“Uhh…” God she was so close. It was driving me insane. My brain blanked on a reply, leaving me to gape like a fish out of water.

"I like your eyes," I decided for him, "Especially when they soften. And you do this cute thing with your mouth."
“My mouth?” I mumbled, self consciously wiping at it. “What do I do?”
I grinned. "It's hard to explain. Almost like a tick."
“Well that’s not helpful.” I tugged my lips into a bashful smile.
I think I almost kissed him right there. But in all honesty, I was afraid. I flirted, held his face in my hands, but in the end, I was a coward, scared of what a simple kiss might mean… and besides, flirting was one thing. I used to flirt, only jokingly, with quite a few people to beingskme normalcy back into my life. But all of this felt like a dream… what if the kiss brought down the earth-shaking wrath of reality?
“Ciao? Mio tesoro?” I frowned at the stressed expression that formed on Marina’s face.
Mio tesoro.
My heart began to pound in my chest. I pulled away, blushing, but still trying to force the anxious expression from my face. “Sorry.”
“Did I make you uncomfortable?” I scooted back a liftls to give her the space I assumed she needed.
I shook my head quickly. "No, no, not at all. I was just… thinking too much."
“Think of happy things. Like uh… raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.” He muttered that part, coughing a little afterwards to play it off cool.
A smile instantly curved her lips. "Could you repeat that last part for me, Mercutio?"
“Think of the happy things.” He replied with a teasing grin.
"Sing it, Mercutio," she teased softly, wiping the forlorn expression from her face. "I command you."
“You command me?” Mercutio’s grin broke into a smirk. “And what makes you think you have enough control to command me?” He drawled, amusement in his gaze.
(Lol, Mercutio. This girl renders you speechless more than half the times and you’re asking her what makes her think she can control you?)
(lmao)
"This," she said simply, and once again, moved forward until their noses were pressed together and their mouths were centimetres apart. She felt like she was walking on a tightrope; there was definite anxiety, but at the same time, a unique thrill to it.
“Oh… that.” I resisted the urge to lean forward, my breath hitching in my throat. “You… You really like doin’ that, huh?” I mumbled, red splotches painting my cheeks as I toyed with my glasses.
"Your reaction," I breathed, "Is immensely satisfying."
My heart skipped a beat at that. “It is?” I whispered back, stuck somewhere between dumbstruck and lovestruck as I tilted my head downwards to avoid her gaze.
I lifted a hand to his chin and nudged it back up, forcing him to meet my eyes. "I thought you said I had no control over you~"
“You shouldn’t.” I whispered it back. A forbidden secret even the trees weren’t allowed to hear. “But you do.” The faint murmur escaped my lips as I made eye contact with Marina. She had my heart pounding out of control in my chest, my blood coursing through my veins at a mile a minute. My girlfriend.
My lips twisted into a satisfied but flustered smile. “Good… I like it that way.”
“Course you do, Pazza.” I breathed, feeling dazed. “This has to be a dream, right? This is too… too…” I stammered, unable to focus with Marina so close.
I laughed softly and pulled away, leaving him to regain control of his senses. “If you’re like this now, what’re you going to do when I kiss you?”
I sucked in a sharp breath, leaning towards her as she pulled away. “I… I have no idea. Cry? Happy tears?” I joked, still fidgeting with my glasses. “You’re super confusing, you know that?”
“I am?” I tilted my head to one side, watching him amusedly. “How so?”
I shook my head. “You just… are.” I murmured. “You make me feel a lot at once. It’s disorienting.”
"Good confusing?" I asked softly, "Or bad confusing?"
“Good confusing. I er… just get overwhelmed.” I explained, willing myself to slowly calm down.
