Jared got to the kitchen, and skidded into the stove. "Ow!"
Jared got to the kitchen, and skidded into the stove. "Ow!"
"Careful it's hot" Joanna muttered.
Morrigan looked straight ahead. “He had to punish me.” She was parroting the words that had been ingrained in her mind for her whole life, and he knew it.
"I learned that the hard way." she said moodily.
She stood up at the end of the table, leaning on the chair, covering her pained expression up with a confident smile.
“No he didn’t,” Lucian said in a slight firm tone. “He had no right to do any of that to you.” She kept saying that. How many times has he heard her say that before? He didn’t want to keep track, but he knew he probably had it written down somewhere. He wrote everything down.
Joanna spotted Cicada and pointed at her own eyes before pointing at Cicada.
Cicada had sat down as far away from Joanna as she could, after slipping the knives back onto the counter.
Kameo leaned against the table, closing his eyes and waiting for Leah to say it.
Daso entered the kitchen and stood near the door. He frowned at Leah, who looked to be in pain. Then he noticed Kameo, standing silently, and feared the worst.
As Joanna glanced at everyone, her eyes settled on Kameo. He looked depressed. 'Oh no. Oh, no'
“No he didn’t,” Lucian said in a slight firm tone. “He had no right to do any of that to you.” She kept saying that. How many times has he heard her say that before? He didn’t want to keep track, but he knew he probably had it written down somewhere. He wrote everything down.
“But he did. It was my fault my brother died, I——“, she cut herself off. “Sorry.”
Leah bit her bottom lip, thinking of an easy way to say it. But there wasn't.
"Ace didn't make it through the plague. . ." She finally said, speaking up. "We've decided to stop in a mountain range to spread his ashes."
Lucian shut his eyes tightly for a moment, trying to process all of this. He thought he was decent at reading people, but Morrigan was good with secrets, she’d always seemed to be. “It doesn’t matter what you did. I’ll say it again, and I’ll keep saying it- you didn’t deserve any of that pain. Not a single part of it.”
"That's what he wanted." Kameo said, looking down.
"No…" Daso's heart dropped. "Oh, God, Kameo, I am so sorry." (gtg again sorry guys)
Joanna lowered her head, tears leaking out of her eyes. Ace. Ace was dead. She had just talked to him this morning.
Cicada said nothing, she looked down at her hands. This wasn't right, it just wasn't.
"Okay, that's what you had to say?" Jared asked. "Bo-ring."
"Jared!" Cicada's head snapped up. One hand slipped back to grab one of her dagger's handle.
“And my brother didn’t deserve to die.”, she whispered, barely holding back tears. It hurt so much, everyday. Life had long since lost its value to her, but then she fell for Lucian, hard, and the meaning had come back. If not for him, she would’ve killed herself a long time ago.
"Not to ruin the moment, but who's Ace?" Ryan looked around nervously, hoping that no one would judge him for not feeling sad.
"Jared if you haven't got anything better to say, get the fuck out of this room." Leah said, focusing her gaze on her.
Joanna stood up. "YOU JACKASS!" she shouted. "How can you be so insensitive, huh? Is it all that tech? Is it? IS IT? Kameo's best friend died!"
"What? I'm not a sucker for funerals?"
"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!"
“How did it happen?” Lucian asked softly. He continued to rub the back of her hand lightly. He wanted to tell her that it was okay to cry, that holding it in wasn’t good to do.
Joanna stood up. "YOU JACKASS!" she shouted. "How can you be so insensitive, huh? Is it all that tech? Is it? IS IT? Kameo's best friend died!"
Boyfriend, actually.
(Sorry. Still a best friend though, right?)
"Hey, so what? He wasn't my friend, so I really don't care."
