Lucas was sitting in the back of the class frowning at Rowan. He saw him talking quite happily with another guy and he felr jealous, though he would deny it if anyone said anything. Rowan was his friend. His best friend. He didnt want to share him.
The final bell rang and they both stood up. Rowan said a quick goodbye to the other boy and glanced back at Lucas, nodding towards the door with a hesitant smile before packing up his things.
Lucas nodded amd packed his thing quickly. He headed out the door to meet with Rowan.
Rowan waited outside the classroom and as soon as Lucas walked out, he wrapped his arms around him, hugging him tight. “I’m sorry. I didn’t..I mean I didn’t want to..” he trailed off and sighed. “I’m sorry..”
Lucas let out a small "oof" at the hug, startled. He wrapped his arms around him quickly. He gave him a squeeze. "It's okay. You don't have anything to apologize for. I would just like to know why you're so defesive about it."
Rowan sighed, his shoulders slumping. “I was..I don’t know..it’s complicated,” he whimpered, keeping his arms around Lucas.
Lucas rubbed his back soothingly. "It's okay. We talk about it more later okay?"
Rowan nodded and pulled away, ruffling Lucas’s hair. “Can we go home now, I’m tired,” he groaned, pouting slightly.
Lucas chuckled and pushed him away. "Don't mess with my hair." He laughed. He slung his arm over his shoulder. "Home sounds good.,
Rowan giggled and patted Lucas’s hair, beginning to walk out the door. He would never admit how much he liked Lucas. It would ruin their friendship. And Lucas would never feel the same about him. It was torture.
Lucas follwoed next to him, a smile on his face. "We should make a fort and binge watch Netflix." He suggested.
“That’s a wonderful idea.” Rowan grinned, ignoring his thoughts and just focusing on how happy he was around Lucas.
Lucas grinned. "Then lets go." He laughed and started running. He turned gis head to look at Rowan.
Rowan laughed and shook his head, running after him and catching up quickly. He wrapped his arms around Lucas’s waist in an attemt to keep him from running.
Lucas laughed loudly. He wrapped his arm around Rowan. He panted slightly, out of breath.
Rowan laid his forehead on Lucas’s shoulder, still laughing quietly. “I hate you,” he mumbled, slightly out of breath.
Lucas snorted. "No you don't you looove me." He said in a sing song voice. He pukled out his keys and unlocked the door to his house. He set his bag donw in his room and kicked off his shoes. "Lets make our fort."
“Yeah whatever.” Rowan couldn’t keep the smile off his face as he followed Lucas inside, setting his bag down and following him. “Gladly.”
Lucas pulled a whole bunch of blnakets out of a closet. He was on his way to the living room when he tripped over one of them. He let out a startled yelp.
Rowan caught him instinctively, his arm wrapped around Lucas’s waist. “Clumsy much?” He laughed softly, trying not to explode as their faces were only inches apart.
Lucas clutched on to him tightly. "Thank you." He chuckled. He strightened himself. He dumped the blankets in the middle of the living room.
Rowan sighed, his arms dropping to his sides. I put in all this effort, and all I get is a thank you. I’ll never leave the friend zone, will I, he thought, walking behind Lucas into the living room.
Lucas looked back at him. "Come on, help me make Fort Lucas." He picked up one of the blankets
“Oh is that what it’s called?” Rowan raised an eyebrow, picking up a blanket and helping Lucas.
Lucas smirked. "Oh yeah. What else would it be called?"
“I don’t know.” Rowan shrugged, tossing a blanket at Lucas. “Something better than Fort Lucas,” he giggled.
Lucas gasped dramatically. "Fort lucas is an amazing name. It's the best name actually." He stuck his tongue at him
Rowan snorted and wrapped a blanket around himself, settling himself on the floor comfortably. “Yeah? Says who?”
Lucas finished setting up the fort and cralwed inside. He laid blankets and pillows on the floor. "Says me. And set it up so you dont get a day." He stuck his tongue at him.
“At least I’m here,” Rowan said, grinning at Lucas. “I could be off with some girl or something,” he teased.
