“Of course,” Arvil responded smoothly, running his fingers down Cameron’s spine, who squirmed. “Or you could ask me, and I would get you one from the vending machine.”

Arvil’s eyes flashed to her lips before a smile curled up on his. “Darling, I could have the world in my hands and I’d still be at your beck and call.”

Daisy felt her heart skip a beat when his gaze flashed to her lips. She blinked and tried not to blush or look at all flustered.

“Hm. Well, for now, why don’t you just tell me where the machine is so that I can go get it myself? And then I can meet you at your car,” she said with a shrug.

Deleted user

“You sure?” Arvil quirked an eyebrow. “I wouldn’t mind getting water for you. You and Cam could head to my car. You know where I park it, anyway.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy blinked up at him, actually thinking about his offer. She cocked her head to the side before shrugging.

“All right. Sure. I’ll need your keys, though,” she reminded him, holding out her hand.

Arvil set Cameron down and ruffled his hair before slipping his hand in his pocket and taking out his keys. He set them on her hand before smirking at her. He then turned his attention to his nephew.

“Be good to your aunt,” he said to him sternly. Cameron have him puppy eyes. “His booster’s on the back seat. He knows how to buckle himself up, but see to him, anyway.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Okay. Thanks, Ar— love. Thanks, love,” Daisy corrected herself, blushing slightly as she said the word. She needed to start using more pet names for him, rather than just his name.

With a smile, she reached down to take Cameron’s hand. She nodded at Arvil before making her way outside, toward his car.

Arvil watched them walk away with a soft smile, hearing Cameron’s chattering. He turned around to make his way to the vending machine, where he got one bottle of water and one juice.

Finally, he walked to his car, pleased when he saw his nephew and fiancée inside, talking. He opened the driver’s seat and sat inside, handing Daisy her water.

“And this one’s for you, little man,” Arvil turned around to hand his nephew the juice box. The boy took it excitedly, thanking his uncle as he opened the straw.

Daisy thanked Arvil when he handed her the water. She chuckled at the boy’s excitement for the juice, smiling a bit. Kids were cute sometimes.

“How far away is it again?” she asked, taking the cap off her water as she glanced at her fiancé.

Deleted user

“Not very far,” Arvil responded, starting his car after he buckled his seatbelt. “But that depends on traffic, too.”

He pulled his car out of the parking lot, exiting it and driving onto the highway.

“What flavors do you have in mind?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy clicked her tongue, tilting her head from side to side in thought. “Well… There are the obvious vanilla or chocolate, or… Maybe lemon? Or strawberry? I haven’t thought about cake flavors as much as I have the design. What about you? Any ideas?”

Deleted user

“I’m personally leaning more toward salted caramel cake,” he murmured as he took a turn. “But chocolate… everything fails in comparison to chocolate. There’s also red velvet, but… in the end, it’s your choice, love.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“I’m not a fan of red velvet,” Daisy declared, scrunching her nose up. She twisted around to look at Cameron with a smile. “What about you, Cam? What flavor of cake do you like best?”

Deleted user

Arvil blinked, completely surprised. Before he could question her about her tastebuds, she was already talking to his nephew.

“Cotton candy,” he sucked in a big gulp of juice before swallowing. “Or chocolate!”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Oh, cotton candy, huh?” Daisy chuckled with an amused smile. “Maybe they’ll have a cotton candy flavor for you. Or maybe we can order some mini cupcakes for the kids for the wedding… That might be a good idea…”

Deleted user

“The kids would love that,” Arvil passed a quick smile at her before turning back to the road. “Same flavored cupcakes, or different?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Maybe a couple of different flavors. That way, if a kid doesn’t like one of them, they can have the other,” Daisy mused, turning back around in her seat to face forward.

Arvil took a turn before slipping into the parking lot. He parked the car and killed the engine.

“We’re here,” he declared, unbuckling his seatbelt before getting out to unbuckle Cameron’s. “Are you both ready?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“As I’ll ever be,” Daisy hummed as she climbed out of the car. She made her way around to Arvil and Cameron, giving the little boy a smile. “Ready to taste some cake?”

Deleted user

Arvil pulled the little boy on his shoulders, and small hands gripped his hair.

“Yeah!” he tried swinging his legs, but stopped after his feet hit his uncle. “Ready.”

Arvil chuckled at the boy before he leaned closer to Daisy, whispering quietly so only she could hear, “You look beautiful, by the way. I miss you with your glasses, though.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy blinked, her cheeks tinting slightly pink. She reached up to touch the space beside her eye. “Oh… Well, thank you,” she said softly as they walked. “I… wanted to try something new. I figured you really only ever go wedding cake tasting once in your life, so…”

At least… You should only have to do it once…

Deleted user

Arvil looked down at her, both hands on his nephew’s legs. He let one go to take Daisy’s hand in his, giving it a light squeeze.

“You look beautiful,” he repeated. “More than you know.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy hummed, feeling her cheeks warming even more. Gosh, he was too… sweet. Why did he have to be so nice? It would be easier to leave him at the end of all this if he wasn’t to nice and charming and really attractive…

Stop. Stop, no. You can’t think like that. Just… remember that you are starting over. Be nice to him. Who knows? Maybe he will end up likening you back, but… don’t get your hopes up…

“Thank you,” she whispered, lightly squeezing his hand back as they stepped into the bakery.

Arvil smiled down at her before he held the door open, waiting for Daisy to step in before he followed.

He wasn’t joking when he said she looked beautiful. She did—extremely so. If his mind hadn’t been caught up in that prank (and Cam), he would have looked like an idiot gaping at her. Arvil didn’t want to taste the cakes anymore. What he wanted to taste was something entirely different.

Something pink, soft, and plump.

“Which flavor do you want to try first?” Arvil quirked an eyebrow, driving his thoughts away from her lips. He could not be thinking like that. Not right now.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy let out a slow breath as she looked around the store, a smile tugging on her lips. “I really want to try the lemon cake. Someone is meeting us, right? We set up a meeting with someone, I thought.”

Deleted user

“Oh, right,” Arvil blinked, having forgotten that particular detail. “He should be here any time soon.”

Just then, the employee door opened and a young man stepped in. He had bronze skin and dark hair, and was wearing an apron. Upon seeing the couple, he walked over to them.

“Mr. Arvil Davis?” he quirked an eyebrow as he looked over at them. He passed a small smile toward Daisy, but didn’t stare at her for long, turning his attention back to Arvil. “Grayson Jules. I’m grateful to you for contacting me. I’ll guide you through the different flavors, and then you can tell me which one you prefer. If you’ll follow me…”

Once they were done, Arvil turned to Daisy, bumping his shoulder against hers.

“So…” he quirked an eyebrow. “You need some time?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy sighed and looked over the flavors again. She reached up to touch her glasses, then dropped her hand again when she remembered she wasn’t wearing any.

“Well, I mean… they were all very good,” she said, nodding at Grayson with a smile of thanks. “So, yeah. I think I will. Although, I did narrow it down to lemon, chocolate, or strawberry… Which do you like?”

Deleted user

“I don’t think just chocolate would be a good idea,” Arvil answered slowly, furrowing his eyebrows in thought. “Something less sweet, and so either strawberry or lemon.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy hummed and looked over the little bits of cake left. She picked her tiny fork up again, then ate another piece of the strawberry.

“Mm… I really like this one,” she hummed, glancing back up at Arvil. “Really, though, which ones did you like? It’s your wedding too, you know. You get a choice.”
