"Ouch." Cammy muttered, feeling a slight twinge of something that might have been sympathy. She shouldn't have felt it, considering they were literally colonizers and terrorists, but the space version, and she knew that. But after learning Alex was one of them…it was slightly different. What were the chances he was related to someone on that ship?
The ship essentially exploded, blasting Voltron back a bit with the force, as the sword cut through what were probably fuel tanks.
Alex’s grip tightened on the controls ever so slightly. He released a breath through his nose, eyeing the ship until the very last second.
Voltron soared away once Shiro was happy the ship was thoroughly destroyed. It changed back into the five lions as they landed back by the castle ship.
Cammy was the first out of her lion, helmet already off as she dealt with the mess her hair had become. If someone studied her closely, they'd notice that it was more of a distraction, something easy to focus on, than actual concern for her hair.
Shiro was our next, smiling at Cammy, “You did great Cammy, nice flying.” He walked over and patted her on the back.
Cammy blinked, her frown directed at her hair easing as she looked up at him, obviously startled by the compliment. Out of habit, she shifted just slightly away from his hand. "Oh, uh, thanks? You were pretty great at the whole leader thing, y'know."
Shiro shrugged in return, “Eh, it was nothing.”
Alex came out then, pulling his helmet off his head and sticking it under his arm, growing and clearly in thought.
"Still, better than anyone I've known." Cammy's eyes shot to Alex as he stepped out, something flickering across her face for a split second as she tapped Shiro's shoulder. "You're his friend, right? Something's up with him, and I might know what, but could you just…go talk to him? Like…like you just did with me. Normally."
Shiro raised a brow at Cammy, looking from her to Alex then back to her, “Of course… What’s he told you that he hasn’t told me?”
"Nothing." Cammy shrugged a shoulder, starting to put small braids in her hair for no reason. "I just know things. Just go chat with him, 'kay? I'm gonna go see if Hunk needs me to hold his hair back while he pukes."
Shiro narrowed his eyes at Cammy but nodded, "Okay… make sure to head inside soon, Allura might want to leave soon." He sighed then headed off to Alex.
Cammy joined Hunk and Pidge, who were excitedly chatting about the fight, but kept oddly quiet as she walked with them. Her eyes flickered to Alex and Shiro once more, before she made some comment that had Hunk laughing.
Shiro and Alex's conversation was short. Mainly because Alex didn't want to talk about way he was acting 'strange.' Shiro become more worried as Alex walked away, glancing from him to Cammy then back to Alex.
((I legit had a dream last night about these two, and in it, they were at some diplomatic meeting/ball/gala type thing and slow dancing))
Cammy glanced over at Alex once more, this time catching his eye and giving him a thumbs up, paired with a small smile. He might not be her favorite person, but she didn't like seeing people upset, and she guessed that's what was up.
(Niiiiiiice)
Alex didn't return the smile, though he lingered a second longer then he wanted to at first. He finally looked away, heading inside and completely ignoring Allura as she called after him.
Cammy shook her head, ignoring Hunk's questioning look as she scooped Pidge up in a congratulatory hug and spun him around. Together, the three headed inside while they chatted, Cammy quickly falling back into her normal rhythm.
Allura walked over to the four paladins, frowning slightly, "What's up with Alex?"
Cammy, for once, stayed quiet as Hunk shrugged. "I don't know." He said, looking to the others as though they might have a clue.
"I tried to talk to him," Shiro started, "But he just brushed me off…" He looked to Cammy.
Cammy looked up, looking around. "Maybe he's just overwhelmed?" She offered, obviously not too set in that as she shrugged a shoulder.
Shiro and Allura frowned and shared a look but didn't press, "Well, he'll tell us eventually," Shiro sighed, "Come on, let's go inside."
Cammy leaned against Hunk as they walked, listening to Pidge ramble on about the tech of Voltron. She carefully avoided looking at Shiro and Allura, not liking how the two seemed to be able to tell something else was going on.
As the group entered the castle, Shiro and Allura split off from the group and headed to the bridge, chatting away to each other. Alex was talking to Coran, acting like nothing was wrong.
Hunk and Pidge split off to go explore, leaving Cammy alone. With a sigh, she glanced around at the others, eyes lingering on Alex for a moment, before starting for him and Coran. She had a few questions for the Altean, anyway.
Alex was leaning against a pillar, arms crossed as he listened to the red head ramble about something. He wasn't really listening but he nodded along anyway.
"Coran!" Cammy called, her grin slipping back into place as she approached the two. "I mustache you a question!" She was well aware that it was a horrible pun, but the confidence with which she delivered the joke almost managed to convince someone it was decent.
Coran broke into laughter, shaking his head slightly while Alex just rolled his eyes at the joke, "Your human jokes are quite funny, Cammy." The Altean got out once he'd stopped laughing.
Cammy's grin widened, and she shot him a wink. "I've got plenty more up my sleeve for later." She quipped, waggling her eyebrows at Alex.
Alex sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, "What do you want, Cammy?"
"So grumpy grumpy grumpy~" Cammy sang lightly, turning to Coran. "I wanted to know what all this-" She gestured to her marks. "-rally entailed. Obviously, it means I'm part Altean? But beyond that, I might be just an eensy bit confused."
Coran scratched at his chin and perked up immediately going into detail about the markings (insert reasons here - brain not functioning) Alex listened in, even though he didn't really need to.
