Silver stood in the middle of the room and listened until she couldn't hear anyone in the hallway anymore. With a heavy sigh she looked around, studying her surroundings. Mentally she felt through the entire room, to each corner, and then around the door. Closing her eyes she slipped her focus out into the hallway. Two guards beside the door, otherwise empty. With a frown she turned her head, her body ever so slightly following the mental path she trod as she felt the walls down the hall for any other doors.
"Please, Gabriel, if you could just behave." Airrow rolls his eyes and pinches the bridge of his nose. "I gave you one job. One. And you didn't. do. any. of. it. When can I send you out on your own? When can I trust you? Hmm?"
Gabriel gulps, not fighting as two men chain his hands up above him and his feet to the ground.
"I can't just stretch Kissa out everywhere. She can do a lot, but not half as many things as you. When will you help?" He sighs lowly. "You're becoming a burden."
He doesn't answer, staring at the cement ground.
I have to be careful.
If I go too soon they'll hurt Kissa.
Could I get her to come with me?
No. No she wouldn't.
Airrow steps forward, grabbing his face with one hand and forcing him to look up, though Gabriel still avoids looking him in the eyes.
"Are you listening to me?" He glares down, but Gabriel doesn't respond.
Silver stretched herself as far as she could down the hall in either direction, exploring any doors and rooms she found. It was hard to make sense of anything without sight. With a gasp she dropped to the floor, blinking herself back to the room she was in. Nothing. She couldn't find anything, not without sight and smell or anything else. Heaving deep breaths, she flopped onto her back and stared at the ceiling.
The ceiling.
Once she caught her breath, she closed her eyes and again felt her way out of the room, but this time, she pushed through the floor and the ceiling above and below.
(Miki and Violet are in the house, Ben is sleeping in the other room.)(Miki's on the computer doin…. stuff)
Violet inhales, looking around the homey place. She bites the inside of her cheek and pulls out her phone to text Cage again.
This is why Ben never sleeps.
She pockets her phone and heads to the kitchen. finding everything unplugged and empty. She rubs her forehead and sighs.
Airrow grits his teeth angrily and lets go of Gabriel's face. He shakily exhales in aggravation.
"You're testing my patience, boy."
He turns around and start to walk out, calling ahead of him to his men, "Bring Kissa in here. Then he'll talk."
Silver found the walls of the room above her and then directed her focus out the door, finding her way around the layout. Slowly she adjusted to only using her extra sense, and detection was easier.
Miki sat cross-legged on the couch with her laptop on one knee and Ben's maps spread over the other. She regularly checked her phone, waiting for a ping back about Cage's location.
Kissa enters the room, standing straight and looking close to disgusted. But despite her look, she approaches him, a hot rag in her hand, and starts to clean the blood from the glass and fight from him.
"If you weren't so stupid, you wouldn't get hurt." She gently states, her voice quiet and small.
He swallows. "If I wasn't so stupid, a lot more people would be hurt right now." He weakly states, his throat dry and his voice scratchy.
She shakes her head a little dabbing some blood off of his right arm. "Why do you care? Who is she?"
He stares at the ground.
"Is this all because she has wings? Or maybe because she's just as stupid as you?" a grin crosses her thin lips and she stands in front of him, trying to look into his eyes.
He looks up to her, meeting her eyes.
I want to help her. What if I could get us out?
Letting out a sad sigh, Kissa unchains his arms so he can sit while she treats his back.
"I know, I know. But it's not going to happen."
The phone screen lights up and it makes a soft sound. A location in the form of numbers and letters appears along with a link.
Violet turns around in the kitchen, walking back into the living-room after hearing the quiet noise.
Thank goodness.
"We should get him while we can." She suggest, already picking up her jacket and slipping it on. "Ben can stay here."
Silver visibly gasped as she felt a familiar aura outside a door. It was almost too far away for her to fully feel, but she found the crack under the bottom of the door and eased her focus inside.
Gabe.
There was no way for her to communicate with him, but she knew he was in there. She'd never forget what he felt like. Kissa must have been there too, because she felt another person but they didn't seem very different from Gabe.
"Cage?" Miki asked, snapping her laptop shut and folding Ben's maps. "How far away is he?"
A guard outside the door raises an eyebrow as he looks over his shoulder momentarily.
What on earth is wrong with these people.
Gabriel stares sadly at the ground, keeping his mouth closed.
Would you come if I tried?
She shakes her head as she pulls a shard of glass from his skin. “Our anklets, Gabriel.”
He swallows, closing his eyes.
She brushes her fingers through his soft hair, untangling it. “Gabriel…” She whispers, her small voice trailing off as a pearly tear wanders down his cheek.
