“Ouch,” I murmured, but gave a nod. “What did you bring?”
“Ouch,” I murmured, but gave a nod. “What did you bring?”
“Mini sandwiches, donuts, and cream puffs.” I began to unpack, pulling out the food.
“Yum,” I smiled, reaching into my own basket to withdraw a large bottle of fizzy lemonade.
“The looks awesome.” I looked over at the lemonade, smiling. “I really love it out here.”
“I’ve got these, too,” I answered, pulling out a small packet of macaroons. “And yeah, it’s so… peaceful.”
“I can’t believe we’re actually here right now.” A disbelieving chuckle escaped my lips as I looked around. “The only reason I know I’m not dreaming is the hangover headache.”
I reached for his hand, smiling. “If you were dreaming, would it be a good one?”
“No, no don’t do that.” I teased, raising an eyebrow at Marina. “I’m not sappy when I’m sober.” I grinned confidently.
I took his statement as a dare and leaned in, pressing our noses together. "Are you sure about that?"
I only managed my bluff for another ten seconds before my entire face erupted into a deep cheery red. I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, turning my head to childishly look away. “You’re a nasty cheater, Pazza.”
Though my cheeks were roughly the same hue as his, my lips quickly widened to form a triumphant grin. "Oh?" I teased, "You want me to move farther away?"
“You know I don’t.” I grumbled, interlacing our fingers bashfully. “Even though your methods are unorthodox.”
I raised an eyebrow at his choice of words, still laughing. Shifting slightly, I lay my head, very tentatively, on his shoulder.
“What’re you laughing at?” I teased gently. “You’re mean.”
“You, silly,” I answered, only half-joking as I tucked my legs beneath me.
“Aren’t you supposed to be nice to people you like?” I complained, smiling gently at her. “Or is bold to assume you like me?”
“Not bold at all,” I murmured, praying my cheeks weren’t as red as I suspected.
“I like you too. A lot.” I admitted, a bashful smile forming on my lips. “I still… I can’t believe this is real.” I shook my head in wonder. “I can’t believe you pinned me down, Pazza.”
My heart thumped irregularly in my chest, sending sharp spikes of adrenaline through my body. “O-Oh. I——Oh.”
“Are you okay? I didn’t mean to trigger anything…” I reached out and gently squeezed Marina’s hand, guilt coursing through my veins.
“You didn’t,” I promised quickly, squeezing back as colour flooded my face. “That—That was a good kind of stutter.”
“Right—er…” I scratched the back of my neck in embarrassment. “Do you want to eat?” I gestured to the food awkwardly.
“Food. Right. Yes.” My brain stittered and short circuited, but the brush of Mercutio’s fingers across mine kickstarted it. I reached for the lemonade and plastic cups.
(LOL Is this Mcdonalds 'cause Im lovin it! ; ) ) (WAY better than mcdonalds btw…)
“I uh… I’m sorry if you aren’t a fan of the woods. I know it’s not exactly romantic…” I cringed at my own hesitancy. “I’m not very good at the whole, you know, dating thing.”
(Glad you like it Joy! It means a lot!)
Dating.
My heart stopped. “Are—are we dating?” I whispered, a smile overtaking my lips.
“Dating? Did I say dating? I—Uh…” I took a cautious glance at her face, feeling my heart swell with warmth at her smile. “Are we…?”
"I don't know," I said quietly, struggling to keep euphoria from overwhelming me. "It would be stupid. And dangerous. And life-threatening. But……. I think it's safe to say that I don't really care. Do you?"
“I don’t know if I… If I can treat you as well you deserve.” I admitted softly sucking in a deep breath. “I really do like you. But… But are you sure about liking me?”
