@Mr.Misfit
Zack chuckled to himself, then shut up, praying he hadn't alerted them.
Zack chuckled to himself, then shut up, praying he hadn't alerted them.
"Fine, fine. I'm trying to work with them temporarily, then depart from the group once we find clues of a war machine factory. Then, I'll go there… and maybe enlist some people to help me blow it up?"
“I’m a pyrokinetic.”
Pyrokinetic? Isn't that….fire? Aidan shook his head.
“Maybe you could say that you were studying illegal objects and made a fake hollow model.” Ruby shrugged, lighting her fingertips on fire.
"Thanks for the idea!" Emma smiled gratefully. "Let's head back outside… I want to get Zack's shitstorm done and over with,"
Shoot. They're coming back out…. Aidan ran from the wall and conjured a rubber ball. He began bouncing it and walking towards where he had previously been, trying to act normal.
“Actually, I need to talk to Melvin.” Ruby said, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. “I wish you the best of luck, if you need me call me. When you guys are done, call me. We can talk in a cafe or something.”
"Bye," Emma waved back at Ruby, and headed into the hallway. She bumped into a patch of air. "Ow! What… Zack!"
Zack decloaked, suprised.
"Uh…. hi?"
"You were listening?! The whole time?!" Emma shouted, pissed off.
Zack found her anger surprising, and a good sign. He raised his hands, trying to make himself less of a threat. "Hey, hey, relax! I had to get out of that hellstorm, and I happened to hear you guys talking. And… I wanted to make sure you weren't…. well…" He struggled to get the words out.
"Weren't what?" Emma demanded.
Zack exhaled sharply, "I wanted to be sure you weren't trying to make things worse. I wanted to be sure that you were just making mistakes."
Emma softened slightly. "Oh… okay. I understand,"
Suddenly feeling terrible, Zack stiffened himself and looked away. "I probably shouldn't have done it the way I did, but, yeah. I was just worried, y'know? This war could be the thing that takes me. Or Vix. And for the slightest moment I felt like you could be a threat."
"Me? A threat? Sure… I can't even time distractions right!" Emma joked.
Zack chuckled and whistled for Vix to come in, but still didn't meet Emma's gaze. Instead, he simply knelt to pet Vix, who laid down after a minute. Zack smiled, "Do you have any pets, Emma?"
"No, they interfere with my work and are a bother. No offense,"
"None taken at all," Zack responded, "But you know what having one feels like? It feels like a sibling, a child, and a parent all at the same time. Vix went to the war, too. She came back, and I took her in."
He recalled the conversation he had overheard, "My pet, your brother, Aidan's family, any of those who fought, they're the reason that we're doing this. Especially your brother. He gave more than most." Zack looked down again, still stroking Vix's fur.
"How did you meet him? What was he like?" Emma asked eagerly.
Zack shook his head, "I never did meet him personally. I've heard stories of the Illeyitome who gave himself up to let his team escape. I also heard you talking a bit ago."
Aidan was standing right around the corner, listening in on their conversation. Emma's brother huh?
"Thank you," Emma smiled. "Well, it's around time for bed. Good night," (time skip?)
(yeah sure)
(Yeah.)
Emma blinked at the bright sunlight streaming through the windows, muttering in panic as she looked at her alarm clock, but then quickly remembered that it was the weekend. She changed and washed up, heading outside. "Alright, I'm going to see Zack, Aidan, and Ruby," she said to her roommate. "Bye!"
Aidan stood outside the school, not having slept the night before. It wasn't much of a surprise, he never slept.
(anyone on?)
