Lillian massaged her temple, leaning against the counter.
“I thought so,” she said quietly. “As long as he’s getting there.”
Lillian massaged her temple, leaning against the counter.
“I thought so,” she said quietly. “As long as he’s getting there.”
“He is. He’s definitely getting better,” Amber assured her softly. “It’s good seeing him as he gets better. Even just now, I was a little surprised that he listened to me and calmed down some.”
“That surprised me, too,” Lillian admitted. “He’s prone to outbursts. I expected him to rage about it for a while longer. It was a good thing she turned back. I don’t even know why I’m letting her stay here.”
Amber sighed, nodding slowly. “Yeah… He told me what happened with her…”
“He did?” Lillian looked up in surprise. Before she could continue, William strolled over, hands in his pockets. He wrapped an arm around Amber, kissing her cheek.
“I hope you haven’t been embarrassing me in front of my girlfriend,” he said. His mother only grinned.
“You didn’t give her time to!” Amber protested with a laugh, leaning into his side.
“Good,” William murmured, looking at his mother. “I want her gone. I don’t care how you do. I want her gone.”
Lillian didn’t say anything. She merely sighed.
“I’ll try my best,” she answered quietly. “But I can’t promise anything. She’s only staying for a few days.”
“Good,” William said, looking away. “So what were you talking about?”
“How amazing you are,” Amber teasedwith a chuckle, nudging his side playfully. “How proud we are of you and everything you do.”
“Perfect,” he nodded. “At least you can recognize my amazing self.”
Lillian snorted, shaking her head.
“Says the man who used to follow me around like a duckling,” she teased before turning to Amber. “Did you know that? He never left me alone. He was such a mama’s child.”
Amber’s smile grew into a playful grin. “Aw, that’s sweet. I can totally see you as a mama’s boy, Will.”
“I didn’t follow you everywhere,” William grumbled, jabbing a finger in his girlfriend’s side. “And I wasn’t a mama’s boy. I just liked being near you.”
Amber jumped with a surprised yelp when she was jabbed in the side. She shot her boyfriend a playful glare and leaned away from him. “Sure, hun. I think your mother would remember more than you would, hm?”
William pulled her back casually, tightening his hold on her.
“Ah, wait till his fathet gets home,” Lillian chuckled. “Then I’ll show you all of his baby pictures and videos.”
“Now that sounds wonderful,” Amber chuckled, poking William in the side as revenge.
“It does not,” William grumbled, but knew he couldn’t do anything about it.
Amber grinned and reached up to peck his cheek again. “It does so. Sorry, hun, but you’re outnumbered here.”
“Well then,” Lillian released a breath. “I’ll get started on lunch. You both rest up.”
Amber fixed the older woman with a smile, nodding. “Thank you, Mrs. Jones. It was a pleasure to finally meet you.”
“Please, call me Lillian,” Lillian smiled. “Now go. Don’t bother her too much, William.”
William rolled his eyes before pulling Amber along, stepping inside his room and shutting the door.
Amber chuckled softly as she was pulled along, then smiled up at her boyfriend when they were in his room. “I like your mother.”
William rested his hands on her waist, pulling her closer. “She just offered to show you embarrassing moments of your boyfriend,” William rolled his eyes. “Of course you do.”
“True,” Amber chuckled, wrapping her arms around his neck. “She told us to rest, hun… Shall we do so?”
His eyes flickered to her mouth. “There are some better things I would like to do so, honestly.”
Amber raised her eyebrows and teasingly wet her lips, her tongue running over her lower lip. “And what, pray tell, would that be?”
William smirked and bent down so his lips were near her ear, hot breath fanning the organ.
“Like kissing you breathless,” he answered in a low voice. “Or until you whisper my name while I’m devouring your mouth. Maybe both.”
“Ah… Yes, I see how that would be more appealing,” Amber breathed, one of her hands finding his hair and running her fingers through it.
“Glad that you do,” William responded, breathing her in slowly. “So, should I?”
Amber hummed, turning her head slightly to brush her nose against his cheek. “I think that sounds like a good idea, Will. Don’t you?”
William chuckled, shaking his head. “Of course I do. I think it’s a fantastic idea.”
“Then what are you waiting for, Will?” Amber murmured, tugging at his hair.
