After they left, Amato breathed out a sigh of relief. “You can come out now,” he told Skye, leaning against the wall as he waited for the other to appear
Skye looked up at him, stepping out of the corner. "That could've gotten me killed.." he said.
“I highly doubt Dwyer would kill you. He doesn’t like fighting, it’s not in his nature,” Amato said. “Now come on, let’s hurry up and get you that treasure.”
Skye nodded, "Lead the way" he said, gesturing for the other to lead on.
Amato nodded, leading them down a large spiral staircase before reaching a large door. “You ready?” he asked with a small grin
Skye nodded, getting a bit bored with the theatrics as he triple checked the next room, and behind them, for any guards or danger.
Amato pulled the door open, revealing a lavish room full of treasure up to the ceiling in places. “Alright, find something kinda mediocre I guess. Like a coin or something,” he said with a shrug
Skye blinked, "They weren't kidding about 'Legendary Treasures…'" he said, using a whisp of aura to grab a couple of coins. "The second is for the fact that I nearly got killed, and later bragging rights.." he said smugly.
“Yeah, there’s a lot of shit here, with the magic stuff buried around here somewhere,” Amato said, shrugging as he took a brief moment to stretch
Skye nodded, having already sensed some of the enchanted stuff. "So, you got any easy ways out?" he asked.
“Yeah. There’s a doorway that leads from here to outside the walls, you can take that and run with your prize,” Amato answered, gesturing towards the far end of the room
Skye nodded, heading for it. But then he paused. "I've seen other royals outside the fortress before, but I've never seen you until now.." he said, "Don't you ever come out?" he asked.
“Why would I be allowed out when my brothers can do everything my father needs done? I have been long forgotten, and it’ll be like that until I’m dead,” Amato said with a small shrug, trying to be as casual as he could telling some strange thief his sob story
Skye watched him for a moment longer. "Then why do you stay here?" he asked. "Why not see the world?"
“Because what world is worth living in without someone to share it with?” Amato said, voice softening as he twirled one of his rings. “My father killed my twin, and now I’m trapped. My retainers don’t even answer to me anymore. Dwyer is the only friend I have, and he’s never left the castle either.”
Skye's breath caught at the mention of a twin. He'd seen first hand how painful that could be, after witnessing his younger brothers. "I.. I don't know what to say…." he said honestly. "Maybe.. Maybe come with me?" he suggested, a bit hesitant. He hated seeing others upset.
(AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! I'm sorry, but first he was a tough guy but now he's a softie…. You gonna break readers heart with that boi…..)
(He’s meant to be a big ol softie under the tough exterior :>)
Amato just gave a soft, dry laugh at that. “You wouldn’t care enough to pity some poor, forgotten prince. And it would be a cold day in hell before I left Dwyer here. I’m the only friend he’s ever known. And you wouldn’t get anything out of helping us.”
Skye shook his head. "I know what It's like to be alone with only one friend in the entire world." He said quietly. "I've been on the streets since I was little. The world may have been full of people, but I was always ignored." He sighed, decidjng not to go any further into his past. "If you can get Dwyer back here, I might be able to get both of you out."
Amato looked amazed at first, really. But he quickly snapped out of it. “In…In that case, let me go find him,” he said, making his way back towards the staircase
Skye nodded, settling against the wall to wait for the other's return. "Make sure you're quick!" He called, the last thing he needed was to get caught.
Amato just waved him off as he ran, ascending the tower once again.
After about ten minutes, Amato returned with Dwyer, the two in full armor and traveling gear. In better light, Dwyer looked a lot younger now, but terribly tired, his soft blonde hair obscuring a good portion of his face. He looked shy, keeping his eyes off of the others
Skye nodded, watching them both. "Good, now how about we get outta here?" He asked, turning to open the door. His demeanor had changed slightly as his usual confidence came back.
Amato nodded, adjusting a strap on his armor. “We’ve got about ten minutes to get out if we go through the nearest wall, the rounds will make it through by then. Though I have to warn you, there’s…anti-me precautions out there…”
Skye rolled his eyes. "Can't be that bad." He said, "It'll be a lot easier than getting in!" He smirked, then opened the door. He scanned the area with his telepathy before making a run for the far wall.
Amato just inwardly groaned as he jogged after Skye, or, well, what would count as running for a normal person. Dwyer was mumbling something to himself that sounded vaguely like "Wish I'd had a nap first," and "Lucky I'm his friend," to which Amato had to resist laughing at
Skye kept running till he reached the gate, which was conveniently empty due to a guard change. Pulling something out of his pocket he quickly got to work on the lock.
Amato tapped his foot idly as he waited for Skye to pick the lock, already dreading what was about to come for him. Dwyer looked nervous too, and he hunkered a bit close to Amato
Skye finally cracked it, grinning as he slid the gate open. Lets go mates! he said, using his mental abilities. As soon as the gate was open he bolted into the city streets, looking back only to make sure the other two were following.
Amato made it all of five feet out of the gate before crying out, falling to his knees as something seemed to shock him, pale blue electricity arcing across his body. “A-Amato!” Dwyer exclaimed, running to the shivering prince’s aid
