And can said functional relationships not all just be a bunch of teenagers? I'm sick of teen romance, and as I get older, I sometimes find it creepy that it's adults writing some of the stuff we find in YA.

Most of my characters in deep, functional relationships are adults. And honestly, I can't sacrifice the character to make a relationship work, I have to sacrifice a relationship for the characters.

Hmm… I've always wondered why left-handed characters are such a rarity. I believe it's around 10% of the population that's left-handed, and honestly that seems like a lot more than we have represented. Then again, maybe more are left-handed than we realize. It's not like most people consciously notice when others are left-handed, and it seems like a sort of weird thing to bring up unless someone is complaining about being left-handed or it fits the situation otherwise.

I am left handed…. Just kinda sickening to me that in literally every single book that I've read that not even one single character was left handed…. You'll notice the same thing in tv shows and movies….

Left handed main characters!

I'm left handed so I usually have like one or two main characters in my stories who are left handed (Crispin, Gerard, Andor, Milo, Garzlan and Jaire are all left handed… I feel like I'm missing someone though). But using my left hand for things is just so normal for me that I often picture them doing things with their left hand anyways.

But yeah also as a lefty it always makes me like weirdly happy when I find out that fictional characters are left handed and I feel like there's not that many (especially in literature for some reason).

But functional relationships though. That is one thing I respected about Divergent. Some of the relationship was bad and it was acknowledged and they both realized they had to work on things.

Actually, on a previous sentiment, I always just see characters as left handed, me being left handed myself.

I want more languages.
Everyone just speaks 'the common tongue' or its mentioned that a character is from another place but never speaks that language.

Not to mention that language barriers are fucking hilarious to work with.

My dude, my buddy, my pal,
I can barely handle writing in 1 language and learning 2, coming up with one would make my head explode

My guy.
You just gotta mash letters together and call it good.
ORRRRRRRRRRR
You use google translate and translate whatever the character says into an obscure language and shift the letters around a bit and BAM you got a language.

My characters just got a dog in my story! (Dream wolf technically)

Good tips!
I use google translate for naming places mostly

I used google translate to get the name for the somnia (my characters’ species/race)(somnia is Latin for dreams)

You could pretty easily get continuity errors with that.

Ahhhhh. I see. I usually take notes when I do that though, so I keep track.

When there's several points of view and one of the characters kills one of the other characters SO or something and you see both of their points of view and end up sympathizing with both because it's done so well