“Not far. A good twenty miles, but it’s not as far as expected.” She states as she looks over the location and link. “Are you coming with me or staying? Because I don’t mind either.”
Silver found Gabriel and Kissa on the far side of the room. As she felt around them to see what was happening, she felt the blood and the glass on him and the tears on his face. Her own eyes welled up and she beat her fist against the floor of her cell, angry that she could feel his pain but unable to even let him know she was there. That she was okay. That she was sorry she had made it so much worse for him.
"I'll come." Miki said. "I'm pretty sure your Benny boy can take care of himself. You and I should stick together."
Violet goes to walk out the door, but pauses to close her eyes and breathe for a second after Miki’s words.
Violet Parks.
You will not lose your temper.
Yelling at her won’t change a thing.
She reopens her eyes and head to the car, climbing in and tucking her hair behind her ears.
——-
Kissa pulls herself forward and up beside him on the ground so that she’s sitting on his right side.
“Gabriel.” She tilts her head, brushing his hair out of his face.
I want out.
She swallows, creasing her brow. “I know.”
Miki grabbed her phone and followed Vi, settling into the passenger seat.
Silver opened her eyes, her focus on Gabriel evaporating as her tears slipped down her temples and ticked her ears. She stared at the ceiling, hands fisted so tight her nails left bloody cuts on her palms.
Vi starts up the car, buckling then driving away. She hands her phone to Miki, “please tell Cage we’re on our way.”
“They have her downstairs, don’t they.”
His voice is dry and quiet.
She goes back to clean the blood off of his back. “Don’t even consider it, Gabriel.”
He stands, stretching his wings out. He closes his eyes as the cuts continue to burn and bleed. He turns to look to Kissa. “Please-“ he steps forward and takes her small, delicate hands. “-please come with me.”
Miki nods and sends the text. "Are they okay?"
Silver finally relaxed her hands when the pain made her realize what she was doing. She lifted them and surveyed the damage. Four perfect half-moons in each palm. Each lined with blood.
Gabriel was covered in glass from the explosions. Silver had no idea if his wounds were being cared for.
She pressed her eyes closed again, feeling the ire and pain and agony rise inside her. Only for a moment did she hesitate, and then she let all the emotion inside her rip away. The lights concealed in the ceiling exploded, sparks and electricity flying everywhere. She dove into the bathroom, hiding in what little shelter the tiled walls afforded, and turned toward the door, reaching for the windows she had found in the hallway and exploding them as well.
Alarms start to blare once the door has been unhinged and the windows knocked out.
Gabriel snaps his attention towards the noise, tightening his grip on Kissa’s hands.
Now.
She hesitates, swallowing.
We’ll be hurt.
He looks back to her. “I can’t unlock the door, you have the key.”
She lets go of his hands, walking forward and slowly unlocking the door. She closes her eyes, then opens it.
“He’s asleep.” She tells the guards. “I’m going to stay and care for his wounds.” They nod and walk off.
She opens the door completely, turning around in the doorway and making her feathery wings visible behind her.
“Will you come?” He asks.
She nods. “Just go.”
——
Violet nods, “for now at least. But we want to make it there fast.”
Silver waited until the electricity had calmed to smaller bursts and the glass had settled, then gathered all the broken shards from the ceiling and the windows and brought them to the center of her room. Hovering in the air, she pointed all the sharpest edges toward the door and created a wall in front of herself.
The guards outside her cell yelled into their radios, calling for backup and reporting what she was doing. They pointed their guns at her through the door.
"Stand down, Bird!" one of them called to her.
Silver slowly walked out of the bathroom, approaching the door. As she moved, the field of glass in front of her moved forward as well.
"Make me." she whispered.
“You’re going to have to lead me.” He states, walking down the hall hand in hand with Kissa.
She shakes her head. “I don’t know where she is downstairs, she’s just down there.”
She’ll be easy to find.
They head down the flight of stairs, the sound of guards running down the halls to stop the outbreak.
Both the guards' radios crackled, orders and questions pouring in. Silver kept approaching the door, and when she was within a few yards, she snatched one of the radios out of their grip and pulled it through the bars. "This Silver." she said, speaking into the radio. All activity went silent. "By all means, do come join us." she crooned. "We're having such a lovely time down here." And still holding the 'speak' button, she fling her wall of glass through the bars of the door. The guards screamed, dropping their weapons and trying to protect themselves. Silver dropped the radio and searched the guards for keys to unlock her door.
Gabriel speeds up, letting go of Kissa's hand, and she follows closely behind.
He stops at the sight of the broken hallway windows and stares at the door way on the left that led to the room attached to Silver's.
My anklet.
He turns to Kissa.
"My anklet, can you get it off?"
She shakes her head. "Airrow can."
He glares. Cause that helps.
He turns back towards Silver. "Can the guards?"
