Daisy snorted, rolling her eyes. Of course he would remember that. It had slipped her mind, but now she did as well.

“Of course you do. I think I’ll just stick with ‘nerd,’ though,” she declared with a smile.

Deleted user

“Well then, Gorgeous… whatever you like,” he chuckled, shaking his head. He liked this—going from serious to playful without much effort. “Nerd it is, then.”

Deleted user

“I think I prefer ‘nerd’,” Arvil joked. “The first nickname you ever gave me, darling.”

Deleted user

“And what would you like?” Arvil questioned her cheekily. “Or do you much prefer ‘darling’? I sure do.”

Deleted user

Arvil smirked when he noticed the color on her cheeks, understanding that she was flustered. She blushed so easily, it was amusing.

“Daisy Darling,” he hummed. “Has a nice ring to it. Been calling you that from the beginning, haven’t I?”

Daisy huffed softly, rolling her eyes. Her cheeks turned bright red, though she ignored that, too.

“Yes, I suppose you have. Guess it would make sense for you to continue, wouldn’t it?” she hummed.

Deleted user

“Definitely,” Arvil hummed around a mouthful of food. “Ah, right. I talked to my mother. She wants to meet you, too.”

Deleted user

Arvil chewed on his bottom lip. “I have a feeling she knows,” he admitted. “And if she asks me, I’ll let you know I can’t ever lie to her.”

Deleted user

“She won’t,” Arvil promised. “My mother can keep secrets like a professional. And she’ll love you, so don’t worry about that, either.”

“Well, that’s good, at least,” Daisy sighed, glancing down at her plate before looking up again at his next words. “I hope so. Not that it really technically matters, of course, but…”

Deleted user

“She will,” he assured her gently. “You’ll like her, too. She’ll probably end up spoiling you, whether you’re my real wife or a fake one. As long as you’re lovely.”

Daisy’s smile widened of its own accord. When he finished speaking, though, she scoffed playfully and rolled her eyes.

“I’m always lovely, Arvil. I thought you’d know that by now,” she joked.

Arvil winked, loving the smile on her face. She was so beautiful. Did she know that? He couldn’t even tell her every day, even though he wanted to all the time.

“Of course you are,” he chuckled, reaching over to pinch her nose. “Have I ever doubted you?”

Deleted user

“I’ll pinch it whenever I want,” Arvil shot back, playfulness dancing in his eyes. “But maybe if you asked nicely… I’ll stop. For today.”

Deleted user

“Then I shall do it again,” Arvil declared, reaching forward to pinch her nose again. “Rethink your decision, fair maiden!”

Deleted user

Arvil quirked an eyebrow, as if to say ‘You think that’s going to stop me?’

He stood from his own chair to walk over to hers, pinching her nose before she could escape.

“Try again, Daisy darling!”

Deleted user

“What’s the magic word?” Arvil asked, the grin still on his features. “Say, ‘Arvil, the most handsome man to ever walk the Earth, please stop!’”

It was ridiculous, but this was Arvil with Daisy now.

Deleted user

“No?” Arvil quirked an eyebrow. “I’m giving you time to reconsider, darling. Trust me, you’d want to reconsider.”

Daisy shook her head and continued eating. If she kept heating, he couldn’t do anything to her, right? He wouldn’t want his own fiancée to choke to death, would he?

“All right. You asked for it,” Arvil wasted no breath in grabbing her wrist, making her drop her fork. He pulled her to her feet, pressing her back to his chest, and wrapped his arms around her waist.

“I’m giving you another chance,” he whispered into her ear, fingers against her sides. “You know what’s coming next, love.”
