "Yeah we have. Sure, it hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows, but I can't imagine not being with her.. she's my everything."
“Of course. As she should be.” Ivory paused as Kasey walked back into the room, and she smiled at her. “How’d it go?”
“Good. Liam, he says ‘hi’ back,” Kasey said, moving to sit beside him again.
Liam smiled a little at Kasey, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to pull her closer, "Your brother is great," He said with a small sigh, "Not as great as you but still great."
Kasey laughed softly and nodded. “He is. He’s a better hero than me, though. You can’t deny that.”
