Sam shrugged. “That I don’t know”
Sam shrugged. “That I don’t know”
Seth gave a sigh. "So long as it wasn't you, we won't have a problem. I just wish I could do something to help. I always did, when I was alive."
Sam turned to see Chris return. “Hey there pal” he greeted the plague doctor. “Oh, you’re his friend right?” He asked Seth while gesturing to Tolkalee.
Hinata was sitting on her bed.
Someone knocked on Hinata’s door. “Hello? Are you awake?” The voice was clearly Matthew.
Hinata walked over to the door and opened it.
"Yes?"
“I forgot to give you something to drink” he handed her a bottle of water and smiled.
Seth gave Chris a nod of greeting. "Do you know what happened to him?"
"Oh, thanks!" Hinata gratefully took the water.
"Hey, have you seen Tolkalee?"
“He told me he was attacked by some of the Knights. He told me that Matthew hurt him, though I highly doubt that he was telling the truth. Not that I don’t trust him, it’s just that I’m pretty sure that Matthew would not hurt a fly” Chris explained to Seth.
Matthew looked to his room. “He’s not in his room?” He asked Hinata.
Hinata shook her head.
"I don't know where he is."
He should be back from the fourth floor by now.
Matthew looked confused. “In that case, I’ll go look for him. Maybe he’s like Cronos who can’t sleep without having a walk” he said to her before waving her farewell and walked downstairs.
"If Tolkalee told you he was attacked by some of the knights, and he came to you for help, that means he trusts you. And he wouldn't lie," Seth looked directly at Chris when he spoke. "Whether you believe him or not, is up to you."
“If that’s coming from his best friend, then I guess I can believe him” Chris said as he hanged his coat to the cloth rack.
Hinata closed the door.
I should find him. The fastest way to find him, though, required a nap…
She flopped on her bed, traveling to her inner sanctum.
With a nod to her companion souls, she walked briskly to the Observatory.
A masked figure was present in Hinata’s mind. They seemed to be messing with her soul companions. Tatsuo and Katsuo were tied together with red vein like strings while the figure locked Kagami in a crimson and golden sphere, disabling her powers.
Hinata sensed something wrong. She turned back and started back towards the Garden, where her companion souls were.
"You're screwed," Tatsuo spat out.
Tolkalee stirred, slowly sitting up and looking around the room. Then he seemed to remember what had happened, and looked at Chris. "How long was I out?"
Hinata reached the Garden.
"Who are you?!" She shouted. Everything vibrated, the ground shook, and flakes of blue fell from the sky.
"Again, screwed."
The masked figure grinned under his mask. The vein like strings that tie Tatsuo and Katsuo together turned into sharper versions of strings, cutting them as the figure moved. From neck to waist, Tatsuo and Katsuo were cut and pierced. The masked figure walked away, turning his head away from Hinata and took off his mask. He threw the mask above his head and it landed on Tatsuo’s lap while he disintegrated into red dust.
Chris looked at his watch. “About an hour? I mean I just came in…” Chris said to Tolkalee.
"Yeah, that's not gonna fly." Hinata motioned towards Tatsuo and Katsuo. They were healed almost instantaneously.
"Toss me that mask."
Tolkalee's eye landed on Seth who stood off to the side of the room. "Hey," he mumbled.
"What happened," Seth demanded. "Start from the beginning so I can decide if I need to punch you for being an idiot or not."
The mask in Hinata’s mind was one of a dragoon. It had two small silvers horn, golden eyes, ghost white teeth and fangs, the rest of the mask was red and was precisely made.
Hinata pocketed the mask.
"Yall are coming with me this time." She started towards the Observatory again, the three souls in tow.
Chris and Sam looked at each other. “Should we leave them be?” Chris asked. Sam nodded as they both walked out the room.
Hinata plopped down in her seat by the telescope and started looking for Tolkalee.
"Where are you…"
Tolkalee sighed, and shifted so that he was sitting on the edge of the bed. "We all went to Matthew's house to stay for the night and he told us not to go to the forth floor. I thought nothing of it at first. And went to my room. Unable to sleep I decided to go for a walk. I ran into Cronos. Glancing back at the house I saw a light on, on the forth floor. Asking Cronos what the figures behind the curtains were. And that got me frozen in time. Now unable to trust people I went to go check it out. And then I was attacked by Cassius, Matthew, Cronos and a man that I don't remember the name of. And then Chris found me and here we are."
