“It happened before… it’ll happen again and you’ll get hurt trying to stop her.”
“It happened before… it’ll happen again and you’ll get hurt trying to stop her.”
“But I’m here this time, and this time she won’t take you. I don’t care if I get hurt, I’m not letting her take you.”
He was quiet, not quite believing it.
“I won’t let her Kyle” he repeated.
Again, he didn’t reply, just shook his head a little as a couple more tears fell.
Caleb looked down, trying to push down unwanted feelings.
“I…” He started quietly, “I’m a monster, aren’t I?”
“No!” He said quickly “no Kyle…you aren’t. You are the furthest thing from it.”
“How can you be so sure about that? I… I… froze those people without even wanting too… they’re gone because of me… I can’t control it, and on top of that I’m going insane, seeing things that aren’t even there…”
“You didn’t want to Kyle and that’s the point, you never meant to hurt anyone.”
“But I did! I did, it still happened Caleb and I can’t just ignore the fact that I’m now killing people without meaning to! What if it happens to you? What if I accidently kill you?”
He opened his mouth to reply but he didn’t have an answer.
“Exactly,” He stood up, “I shouldn’t be around you, or anyone. I am a monster.”
Caleb lightly grabbed on to his wrist. “You’re not a monster Kyle. I don’t know much for certain but that I can promise you” he whispered.
He pulled his wrist away, shaking his head, “I… I should go…”
“Kyle please, you can’t leave” he was almost desperate now.
((Oof my soul is being crushed
(Same, all the fEeLs)
Kyle ran his shaking hands through his hair, “You’re not safe around me anymore.”
“I don’t care, I’m not letting you go off on your own somewhere” he said firmly.
“I don’t want you getting hurt, I can’t let you get hurt because of me.” At this point he was crying again.
“I won’t get hurt Kyle. Please…”
He sunk to his knees, muttering inaudible words.
Caleb kneeled next to him “it’s okay, it’s all going to be okay”
He put his head in his hands, shaking and sobbing. At this rate he might have another attack.
Caleb pulled him close, trying to calm him.
He leaned into him, counting to ten then back down and repeating.
He was glad that at the very least, Kyle didn’t push him away.
It was a few minutes before the counting stopping, replaced by silence as Kyle slowly started to fall asleep, exhausted.
He sighed quietly, how had things gotten this bad? Maybe…if he’d stopped them from taking Kyle the first time…
He curled into Caleb, whimpering softly as he did so but he seemed to be asleep.
