@Fraust

(Oof)
Lucas jumped a bit at the sudden noise and took his headphones off. "Yeah? What do you need?"

Deleted user

"You know that when MouseTrap goes to New York, you have to go with me right?" She asked. "I'm not leaving you here for a month."

@Fraust

"What?! Carter, you know I can't leave. I've got to go to college, remember? You may have your theatre thing, but I don't. I need to get a degree so I don't end up homeless or something." Lucas lay his headphones on the table.

Deleted user

"Well I'm not leaving you here for a month by yourself!" She fired back. "I worked hard for this apartment and I'm not gonna let you look after it. I know that Vivian would look after you, but dad won't let you back in their home."

@Fraust

"I'm responsible! I'm twenty years old now, Carter. You could trust me, you know." Does she really think that little of me? I'm an adult, for god's sake!

Deleted user

"No, I can't. I can't trust you, I never have been able to fully trust you. You don't even have a job, for fuck's sake! I started a business 10 year ago and now we're going on Broadway. You can't look after yourself."

@Fraust

Lucas flinched a bit. So she does think that little of me… "I-I… what if I got a job? I mean, I sort of do already, j-just not exactly in the traditional sense… you know I was going to be doing commissions until I get a degree!"

Deleted user

"You need to have a proper job, at least at Walmart or something. I was running a fucking business while in college, having a simple job would b eso much easier."

@Fraust

"What's wrong with doing commissions? It's still a job, it just doesn't have set hours or wages…" Lucas looked down at the table nervously.

Deleted user

"What's wrong with it?" Carter asked. "I'll tell you what's wrong with it. It's not a stable job. You can't guarantee a steady income, and you live off me. You can't do that forever."

@Fraust

"Well, maybe it wouldn't be as much of a problem for me to afford anything if father helped out a little more. It's no secret that he likes you more."

Carter heard Jamie whisper goodbye and hand up the phone, knowing that he knew it was going to get heated. She put her phone on the table. "Well I'm sorry for being the successful kid, while you're gallivanting around doing nothing with no job trying to make a living off commissions that no one asks for!"

@Fraust

"I-I'm trying my best, Carter! It's hard for me! Not everyone can just up and start a damn theatre company and expect it to work out. Some of us need to go to college before we can get decent jobs." Lucas didn't usually swear, so he was definitely growing more irritated.

Deleted user

"I went to college and had a job. You don't have an excuse. You can't just expect everyone to do everything for you like you always have. You need to go out and do things for yourself."

@Fraust

"I don't expect people to do everything for me! Sure, it's nice to have help every once in a while, but I still make money and buy my own food and stuff."

Deleted user

"Yeah, barely. I've seen you take money out of my purse, Lucas." Carter sighed. "Look, you're coming with me whether you like it or not. I'm your sister and believe it or not, I care for you."

@Fraust

"C-Carter, I can't leave…" Lucas seemed more upset or desperate than angry now. "I… I-I know you're basically the only family I have left, b-but I can't just not go to college…"

Deleted user

"And I can't just not go to New York! I'm sorry, but right now you can't look after yourself. You don't have a job and you can't make money."

@Fraust

"I… I-I need some time…" Lucas picked up his headphones with trembling hands and went up to his room as calmly as he could. He sat on his bed and turned his music up loud, drawing his knees up to his chest and hiding his face in them.

Carter sighed, rubbing her face. She didn't like fighting with Lucas, but it seemed to always happen. She grabbed her phone and then walked into the small soundproof recording studio that came along with the apartment, starting to practice both the script and the songs a bit.

@Fraust

Lucas planned on staying in his room for quite some time to cool off. He was still shaking uncontrollably from the fight, and he kept his face hidden. He hated confrontation, but it had been happening a lot more lately.

After being unable to get into what she was practicing, Carter started to go over her many notes on her performance that she had written herself.

@Fraust

Should I go and apologize? No, I meant everything I said, and she needed to hear it… Lucas turned the volume up again. Maybe I'll apologize later for my tone, but not for what I said.

Carter was unable to get into the zone again, so she resorted to going over the travel and rehearsal plans on her laptop. She knew that Lucas had the volume up all the way: he always did when he was angry. But it was all for nothing: she could barely hear anything from the studio.

@Fraust

Lucas held his hands over his headphones and glanced up at the wall. It was blank, as usual, although that's where the orders for commissions were supposed to be pinned up. As much as he hated to admit it, he had no steady course of income coming in at all at the moment.

Carter put through a few applications, sending back information for people asking about it. She continued to do it as she received a call from her friend Spencer.

@Fraust

Just stop thinking… you'll only feel better if you forget and numb yourself… Lucas gently pulled up his hoodie sleeves to look at the bandages underneath. He sighed quietly, but didn't necessarily regret doing it.

Deleted user

"Hey, I'm outside you're apartment," Spencer said.
"I'll let you in," She replied, getting out of the studio. She knocked hard on Lucas' door, yelling "Turn your music down!" She then went to open the door.

@Fraust

Lucas couldn't really hear Carter, but something inside him figured she would be coming back. His mind was distant as he stared blankly at the bits of red seeping through his bandages. Carter still doesn't know about this, does she? He thought to himself with a hint of bitterness.

Deleted user

"Hey, what's up?" Carter asked Lucas as she opened the door. He walked inside and she closed it after him.
"Well, I just wanted to go over the travel and rehearsal plans for New York."
