Val twitched her tail slightly, the woman came over from before and picked the baby from her paws. Val stood and stretched, starting to head outside. One of the kids broke away from the little group and attempted to climb on Val's back but was too short. Val barked a little laugh and crouched down so the child could get on
Kerrian huffed a laugh and padded towards Val and the child. He then jumped and hovered in the air, flying just above the two.
Val glanced up and tilted her head playfully before trotting off towards the streets, some of the other kids following
Kerrian flew over head, doing small flips here and there to entertain the kids.
The kids giggled in happiness and danced around. Val shifted and carried the girl in her arms, glancing at the kids and Kerrian and smiling. The kids glanced behind them to look at Val but started to wimper and cry at the sight of two approaching guards. Val turned to see what they were afraid of and stopped walking
Kerrian came and stood beside Val, eyes narrowing at the two guards. If he'd had enough space he would have shifted into his bigger form.
Val usher the kids back to the building and faced the guards "sirs." One man jumped down dmfrom his horse and bowed "your highness. Please step aside." The guard moved fowards
" And may I ask why?" She asked, blocking the guards path.
"The dragon."
“I’m with her.” He growled, taking a step towards Val.
Unfazed by the dragon talking, the guard smirked "of course you're with her. It's not a surprise to anyone that the Queen of Nalra would take in enemy citizens." The guards behind him laughed along
"I'd hold my tongue, captain." Val warned softly
"I'm not the enemy," Kerrian snapped, growing in size so he was bigger then Val and nearly the same height as the guards, "I'm helping her majesty."
"are you now? And how would one like you help." The guard ask, ignoring Val's growl of a protest.
Val sighed and place a gentle hand on Kerrian's neck, warning him not to grow anymore "that is enough."
Kerrian growled, the blue on his wings glaring brightly for a moment but he didn’t reply.
"Thank you." She muttered “now you will be taking no one anywhere.”she said to the guard “and i swear, if i here of anyone taking anyone hostage. Your position will ultamtly be terminated with consequences." She narrowed her eyes
"Of course your highness." The guard muttered with a bow
Kerrian growled lowly again, shooting a small ball of blue flame at the guards feet.
The guard glared back but did not retaliate. Val watched the guards leave and heaved a sigh, turning to Kerrian "was that necessary?" She asked with a raised eyebrow, trying to hide a small smile
Kerrian huffed, ruffling his wings slightly, "Yes. Yes it was."
She rolled her eyes, not trying to hide the smile anymore "come on dragon, let's check on the kids." She started walking to the building
Kerrian let out another small burst of blue light and shrunk down to his smaller size, landing on Val's shoulder.
She walked back to building, getting a few strange looks from people who had come out to see what had happened. Val just smiled and nodded, making her to the orphanage. "You guys ok?" She asked, crouching down to the kids level as they approached. They all nodded "will they take me dragon away?" A little girl asked
Kerrian huffed a small laugh, "They'd have to catch me first."
The girl smiled softly and nodded, reaching a hand up and petting Kerrian's head gently "Val wouldn't let it happen. Right?" She asked, looking up at the queen. She shook her head "never."
Kerrian made a sort of happy bird noise at that and leaned down so the girl could pet him easier.
Vla smiled softly sitting on the floor. She shook her head as the girl carrying the girl offered her a chair. "If only everyone agreed. She muttered softly, glancing down at the ground, lost in thought
Kerrian looked to Val and sighed softly through his snout. He nodded his head a little in agreement.
She smiled back and petted his head, knowing he hated it but doing it anyways. She sighed and stood "we've got to go." She stood asd dusted off
Kerrian nodded again and stretched out, ruffling his wings a little.
Val held out her arm to steady Kerrian and hugged the children "I'll see you soon. Stay safe." He said to them, heading out the doors
Kerrian sent a small blue heart of flame towards the children before curling up around Val’s neck.
The kids giggled happily and danced around. "And I thought you said you didn't like kids?" Val asked coyly as they headed out "you liar."
"Shuddup fae…" He grumbled, muttering some other stuff and ending it with a huff.
