"Mmmmmfph." was her response as he rolled over.
"Mmmmmfph." was her response as he rolled over.
"I feel ya," she muttered, then said fuck it and snuggled into the covers, begging sleep to come back. It didn't work. But at least she was content to just lay there.
"What….time is it?" he mumbled, shoving his face into his pillow.
"'Round nineish," she replied without looking at a clock. She could feel the position of the sun in her bones.
He agreed that they needed to get up, but he really didn't want to. "Mhhhhhph."
"Ditto," she chuckled.
"Do I….gotta get up?" he asked.
She nuzzled the crook of his neck. "Mmmm," she hummed against his skin.
He shivered slightly, but didn't pull away. "Take that a a no?"
"It's not a yes," she said coyly.
He snorted, slowly snaking an arm around her side and pulling her closer to him.
"I kinda just want to stay here," she sighed, wrapping her own arm around him.
"But we probably got stuff to do." It was a weak argument, one Runner wasn't very sure why he was making.
"School's out today," she mumbled.
He settled back into his spot, smiling. "Lazy day. How long has it been since we've had one of those?"
"Never," she snorted.
"I wonder what madness will drag us out of bed today," he said cynically, scratching the bridge of his nose with his free hand.
She blindly held a finger to is lips. "Sshhhhhh. No jinxing."
"It's not jinxing, it's preparing." He pushed her hand away gently. "I'm just formulating complaints in my head so I don't have to come up with them on the fly."
She groaned. "You're such a complainer." She finally opened her eyes to look at him with a pout. "Why don't you want to be lazy with me?"
"I never said I was gonna get up, love." He kissed her forehead. "I'm just preparing for the worst."
"Stop that," she muttered. "No one's gonna be stupid enough to attack here again." Indeed, Tessa had told the King and the Oracle about the attacks, and they raised the defences. All the gods were on high alert. No one was slipping through again. Any stranger was instantly suspect.
He sighed. "I'm not trying to be cynical, but he has my blood. Or- I have his. He still might be able to sneak in."
She rolled so she was now hovering over him, looking down at him with her beat stern look while sleep still held its haze around her mind.
He put his hands up in surrender. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry."
"You'd better be. I savor my mornings and you're ruining it." Her voice lacked the accusatory tone, however. She just looked desperate for a normal day without their enemies haunting their minds.
He smiled apologetically. "Savor away, then. I'll just keep my mouth shut."
"Hmm. Good." She leaned down, biting his lips playfully. She just wanted some fun today.
He raised his eyebrows, smiling slightly. "Oh?" I'm probably blushing like a madman.
She nuzzled her nose against his, a smile of her own growing. "I get to have my fun." She wasn't going to repeat last night. She just wanted to play and to touch him.
