"Yeah," I answered hastily, wracking my brain. "Uh—dream job?"
"Yeah," I answered hastily, wracking my brain. "Uh—dream job?"
“It’s not super interesting, but I’d love to be a writer.” I twirled a leaf in my spare hand. “You?”
“Of course that’s interesting,” I answered with a smile, “What kind of things would you write? And honestly, I don’t know. Something that has to do with music?”
“I have a thing for uh… fantasy magic type stuff.” I paused, expecting to get made fun of.
My eyes practically lit up. “Like what? Have you written any stories yet? Can I read them?”
“You want to read stuff I wrote?” I considered this for a moment. “Are you Sure. It’s not very good. I write a lot of short stories…”
“I’m sure it’s amazing,” I rushed to reassure him, more earnest than I wanted to admit. “Can I? Please?”
“I guess, I don’t see why not.” I was both excited and mortified that she wanted to see my writing. “I’ll give you my notebook soon and you can take a look.”
Grinning like an idiot, I popped a cream puff into my mouth and gave him two thumbs up.
“You’re adorable.” The smile on my face grew stronger as I watched her shove a cream puff into her mouth.
Flushing deeply, I made an attempt to hide my face behind my hands—anything to keep him from flustering me further.
“The tables have turned!” I announced playfully. “Look who’s flustered now.”
Groaning in complaint, I nudged his shin with my toe, continuing to hide my face.
I grabbed a small sandwich, eating peaceably while I allowed my gaze to rest on Marina. “I think you’re the most beautiful girl in the universe.” I added, just to watch her blush.
(Awwwwwwwwwwwww Oh my goodness so cute…….)
(glad you're enjoying it, Joy!)
I didn't think it was possible for my face to become any redder. Still, I risked a peak between my fingers, internally scrambling for something that would give me back the upper hand. "Even—Even more beautiful than Belle?"
“Way more beautiful than Belle.” I assured her, taking a slow sip from my lemonade.
I could only watch as my hastily created plan to tease him back failed, and miserably too, backfiring on me. Even more of a blushing mess than before, I turned my head away, praying her couldn't see my blush.
“Aw, don’t hide from me.” I teased, lightly tapping her on the arm.
"Stop teasing me," I mumbled bashfully in reply, "And I'll stop blushing so I can look at you again."
“What makes you think I’m teasing you?” I looked at Marina, a faint smile on my lips. “I meant every word.”
"Mercutio…" I complained, though my heartbeat only accelerated with each word he spoke. "C'mon…."
“Alright, alright.” I quieted down, focusing on eating instead. “You’re off the hook for now.”
I inhaled slowly, pressing one hand against my thundering heart until it calmed. Gradually, the red receded from my cheeks, leaving behind only a faint imprint, and I turned back to Mercutio.
I made eye contact with Marina as she finally turned around, staying silent due to the mouthful of food I had. To make up for it, I gently raised my left eyebrow, trying to convey a slightly confused “You okay?”
I gave him two thumbs up and a lopsided, if slightly shy, smile. "Yeah. You?"
“Yeah, of course.” I smiled warmly at Marina. “I like being out here.”
"So do I," I agreed, ducking my head and reaching for another cream puff before my traitorous heart could start its hopeless pattering again.
“I think it’s you’re turn to ask a question.” I replied, finishing my sandwich and laying down on the blanket.
I thought for a moment while I chewed the cream puff, enjoying the sweetness on my tongue. "What do I do that flusters you the most."