She shakes her head again. "Only Airrow. The guards can let the others out, but Airrow keeps us."
Men start to flood the hallway, coming from basically every direction, but not as many as last time.
The others
Kissa's words ring in his head and her turns, looking into another doorway through which he can clearly see a small, sitting figure on the far side of the cell, shaking.
The others
Silver searched through every pocket of the two guards and cursed under her breathe when she found no key. Swiftly she scanned through the shards of glass at her disposal and tried each promising one in the lock, but none of them worked. Abandoning the glass, she turned her mind to the inside of the lock. She had moved objects before, maybe she could mentally move the pins and tumblers in the lock and let herself out. The chaos and noise of the guards converging toward her tore at her focus and she had to start over again and again.
Gabriel and Kissa disappear instinctively, the guards running right past her.
The guards reach the cell, looking right through Silver. "She's not here! Get men outside and in the halls!"
Kissa nods towards Gabriel.
Quick thinking.
The guards disperse, none staying behind.
I can do this.
He closes his eyes and inhales, then approaches the cell, peering into her eyes shyly.
"Silver?" He whispers quietly and as softly as he can manage.
(are the guards on the ground knocked out?)
______
Violet pulls the car up next to the side walk and Cage starts to bounce, waiting for the vehicle to come to a stop before he jumps in, pulling Leo and Shadow along.
"I'm go glad you came! I was super worried. What happened to Ben's house? Did they catch anyone? How's Ben? Is everyone o-"
Violet puts up her hand. "Please, Cage. Breathe for a second."
He nods. "Alright. I should save the questions for Ben anyways."
She starts to drive again, turning around and heading back out towards the countryside.
Cage slowly peers over the side of Miki's chair.
"…hi."
(Sorry I’m back now)
Silver froze as the men shouted about not seeing her. Barely daring to breathe, she held her glass still and watched them run away.
What–
But then Gabe came around the edge of wall into her vision. The glass dropped to the floor as she released it, sounding like tinkering rain all around her.
"Gabe?" she whispered. "What are you doing here? You were upstairs– you were hurt. How did you–" She grabbed the bars and reached for him, remembering that he had been bleeding and crying. "Are you okay? What did they do to you?"
–
Miki turned and flashed a smile at him, wiggling her fingers in a wave. "Hey, kid."
I'm fine. Did they hurt you?
He looks her over, his brow furrowed, then turns to the lock on the barred door. He studies it for a moment before turning to Kissa.
She walks forward, giving Silver a disgusted once over, then glances down to the lock. "I only have your key." She states, handing it to Gabriel. "I don't think it will work on that."
He swallows, trying the key. But it wont go in all the way, much less turn. He closes his eyes and takes a breath. "We need her out. They'll be back up here soon." He quietly states, his voice dry and scratchy.
Kissa looks back up to Silver. "Help me." she demands. She focuses on the lock.
Cage smiles. "Who're you? You remind me of someone we used to know because of your red hair. I like it."
(WELCOME BACK ROCKY!!!!)
(Feel free to jump in/have your characters do things :D They're in the backseat of the car with Cage and Violet is driving while Miki is in shot gun)
(So glad you're here!)
Silver frowned when she saw Kissa, but realized she was helping Gabe and held her tongue. They would probably have some words about Kissa's attack later, once they were safe. She nodded and closed her eyes, feeling her way inside the lock again, finding each tumbler and figuring out how to make them move correctly.
–
"I'm Silver's sister, Miki." Miki said, holding her hand out to shake Cage's. "And you're Ben's brother?"
Kissa glares at the lock and it pops, the door creaking outward.
Gabriel exhales, evidently having been holding his breath. "Let's leave." He takes Silver's hand ever so gently, slipping his freezing fingers between hers. He feels the blood on her palms and glances down to her hand, then back to her face.
Are you okay?
Kissa grabs his other wrist and pulls him forward. "Let's go."
Cage beams shaking her hand. "Yeah! Isn't he great?"
Violet bites her lip, holding in a laugh.
"I'm fine." Silver said, squeezing his hand. The chill from his skin seeped into hers. "Come on, we have to get out of here and clean you up." she tugged him along, following Kissa.
–
Miki pressed her lips together for a second, her gaze flitting to Violet. "Yeah. Yeah, he is. You got a pretty great brother, Cage."
He nods and follows Kissa, letting her drag him through the hall and up two flights of stairs to stand on the roof again.
Men walked around on the top occasionally looking over the side.
Kissa turns to Sil with a finger to her lips, mouthing 'Don't Speak'.
She lets go of Gabriel's wrist and bends down, examining his anklet.
Cage sits back, still smiling. "He's amazing."
A smile crosses Violets lips and she ever-so-slightly shakes her head in amusement.
