"There isn't really anthing I can do. I mean, I have no living relatives, Alice killed them all years ago, and most of the court is corrupt. I wish there was someone else, but there isn't. It's my responsibility, and it's more important then dancing on a stage."
"Responsibilities. You're really choosing responsibility over dreams? That's not the Scarlet I know."
She bit her lip. "It's not more important to me personally. But I can't just run away. I have an obligation to do it."
Cade sighed and leaned back, chuckling a little. "Of course. I wouldn't know about that."
"About obligations or running away?"
"Both." He shook his head.
"Well, you're here now, so I guess you know a bit about running away." Scarlet fiddled with her necklace.
He smirked. "I guess I do." Cade paused, leaning forward again. "When are you thinking about returning to your kingdom? Until then, the place is probably going crazy."
"I guess soon, maybe even as soon as tomorrow." Scarlet hated how sad she felt about it.
"Are you sure you're the only one who can take over? You really don't seem like you want to do this."
"I don't, but I'm the only one. That's just how life is sometimes."
Cade sighed sadly, nodding. "Yeah…"
"Where will you go after this?"
He chuckled once more. "That's a good question."
The council came in, bowing on one knee.
"Her Majesty, Queen Wilhelmina Alice Kajareste the first of Wonderland."
“You could always come live st the palace.”, Scarlet offered again, sounding a bit more hopeful than she’d like.

He smiled at how hopeful she sounded. "Thanks, but if I lived there I'd probably have to convince my family to move. They won't let me live by myself yet, but my parents are really attached to my house."
“Oh.” She tried not to sound too disappointed as her heart fell. “Would you visit?”
Cade grinned. "Defiantly."
Her spirits rose a bit. “That would be nice.” She smiled.

He wasn't sure how to respond, so he continued to smile as he leaned back in the chair.

Scarlet looked away from Cade, not trusting herself enough to be able to handle his smile.

Willow stared, mouth agape as the council placed the crown over her head.
"We're announcing it now. With you. Come." one of the council members grabbed her hand and led her to the dressing room. "You need to look acceptable."
"Is the ball over? You should probably head back to the castle."
Her face betrayed her sadness for a split second before she quickly masked it. See? He doesn’t want you around. “Yeah.” She got up. “Tell Harper where I went, and also that she and Quinn are welcome to rooms in the palace.” Unless you want to come with me.

Harper sat in her sister's room, listening to another sisterly lecture. "……….and on top of all this, you have to tell Scarlet."
"No! How do I even tell her?"
"You'll figure it out."
"I don't even know if I CAN do this!"

"Are leaders of the rebellion. We, as REBELS, do not have any say in political affairs! Even if we're royals!"

Willow stepped into the dressing room and three woman immediately rushed over, measuring, touching and talking to her. They retreated to the back room and came up with a dress.
