His eyes shine, despite their dark, emptiness.
“I said leave. She’s not who you think she is. Not anymore.”
His wings flare behind him and he takes a step forward.

Miki's eyes went wide as his wings appeared, but she held her ground, shielding Silver with her body. With one hand she reached into her pocket and pulled out her own knife, easing up off her knees but keeping between him and her sister. "No. I don't care if she's changed. It's been five years, of course she's not the same with who knows what you did to her. But she's my sister and that will never change."

I didn’t hurt her, you idiot.
His eyes widen, though still glaring, and a hard, thick wind comes in, specifically targeting Miki and knocking her off of her feet. He wastes no time, and the second the wind starts to make her unbalanced, he lunges towards Sil and grabs her. The wind calms and he goes to fly, but his lungs immediately start to burn and he begins to cough.
No flying, Gabriel. You have to do it on foot.
He starts off, coughing and turning to run down a back alley.

"No!" Miki screamed, rolling over as she was blown and scrambling up to her feet. The wind disorientated her and she whipped around, trying to find him. "No! You can't take her!" She saw him as he stumbled away, Silver's body in his arms, and she took off after him, fighting the wind.

The wind dies down, back to a calm breeze as he races towards the nearest trees- the city park. He runs towards them and once inside their thick cover sets Silver down.
He falls to his knees beside her, palms on the ground, coughing violently and trying to catch his breath.
Cmon, cmon. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. BREATHE OH MY WORD.
He winces, leaning forward so his forehead touches the ground. His lungs and throat burn and he fails to breathe.
Help.
He lets go of everything mentally, letting Silver blink awake, he becomes completely visible, and his emotions and feelings spread around him.

Silver woke from her dreams exhausted as her mind had tried to relive and put in order all the recurring memories. She blinked up at the trees above her, unsure for a moment where she was. Then she felt Gabriel beside her, and heard him fighting to breathe. She looked over and reached out to him, gathering up some air and gently forcing it down his throat and into his lungs. After a moment she pulled the air out again and pushed some fresh air in, metering her help to keep him from hyperventilating. "It's okay," she whispered, touching his arm, not having enough energy to even get up. "It's okay, Gabe." Tears leaked from her eyes as she tried to keep her own feelings contained for the moment. They couldn't both be a mess at the same time.

He continues to cough and struggle to breathe, shoving her hand off and looking away. He closes his eyes tightly and whimpers a little before again trying to breathe.
It hurts! Find the air! You’re a stupid AIR ELEMENTAL! Breathe!!

Silver closed her eyes, sorting her emotions and Gabriel's apart, trying to organize them. Come on, she told herself. Come on, you have to help him. He'd never been this raw before and she couldn't just let him lay there and fight all alone.

Finally she found the strength to roll over onto her stomach and moved closer to him. "You're okay, Gabe. You can do it."

He grabs the grass and starts to cough again, trying to gasp for air and actually getting a little.
Calm down. If you keep freaking out you'll die here. Deep breaths. Don't think about the redhead.
Great, now I'm thinking about the red head.
Tears start to spill from his dark eyes, both from frustration and lack of air.

"Shhh" Silver sat up beside him and wrapped her arms around his chest, gently pulling him back and tipping his head to rest on her shoulder. "Slowly, it's okay. Gabe, you're okay. Slowly." She gently pressed air into his lungs and slowly drew it back out, in and out. "Shhh, just breathe. One thing at a time."

Miki ran up, gasping for breath as she had finally found them. "Silver! There you are! I thought–"

Without even turning to look, or pausing in giving Gabe air, she grabbed all the energy around Miki and yanked her down beside her.

"Shut up, Miki."

"What? Sil, I–"

Silver flicked her hand at Miki and suddenly her sister's words were gone, no matter how hard she tried to yell, no sound came out.

I can't do this. Silver thought, struggling not to cry. One thing at a time. Help Gabe. He needs you most right now.

"You can do it, Gabe. Slowly. You're okay."

He chokes, then let’s a breath out slowly. And then successfully breathes in.
I’m fine. I’m- I’m… fine.
He opens his eyes, just to close them again and his breathing starts to level more, though it’s still jerky and sharp.
I- I need to get her away… away from the- the redhead.

"Shhh," Silver continued soothing him, gently stroking his hair. "Good job. One breath at a time, Gabriel." She could feel Miki beside her, struggling against the invisible box she had put around her, but she ignored her. Gabe's emotions raged beside her and Miki's presence was making him worse. Fix Gabe first. Keep him alive.

