"That woman there, with the handful of kids?" Babe said, nodding her head in the direction of said woman trying to wrangle four kids, as she turned to take another piece of pizza. "She's having marital problems. My guess is filing for divorce."
Henry raised an eyebrow. "You know her? Or just being a detective?" He took another pizza as well and pretended not to look over at the woman again.
"Never met her in my life." Babe said, happily chowing down on her piece of pizza. "She keeps looking at her purse, the way one does when waiting for an important phonecall. Then there's the ring."
Henry nodded slowly as he started to notice what she was talking about. "We'll get you a pipe and call you Sherlock."
"Tobacco tastes bad." Babe said matter-of-factly, though her lips quirked up in a grin. "I'd look hella good in a trenchcoat though. We should partner for Halloween! I could be Holmes, and you could be Watson!"
"What if I want to be Holmes?" Henry asked with a grin, only slightly offended she would consider him Watson."
"You just called me Holmes." Babe pointed out, as though it was obvious. "So you kinda already agreed, and it was basically your idea."
"We'll see. Maybe I'll think of something better." He raised an eyebrow at her. "Do you still do the whole walking around for candy thing?"
"You bet." She nodded, grinning. "I take the younger kids out for trick-or-treating, and some of their friends, usually. Kai doesn't trick-or-treat, but I bring him candy, and then go to some sort of party with Rico."
"Oh, not the dreaded Halloween parties. Some people in school get waaaaaaaay too into them." He shook his head sadly. "If you want to have fun, we should go down to the warehouses. The seniors get together and rig the whole thing, and leave it up for anyone brave enough to go."
"Y'mean like a walk o' fear?" Babe asked, sitting up with interest as she moved on to another piece of pizza. "The football team at my last school set one o' those up as part of a scheme, but it blowed."
"That's what I've heard. I never went." He finished his piece and took a deep breath, mentally calculating how much Babe'd eaten.
At this point, she'd eaten over half an entire pizza on her own, and didn't seem to have any intentions of stopping. "Well, we gotta check it out! You're comin' trick-or-treating with us though."
Henry sighed. "Candy, yes. I'm always up for candy. Unless… I live on the end of a street, in one of those 'creepy' houses. I usually stay home, dress as a vampire, and jump out of trees to scare people."
"We scare people anyway." Babe said, waving a hand dismissively. "The trick-or-treating is a tradition, and so is scaring the heck out of other trick or treaters."
"So all we have to do, is scout out a route for trick or treating and where to hide to scare people." He sat back and pushed the pizza slightly towards her.
"Or do it on the fly." She pointed out, happily reaching for another piece. "You walk around, and someone catches your eye, so you sneak up and scare 'em."
"Oh, that's no fun. You have to find the dark shadowy spots." He scratched his head. "Although, any extra opportunities are good too."
"You take what you can get and make the most of your limits." She said simply, this time picking off the olives to eat before eating the pizza.
"Yep. I thought you liked olives?" He nudged her under the table with one foot, keeping the other farther away from her.
She kicked at him anyway, albeit gently. "I do. Savin' 'em for after I eat the pizza. I have a super important question."
"That's disgusting. But ask already." He leaned forward to put his head on his elbows and raised both eyebrows at her.
"It's not disgusting. You're just weird." She said, rolling her eyes as she took another bite. "I wanted t' know what your favorite movie is."
"That counts as a super important question?" He raised an eyebrow at her and leaned back in his chair. "It'd probably have to be Secondhand Lions."
"Rewatch favorite or once favorite?" She asked, raising an eyebrow in response. "I need to know, pronto."
"Rewatch. I was obsessed with it." He raised an eyebrow back. "Why's it so important, and which is your favorite?"
"I'm a big fan of shitty movies in general, but if I had t' pick a respectable one, it'd probably be The Perfect Date." Babe said, lips flickering up into a smile. "And don' worry about it. You'll know soon enough."
Both Henry's eyebrows went up at that. "Should I be worried, or excited?" He gave her a half smile, only worrying a little bit.
"Yes." Was all Babe said, grabbing two pieces of pizza and layering them. "Favorite food. Both snack and meal-wise."
"Now I'm genuinely concerned. And you didn't answer my questions. Pretzels with carmel syrup and spaghetti with sausage instead of meatballs."
