Rio shook his head. "I'm not going to just leave. I can't.. Not when you're like this…." he said. "I'm not afraid of being hurt. And neither is my twin. So please… let us in…. let us support you… please…"
Rio shook his head. "I'm not going to just leave. I can't.. Not when you're like this…." he said. "I'm not afraid of being hurt. And neither is my twin. So please… let us in…. let us support you… please…"
"I can't. I'm not letting anyone get close to my broken edges because the closer they get, the more likely they are to get cut and I'm not hurting anyone else."
Rio sighed, "I'm not going to just leave you alone." he said. "You won't hurt me that easily.
"I'm just scared…" She wrapped her arms around herself, her gaze dropping to the floor.
Rio took a careful step forward. "What is it that you're afraid of?"
"Everything." Her arms squeezed tighter, like if she held herself tight enough, it'd stop her from coming apart at the seams.
Rio ame up to her, carefully pulling her into a hug.
Her body melted into his touch, desperate for comfort but her mind reeled backward, tugging her out of his grip. "Please…I don't want to hurt you…just leave me alone…"
Rio held onto her gently, "I want to help you. I don't care if I get hurt. I can't just leave you like this."
"But that's the thing, Rio, I do. I care if I hurt you." She pulled out of his grip again. She didn't want to be in his arms for long because then he'd break her resolve and she'd shatter.
Rio frowned when she pulled away. "It hurts more to see you like this…"
"Then leave. If you can see it then it'll hurt less."
"It' hurts more that way…. I can't just leave you when you're hurting."
"I'm always hurting. It's just more noticeable now." She wrapped her arms around herself.
Rio took a hesitant step towards her wanting to wrap her up and never let go. "Please… at least let us be there for you…"
"I don't want anyone else. It might seem better at first but then I'll just suck you into the tornado of my life and I refuse to subject anyone to that."
"What if I want to be sucked in, so I can pull you out?" asked Rio.
"Can't pull out someone that can't be saved. And also doesn't want to be saved."
"Everyone can be saved. And I think that last part is a lie."
"You don't know that." She glanced up, just enough to meet his eyes.
"I don't… but I hope to find out."
"I can't let you do that, I'll ruin you. Ruin what small peace you have."
Rio sighed. "Fiona please…. I want to help. I don't care about the cost.
"I guess you leave me no choice." It was rare she had to use her powers in the way she was about to but he left her with no other options. She powered up a light beam and shot him. It wouldn't hurt but it did push him out of the apartment. She rushed to the door. "I'm sorry Rio but I refuse to hurt anyone else." She offered a broken smile before closing the door and locking it.
Rio leaned against the wall in the hall, gaping at her. Finally he sighed. "Believe it or not you've already accomplished that.." he said sad;y/
She laid her forehead against the door and broke down, sobbing loud enough for anyone outside to hear. She shut everyone out of her heart, forcing them behind a barrier that never came down.
Rio felt tears well up when he heard her sobbing. I hope someday you'll let me in…
She hated the fact that this wasn't what she wanted. "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Get out of my head!" She fell to her knees, praying that the voices would leave her alone.
Rio knew he'd been kicked out and that he should leave, but he couldn't not whaile she sounded like she was literally breaking apart.
"Please…I don't want to be alone anymore…why do you make me do this?" She whimpered, her words mixing with her sobs.
