“How cruel,” Arvil chuckled, shifting again to his side, the back of his head pressed against her stomach. He closed his eyes and released a deep breath. Why did this feel so soothing?
“How cruel,” Arvil chuckled, shifting again to his side, the back of his head pressed against her stomach. He closed his eyes and released a deep breath. Why did this feel so soothing?
Daisy let out a surprised puff of breath through her nose when she felt his head press against her stomach. She blinked and simply took another bite. A few minutes later, she finished and set the dish down. Chewing on her lip, she pushed her hand through his hair, just wanting to feel it between her fingers.
Arvil’s eyes snapped open at the action, but he relaxed as quickly as he had tensed. His eyes fell shut again as he exhaled a heavy breath, feeling his body getting heavier. If she kept that up… he was bound to fall asleep.
“Your hair is soft,” Daisy murmured quietly as she continued to run her fingers through his hair. Her cheeks were pink as she did so, but she liked it, liked that she could do this.
“Is it?” Arvil murmured, his words slurring a bit. It was barely noticeable, but the slur was there. Gosh, her fingers in his hair… it was enough to send a wave of peace to course through him. He liked it. He liked what she was doing, and he wasn’t just talking about what she made him feel.
“Mmhm,” Daisy hummed, twisting a strand around her fingers. “Do you use conditioner?”
“Mhm,” Arvil barely managed to nod. He didn’t even know if he gave a proper reply. “‘Course… how else would I get such perfect hair…?”
Daisy laughed softly under her breath. “Is… Am I putting you to sleep? Are you falling asleep because of me…?”
Arvil nodded again, his mouth moving to let out words, but he wasn’t sure if he really said them or not. He didn’t even have enough energy to repeat it. He was slowly falling under, the soothing feeling of her fingers in his hair doing wonders.
Don’t stop…
“Arvil… Don’t fall asleep. If you do that, I’ll leave you here without saying goodbye. You wouldn’t want that, would you?” Daisy murmured, pulling her hand from his hair to pat him on the cheek, trying to get him to wake up.
Arvil grunted, stirring slightly, missing the feeling of her hand in his hair. He was far too under to even feel anything anymore. He could hear her speak, but what she said, he had no idea. He could feel her touch, but was unable to register it. Before Arvil knew it, his breathing evened and he fell into the darkness.
Daisy patted Arvil’s cheek again, frowning slightly. Seriously? Had he really just fallen asleep on her? She knew he needed sleep, but she also needed to get to work… Plus, what was she supposed to do with him on her lap? She couldn’t move without waking him up, and she didn’t want to do that. But she couldn’t just sit there, either…
There was a knock on the door, but this time, no one actually barged inside. Perhaps the amount of times they caught their boss and his fiancée locking lips had given them some sense.
Daisy glanced at the door before looking back down at Arvil. She covered his ear with a hand before calling, “What is it?”
(Aw, she covered his ear~)
The employee opened the door a little and looked inside, eyes taking in the future wife of his boss.
“Good afternoon,” he greeted her hesitantly. “Mr. Davis is needed at the conference room. It’s urgent.”
(Lol. Yup~)
Daisy blinked once, raising her eyebrows. “My fiancé is currently unavailable. Is there anyway that it can wait?”
“I’m afraid not,” the employee, who’s ID read John, grimaced. “He’s needed.”
“Hm. Well, then, thank you. You may leave, now. I will wake Mr. Davis,” Daisy said, raising an eyebrow at the man.
“Right, of course,” John nodded. “Have a good day, Ms. Riley.”
With another nod, he stepped out and closed the door behind him.
Daisy sighed and looked down at Arvil. There were so many ways she could wake him up, but which would be the best…?
“Arvil. Hey, Arvil,” she said softly. She continued to say his name, getting louder each time, until she was speaking just above her normal level.
Arvil scrunched his face, releasing a puff of air as his eyes blinked open. He shifted, blurry eyes opening to meet Daisy’s. “Hm?”
“Good morning, sunshine. There’s apparently an important meeting that you are needed for,” Daisy said, raising her eyebrows at him. “You should probably attend that.”
Arvil blinked at her before he groaned, closing his eyes again. “Damn it,” he rasped out, pushing himself back into a sitting position, feet on the ground. He ran a hand through his hair, sighing. “No peace of mind, huh?”
“No, it would seem not,” Daisy agreed, collecting her things before standing. She blinked down at him, tilting her head curiously. “So I guess I’ll see you either on our next date or next week for lunch?”
“Yeah,” Arvil pressed his face in his hand, voice hoarse from sleep. God, he was going to go crazy. What did they need him for now? He probably should have listened to his father and got a trusted VP. And the only man who could work well with that position refused it. Thrice. “Next date. Pick you up on Saturday? Eight PM.”
Daisy hated how much she liked his voice this way, low and raspy from sleep. No. No, she didn’t hate it. She actually loved the way it made her feel, the little shivers it sent down her spine. No matter that it was with a man who didn’t love her; it was still a good feeling.
“Sounds good. I’ll see you then,” she said softly, giving him a small smile and a nod before making her way to the door.
Goddamn it. He missed her hand in his hair the second she left. He missed the warmth and peace that he felt laying on her lap. He wanted to do it again. He probably wouldn’t get the chance again.
Sighing, Arvil picked himself to his feet and made his way out of his office and to the conference room.
As soon as Daisy was at her car, she leaned back against it, closing her eyes. Gosh dang it… What had she done? Now she couldn’t get the feeling of his hair between her fingers out of her mind. She so wanted to be able to do that again, but there probably wouldn’t be a chance to do so.
“Gosh dang it,” she hissed under her breath as she slid into her seat.
[TIME SKIP: SATURDAY]
“We’re going to watch a movie,” Arvil declared as soon as he parked the car in front of the cinema. He had put on a black shirt with a red button-up shirt on top, and left that unbuttoned. He’d topped it with jeans and white shoes. Really, Arvil’s like for such clothing was insane. Other than hoodies and jackets, Arvil didn’t try out anything else.
And now here they were, on their date. Which Arvil was looking forward to. Because it was fun—spending time with Daisy was fun.
Daisy had dressed rather simply, as well. She knew she didn’t really have to try to impress him, and he’d already seen her in her pajamas, anyway. So she had simply worn a button-up black dress with a thin black belt looped around her waist and a pair of black flats to tie it all together.
“What are we seeing?” she asked as she opened her door to step out.