He blinks a few times, coughs a little more, then sits up. He leans forward and puts his palms on the ground for a minute again as he collects himself. It still hurt and burnt and it was still hard to breathe, but he’d make it.
He turns his head sharply and through his watery, dark eyes he glares at Miki.
He sets aside his inner conflict, pulling Sil closer to him.

Silver watched him, making sure he was okay, and nearly burst into tears when he put his arms around her. She clung to him, feeling terrible as she left her sister trapped in silence.
"She's okay," she whispered to Gabe. "She's my sister. She's okay. She won't hurt us." Tears slipped down her face and she took a deep shaky breath. "I remember her. Gabe, I remember everything. I didn't realize I had forgotten so much but I remember it all now."

Oh MY WORD
NO
He runs his cold fingers through her blonde hair, still glaring at Miki.
Maybe I’m happy for her? No. She won’t want me. She’ll only need Miki.
A few more tears run down his cheeks.
She’ll leave…

Silver frowned, feeling the sharp panic, the fear inside him. Fear over her. He tried to hide it but she could feel it, faint and deep inside.
"Hey," she sat up, arms still around him, and looked into his face. "Hey, what's wrong? We're okay now. You're breathing. You're alive. I'm okay. I'm alive. We're okay now, Gabriel." She smoothed his hair again and sniffed, tears still falling as she blinked.

He keeps his eyes fixed on Miki, still running his fingers through Silvers hair.
Its okay. She doesn’t have to care about me. It’s okay. I have to take her in anyways.
But- But her family.

Shadow pointed to a parking garage “I could hack in from up their”

Cage nods, gulping down his fear.
“That sounds… smart.”
He tightens his grip around his own stomach and forces a smile. Once Shadow look away he took Leo’s hand.
“Hey, sorry, I’m not used to doing these kind of things really. Ben really doesn’t like me to. But I’ll help out as much as I can.”

“It’s fine” he reassuringly
Shadow started walking towards the parking garage “the top to levels being rebuilt but they gave up and just said that that area was off limits.”

Silver saw him glaring at Miki and glanced at her over her shoulder. Her sister sat crosslegged, elbows on her knees, chin in her hands, glaring back at Gabe. She raised her eyebrows at Silver and Silver could feel the anger and pain and frustration and fear now directed at her.
Torn between Miki and Gabe, feeling and absorbing both of their emotional storms, Silver's heart almost stopped. It was so much.
But then she looked back at Gabe and she thought she understood. Caught between two people she loved, two people who both thought the other would hurt her.
"Oh, no." She whispered and laid her head down on Gabe's shoulder again.
Help. I can't do this. Not right now. I love you both. Please don't make me fight for both of you.
She grasped a handful of Gabe's hair and stopping holding back her tears, letting the sobs out.

Gabriel slips his right arm around her back and under her wings, and presses his cheek against hers. He peels his eyes off of Miki and brings his left arm around, pulling Silvers wing across his lap and beginning to gently preen it with expert care.
I can’t just not bring her back. What would they do to Kissa if I failed?
I can’t just take her, she has family here.

“It’s fine” he reassuringly
Shadow started walking towards the parking garage “the top to levels being rebuilt but they gave up and just said that that area was off limits.”

(XD they just gave up on the construction? XD)(lol)

Cage nods. “Ok. Just coach me through what I should do.”

Her sobs came harder as he held her close and she poured her energy unto him, finally feeling a small respite.
I need you both. I can't pick. Don't make me choose between you.
She tried to control her hiccuping sobs so she could speak but they wouldn't calm.

I can’t protect them both. It’s Kissa or Silver.
Kissa or Silver…
Gah, this shouldn’t be this hard!
He glares back over to Miki.
Silver already has someone. I’m all Kiss has got.

She finally caught her breath enough to speak. "I need you too." She choked, still clinging to him. "You know what I've been through. You help me control my powers. Miki can't do that. She's normal. Thank goodness, she's normal, but she can't help me like you do. She can't replace you, Gabe."

Kiss needs me more. You’ll have to do with just Miki.
He looks down to Silver, forcing a very, very faint and pale smile.
You'll be fine.

She could feel a shift inside him. He'd made up his mind about something. She looked up at him, tears still dripping from her chin, but her breath steady now. She gently wiped his face from the tears he had shed. "Please?" she whispered. "It'll be okay. I won't abandon you, I promise. No one could replace you."

I know. I know. But I have to leave. I’ll take someone else.
He runs his fingers down her feathers again.
“I know.” He quietly states.

She smiled and relaxed, letting out a shaky breathe as her chest calmed down from her sobs. Finally. She laid her head on his shoulder again and hugged him. "Good."
Now I have to figure out what to do with Miki.
