"Oh… but don't you have to buy those? I haven't got any money."
"Oh… but don't you have to buy those? I haven't got any money."
“That’s why I said I would buy it for you.”
"You don't need to buy anything for me Sabina. I'm okay."
“Okay..” she sighed, “Do you at least feel better now that you slept for…ten minutes?”
Lloyd shrugged. "I mean, I guess so. What were we going to do today?"
“I didn’t really have any plans.” She shrugged, “Whatever you’re interested in, I suppose.”
"Well, I need to learn how to be a police officer if I'm to make money and stuff."
“Okay, maybe we can go get an application for the entrance exam? That way you know what’ll be on the test to get into the academy?”
"Alright. Do you know what sort of things I'll need to do?" Lloyd went to the door and opened it, holding it open for Sabina.
Sabina sat up from the counter, “Only a vague idea, no specifics.” She walked over to the door, “I need to change to cover my wings first.”
Lloyd nodded and walked out after Sabina. Once she'd changed, they headed over to the police station.
“Okay,” she said when they parked, “Do you want me to go in with you? Just in case you need help with any human interaction or anything?” The thought was silly to her at first, but giving he just came to earth for the first time three days ago with little to no human interaction, he might need some support, she reasoned. But then again she would rather not go in with having no idea what to say in a situation she’d had no experience in.
"Uh… that would probably be for the best." Lloyd got out of the car and looked up at the police station, checking to make sure Sabina was there before he went in. "Where am I supposed to go?"
“Just through the front door.” She managed a smile, shutting her car door. She stuffed her hands in her pockets and hopped up the curb to the front door of the police station, “Just ask for some information about the exam.”
"Okay…" Lloyd found a desk with a person that he decided would be adequate for asking questions to. "H-Hello, sir." He bowed politely. "Do you know where I could obtain information about police academy applications?"
The ginger haired man looked up with an unusually cheery expression over a name tag that read Timothy, “Well, you can get the information here but it won’t be very lengthy. We encourage applicants to apply online. For now I can give you a list of the basic requirements you’ll need to apply, and the website to find the application.” He offered.
"Alright, thank you. That would be very helpful." He glanced over at Sabina, confused. What is online? Lloyd accepted a couple sheets of paper from the man and left the building with Sabina.
Sabina followed him out, planning to answer any of his questions inside the car, “Online is..is a network connected to machines that gives you different types of information in a visual appealing way. I’ll just have to show you.”
"Is it like books?" Lloyd looked over the papers he'd been given. "What do they need my address for?"
“To send you mail and things.” She brushed off, “Every job application asks for it.”
Some other things the application needed: “must have obtained high school diploma or GED, must be 21 years of age or older, must have motor vehicle license”
"I don't think I have these things. I don't remember going to high school, I don't know how old I am, and I think the last one wants me to drive one of these things…" He gestured to the car.
“Hm..” she frowned, “Well…we can work on getting you those. That’s a goal, right? Are you up for it?”
"I mean, I guess so. I don't see why not. How do I figure out how old I am, though?"
“You look about twenty one. You can say whatever year you were born, but you should probably get an ID to prove it to employers.”
"Okay. Where do I get an ID?" What year was I born? When's my birthday? I don't usually keep track…
“You can get it at a place called the BMV.” She replied, “I’ve done that before so I can help.”
Lloyd nodded. "And what about a… 'motor vehicle license'?"
“You can get that at the BMV too, but you’ll have to study before you can get the permit to start driving.”
"So I have to control one of these…?" I'll survive, but it won't be enjoyable.
“Unfortunately, yes.” She affirmed, “I’m sorry..I’ll help teach you.”
