"Does this mean sleeping together-" He interrupted himself hurriedly, "In a completely nonsexual way!" He paused. "Does that mean that is changed in any way?"

"Our whole relationship is changed now," Isla replied. "How could it not be? But we haven't changed. Not really."

He took a deep breath. "I want to just fall asleep now. How about we go to bed and talk about it in the morning."

"Yeah, that sounds good," She agreed, following him back to the bedroom. She coughed again, this time with blood, and she hid her slightly bloody hand from him

He sighed quietly to himself, pulled the blankets over the two of them, and in a few minutes fell asleep.

She knew that he had fallen asleep, but she couldn't herself. She was scared of another nightmare.

Nathaniel's arm wrapped around her shoulder unconsciously, as if he wanted to pull her closer.
