Arthur changed directions again, but his injured paw caught on a root, causing him to stumble, then trip and fall flat on his face.

Shadow and his friends found him. "Finally, we get to attack you. It'll be worse than usual because you tried escaping. Attack!" He and his friends started attacking Arthur.

Arthur yelped as one of them bit down on his shoulder, and he quickly tried to pull away, trying to use his powers to shield against another attack. Soon all he could do was take the beating, but he made no other sound and he forced himself not to cry after the first yelp, no matter how much it hurt.

After a while Shadow and his friends finally stopped. "Now go! If we ever cross paths again you know what's coming!" Shadow said.

Arthur forced himself up, and forced himself to look Shadow in the eye. "Where's your alpha…" he asked his voice quavering.
