Amber looked out the window the whole ride home, silent except for her breathing. That wasn't supposed to happen. She'd gone to a university farther away from her home town just so that would stop happening. It was hard to run into people she'd been with, and it especially shook her to the core now that she was actually in a good relationship with someone.
William parked the car, acutely aware of her tense breathing. He got out, waiting for Amber to do the same. When she did, he went ahead and unlocked the dorm and stepped inside before turning towards his girlfriend.
“Come here,” he said, his voice both stern and softened, and he spread his arms.
Amber blinked once, feeling hot tears burning in her eyes. She slowly started to step forward into his arms before her steps quickened and she nearly collapsed into him. She buried her face in his chest, her arms right around him.
“You weren’t supposed to meet him,” she choked out. “You weren’t supposed to meet any of them…”
William immediately hugged her back, his hold on her tightened right before she buried her face in his chest. William ran his fingers through her hair, eyes falling shut. A buzz of anger flashed through him, but he shot it down.
“It’s okay,” William murmured, feeling the need to punch that man again for making his woman cry. “It’s okay, Blue.”
“You weren’t supposed to find out about this,” Amber mumbled into his shirt. She took a deep breath and pulled away, rubbing at her eyes. “Not this way, anyway. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you…”
William reached out to cradle her face, his thumbs rubbing her wet eyes.
“I don’t care,” he started softly. “About what you did in your past. I don’t care how you lived your life because right now, you’re moving away from it. You’re growing to be a better person. I’m your boyfriend, yes, but I’m not obliged to know everything. I’m especially not obliged to know things you aren’t ready to tell me. So don’t be sorry, Blue. It’s okay, I promise.”
Amber closed her eyes and let out a shuddering breath. She nodded slowly, leaning back into him. “Thank you, Will… That means a lot to me,” she whispered.
William rubbed her back in slowly circles, eyes blazing. Whoever reduced her to like this, he would kill them. He would ruin anyone who hurt his woman. He couldn’t do it earlier, but if he met the man again… William knew he would give in to his rage.
“You don’t have to be afraid of being yourself in front of me,” William promised her. “No matter which new sides you show me, I’ll never think any differently.”
I’ll only continue liking you more and more.
Amber smiled a little, pulling back to cup his cheeks gently. She stretched up into her tiptoes and pressed their lips together for a moment. “Do you want to sit on the couch and watch something?”
William immediately bent down to press their lips harder before she could pull away, taking advantage of her kissing him. God, he missed kissing her. He was addicted.
“If I can hold you, then I’ll do anything with you,” William murmured after he pulled away, running gentle fingers through her hair.
Amber sighed against his lips when he pulled away, rubbing soft circles into his cheek. “Let’s do that, then. Oh, and ice cream. You wanted ice cream earlier. If you want to go get it from the freezer, I’ll set the show up.”
William smiled softly at her, leaning into her touch. He nuzzled her neck before pulling away, missing her warmth.
“I’ll do that,” he said to her. “And Blue?”
Amber blinked up at him, cocking her head to the side. “Yes, Will?”
“I like you,” he said to her seriously. “A lot. And I don’t think I’ll ever stop.” He smiled at her again before he turned around, walking towards the kitchen to get the ice cream.
Amber blushed a little at his words, her smile growing ever so slightly. She chuckled quietly to herself as she made her way to the couch and sat down. He knew just what to say to make her feel better…
Once William had scooped enough ice cream in two bowls, he closed the tub and put it back in the freezer. Grabbing two spoons, he took the bowls and made his way into the living room where he took a seat next to Amber.
“Here,” he held her bowl for her to take. “Your ice cream.”
Amber looked up at him with a small smile as she took the bowl. “Thank you. I was thinking maybe a Marvel movie marathon? Does that sound good?”
William bent down until his head was resting on hers.
“Sounds good to me,” he agreed. “Starting from The First Avenger?”
“Oh, definitely,” Amber confirmed, pressing up to peck his lips. “And on through Infinity War.”
“Am I allowed to initiate kisses now?” William quirked an eyebrow, amusement flickering in his expression. “Or are you still going to torture me?”
(Captain Marvel hasn’t come out yet. Lol.)
“Oh, I suppose,” Amber sighed teasingly. “If you really want to.”
(Oh no, I forgot. 🤣 I’ll edit.)
William immediately set his bowl to the side and pressed their lips together, cupping her cheek and tilting her head to have better access to her mouth.
(Lol.)
Amber set her bowl beside William’s and reached up to rest her hand against his neck. She let her eyes fall shut as she kissed him back, thankful that he didn’t ask her about her past.
William cupped her cheeks, pushing himself against her to kiss her better. Her touch on his neck sent tingles down his spine and he took her lip between his teeth.
Amber involuntarily made a soft sound at the feeling of his teeth on her lip. She pressed up against him, kissing him harder as she moved herother hand into his hair.
William pulled away to catch his breath, breathing deeply before he took her mouth again, kissing her gently. Though he liked an occasional heated kiss, he preferred the gentle ones with Amber. It let him taste her sweetness much better. It gave him an opportunity to explore her mouth better.
William pulled her into his lap, one hand making its way to the back of her head to press their lips harder, smirking when a sound escaped her mouth.
“Will…” Amber muttered against his lips. She took a deep breath when he pulled away, then melted against him again.
“You are wonderful,” William reminded her again against her lips, giving her one last kiss before he pulled away and buried his face in her neck. “Never forget that. Never let anyone tell you otherwise.”
Amber wrapped her arms around him, hugging tightly. “Thank you… You’re amazing, too, William.”
William smirked, pulling her towards him tighter as if it was possible. “Of course. You couldn’t be more right, Blue.”
