“I have one somewhere… It might be in my locker, though,” Sterling answered with a shrug.
“I have one somewhere… It might be in my locker, though,” Sterling answered with a shrug.
“Use that, then. Graphing with it is better,” Eden looked at him. “Are you done eating?”
“Almost,” Sterling mumbled before shoving his last forkful into his mouth. He picked up his trash and carried it over to the garbage bin, throwing it away before making his way over to Eden. “We have about ten minutes to cuddle, I think… Unless we skip, which I’m all for skipping PE today.”
Eden sat up straight as he approached her, her heart hiccuping at his words. She tried focusing on his last words instead of the cuddling bit. “Isn’t it Blue day today?” She quirked an eyebrow. “We share fourth block on Black days, which is PE.”
Sterling clicked his tongue, sitting on the edge of the couch near her. “Dang, you’re right… I can skip graphic design, too. That’s not as important as PE, anyway.”
“I have a test. I can’t skip,” Eden muttered dejectedly. She tried not to skip classes she had a test in, but at that moment, she really wanted to skip. She moved closer to him unconsciously. “Unfortunately.”
“Darn,” Sterling murmured, noticing her move closer and shifting so that he could wrap his arm around her. “You said that, too… Well, then, I guess we’ll be going back to school.”
Eden tried fighting off the small smile from her face when he shifted and wrapped an arm around her, but she failed. She snuggled into his side, eyes closed. “As I thought… your embrace feels relaxing…”
“Does it? I’m glad you think so,” Sterling murmured, turning to fully embrace her and tug her down so that they were laying side by side.
Eden felt a flutter in her chest at his actions. She responded by snuggling further into him, questioning what they were doing, but she didn’t pull away. She closed her eyes, burying her face in his chest. “It’s soothing,” she murmured. “I should stop talking now.”
Sterling chuckled and began to run his fingers through her hair. “Why is that? I like hearing your voice.”
Eden snorted, though she felt warmth flooding through her at both his actions and his words. "No, you probably like the compliments. Narcissist…"
“Well, can I help liking compliments that come from beautiful lips?” Sterling hummed in question, rubbing her back gently.
Eden stiffened at his words. Beautiful lips. Oh, God. Then he began to rub her back gently and she relaxed. He didn't mean anything by that. He was just flirting, nothing more.
She wanted to feel his lips on hers again, this time not just as a ghost touch.
"You certainly have a smooth tongue, don't you?" she muttered, burying her face deeper in his chest to hide the blush on her cheeks.
“Once again, I’m going to refrain from making a joke about that comment,” Sterling murmured with a soft chuckle. “But yes, I do. You should have known that by now.”
Eden scowled at his words, smacking him on the chest, lifting her head and directing her glare towards him.
"You and your dirty brain," she repeated. "You flirted with me the first time we met, too."
Sterling grinned and swept a feather-light kiss to the tip of her nose. “Of course I did. I thought you were beautiful and intriguing. And I still do.”
Eden felt her cheeks heat up again, turning a darker shade of red, more so because of the kiss than his words.
“You are… unbelievable, Sterling Ainsley,” she breathed. “Absolutely unbelievable.”
“One of my many traits,” Sterling replied simply, burying his face in her hair again.
“… how much time do we have left?” Eden questioned quietly as if she didn’t want to know. She really didn’t want to get out of his arms. She enjoyed it, and they weren’t even dating. Once he got a girlfriend…—her heart clenched at the thought—they’ll need to stop this.
“I think it’s about sixteen minutes,” Sterling murmured his response, twisting a lock of her hair around his finger.
Eden’s eyes closed, tangling their legs together. At this point, Eden stopped caring about their actions. “Wasn’t it ten minutes earlier…?” Eden murmured, feeling a shudder go through her.
“Was it? Shoot… then it’s probably closer to six,” Sterling murmured. “We should start heading back soon…”
“Yeah, we should…” Eden sighed. “Well, then… I suppose you’ll need to release me now.”
“Or…” Sterling trailed off with a smirk. He arms swept behind her knees and her head, and he scooped her up as he stood from the couch. “I could just carry you.”
Eden barely managed to hold back a yelp of surprise, arms wrapping around his neck tightly. “Sterling!” She exclaimed, surprised at his actions. “What are you doing?”
“I just told you. I’m carrying you,” Sterling laughed, grinning down at her. “Would you prefer that I don’t?”
But I’m not your girlfriend, Eden wanted to say. She swallowed the words, resting her head on his shoulder, refusing to look up at him. “You make me so conflicted…”
“And why is that?” Sterling asked, stepping away from the couch toward the door.
Eden sighed, closing her eyes. “It’s difficult to explain,” she muttered quietly. “Let’s hurry up, hm?”
