Arvil hummed in response. “Then I’ll take you there,” he said. “If you’d like.”

“It would make you happy, right?” Arvil questioned, feeling her eyes on him. He took a right turn. “So I’ll take you there if it means you’ll be happy. Don’t ask me why, Daisy.”

Daisy opened her mouth to protest, then let it fall shut again. She blinked, her gaze taking him in as if truly seeing him.

“Thank you,” she finally whispered after a few beats of silence. “Thank you.”

Arvil smiled softly as he parked in front of Cold Stone. He turned to Daisy, a soft look in his eyes.

“You can tell me when you can get a break from work,” he said. “And we can make a plan.”

Arvil chuckled. “Yeah, let’s go.”

He exited out of the car and waited for Daisy to do the same. He hadn’t asked for her hand, but he kept close to her, though the distance was always there.

“All right, you order first,” he said, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

Daisy wrapped her arms around herself as she studied the menu. After finding something that had caramel — no chocolate this time — she ordered a small container of it. If she wanted more, she could get more, but she didn’t want to waste what she got.

After Daisy had decided what she wanted, Arvil ordered a strawberry blonde. He loved that ice cream flavor. He stood next to Daisy quietly, watching the employees prepare their ice cream.

“One caramel ice cream,” the girl said as she set the cup down on the counter. She looked up and furrowed her eyebrows.

“Hey, we need to wait for mine, too!” Arvil looked at her before pointing at the other employee mixing his strawberry in his ice cream. “In such a big rush, huh?”

“Maybe she’s just jealous,” Arvil shrugged. “You’ve got such a handsome fiancée. I wouldn’t put it past her to be jealous of that. And I suppose you’re pretty, too.”

Daisy shot Arvil a look, raising her eyebrows at him incredulously. “You suppose? Well, don’t I feel special,” she drawled sarcastically, rolling her eyes.

Arvil grinned at her, bumping their shoulders together. “You should be,” he teased. “I don’t call a lot of women pretty.”

Arvil hummed, thinking over it. “Fair enough. Well, in that case, I don’t tell women I suppose they’re pretty very often.”

(Amber? XD)

“You suppose?” Arvil chuckled. “You wanna try my ice cream? It’s pretty good.”

Daisy smirked across the table. The words had been intentional, of course.

“What is it again? Strawberry something?” she asked as she peered at it, then swiftly reached over to scoop out a bit for herself.

“Strawberry blonde,” Arvil responded, pushing his cup closer to her. “It’s one of Cold Stone’s signature ice cream. It’s great.”

Daisy hummed and stuck her spoonful into her mouth. She smiled a little as the flavors his her tongue, nodding in approval. “That’s really good…” she murmured, glancing down at her own dish. She blinked before meeting Arvil’s eyes and pushing her own ice cream toward him, a silent offer.

Arvil looked down at her ice cream before taking a spoonful, putting it into his mouth and humming in approval at the taste.

“The caramel is fantastic,” he said, licking his lips. “You can have more, if you’d like.”

“Suit yourself,” Arvil shrugged, taking a small bite out of his ice cream. “Any updates from your parents?”

Deleted user

“Well, let’s not think about them, then,” Arvil said, taking another spoonful of his ice cream, chewing on the piece of strawberry that came into his mouth. “Were you born here, Daisy?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy nodded, swallowing the ice cream she had eaten. “I was. Born and raised. My mother was from Minnesota, though, so she and my father go up there sometimes. I think I’ve only been twice, but I enjoyed it both times. What about you? Born here as well?”

Deleted user

“I was,” Arvil nodded. “Though I’ve traveled a lot, more so after inheriting my father’s company.”
