She could still feel her heart beating worryingly fast in her ears. But there was a rush to it all that she would never forget.

Dorian climbed out of the water and flopped down on the grass, knowing he couldn't dress until he was dryer then he was. He looked over to Fiona and grinned.

She pulled herself out of the water, squeezing her hair to get the water out before noticing him. "What are you doing?"

"Drying off," He replied, making grabby hands at her, "Lie with me, pleeease." He attempted his best puppy dog eyes.

She couldn't help but smile. He really was too cute for his own good. "Fine, fine, give me a minute." She chuckled, finishing squeezing the water our of her hair before lying by his side. "There. Happy?"

Dorian pulled her to his side, nuzzling his face into the crook of her neck, "Very much so."

She rolled her eyes with a smile. "Dork." She giggled softly.

Dorian smiled, "I know, no need to tell me. My siblings tell me enough."

"Well they're not here right now so I guess that means it's my job to, doesn't it?"

He chuckled, pressing a kiss to her cheek, "Being cheeky now are we, my lady?"

"What can I say? You kind of asked for it." She smiled innocently, biting her lip to hold back laughter.

Dorian gasped in mock offence, “I did not! How dare you accuse me of something lady!”

"It's not an accusation if it's true." She giggled, her smile never fading.

"I guess you have a point…" He mumbled.

"Welcome to being a writer. Making points is kind of my entire thing."

“Promise me you’ll read me a story of yours sometime, I’d love to hear one.”

She blushed, no one ever wanted to hear her stories since she was supposed to be the elegant and graceful one as the oldest and just thought she was weird. "Of course, if you'd like to."

Dorian grinned, "I'd love to. I've never known a writer before but I love reading and I have no doubt your work is magnificent."

"Well, I don't know about that. I'm supposed to be the elegant and pretty one since I'm the eldest daughter so everyone just thinks it's weird. You're the first person that's been interested."

He snorted, "Stuff everyone else and their expectations. If they don't want to read your work then they are missing out."

"I mean, I don't know if you could say that. They're not missing too much if you ask me."

"I don't care. In my opinion they're missing out on something spectacular."

"You have a high opinion of a lot of people, don't you?"

He shrugged, "Only the ones I like. Most people I know are rude and incompetent."

"I second that." She sighed heavily. "The amount of people I've seen that only get know because they're pretty."

"Yeah, that too. And whenever I meet people like you or me I never get to talk to them for very long as they're dragged away shortly after we meet."

"Yeah, but it's always sweet while it lasts, isn't it?"

He hummed his agreement, "Yes, it is. Hopefully you won't be leaving anytime soon."

"I mean, I certainly hope not." She flashed a slight smile, resting her head on his shoulder.

He smiled back, “I hope so too.”
