"Alrighty! Lead on, partner!" she said, grabbing her bag and phone before smiling at him and motioning towards the door.

He headed outside with her, squinting against the reflection of the sun on the city windows. "I.. need sunglasses," Peter mumbled.

She fished in her bag and pulled some out to hand to him. "Then it would do you good to stop forgetting these."

He half laughed a little, settling them on his bumped nose, "Oops."

She rolled her eyes, but her lips were smiling. "Yeah, oops."

"Hah! What'll I do without you?" Peter laughed, moving past people, making sure she didn't get lost in the crowd.

She laughed too. "I'm not sure."

"I'll be a hot mess," Peter replied cordially.

"Well, that's true," she agreed lightheartedly. "So what's the name of this bakery?"

"Mara's," Peter replied. "It's owned by this nice old lady. She calls me Pete." He laughed jovially.

"I think I've heard or it before. Always been too busy to go," she replied. He knew it was because she spent every free minute dancing.

He took a turn to open the glass door, "Yeah,"

She followed his lead.

"I got lectures all day tomorrow," Peter breathed in realization.

"Oh no, you poor thing," Violet replied, looking around and breathing in the rich scents of the bakery. "This place is awesome!"

"Go ahead, pick out something. I'll pay," well, he only had like, eight dollars. But it was Violet after all, one of his closest peers. And he was getting his paycheck tomorrow– outside of money from dance performance, Peter worked as a landscaper. Kept him busy and in shape.

"Peter, I have money," she said pointedly, giving him a look.

He half smiled sheepishly, "Okay. If you insist,"

"I do," she said firmly. "Why don't you show me around a little bit?"

"Well, the bathroom is back there," Peter replied. "Otherwise, it's not very big,"

"Well introduce me to people!" she suggested.

"I only know the owner," Peter flushed, with a sheepish, happy smile. "You know I'm not as gregarious as you,"

She rolled her eyes. "Can you at least introduce me to her then?"

"Fair enough," he smiled, skipping to the barista and requesting to see the owner.

Violet followed him and looked around the shop as he lead her.

"I'm sorry," the barista replied, setting down a cup of coffee. "Ms. Fizt is in the hospital,"

Peter blinked. "She's in the hospital…? Why?"

"Bypass surgery," she replied with a shrug of her lips.

Violet touched his arm gently. "Sorry, Peter. It's alright."

He shifted on his feet. "Well.. which hospital?"

"Saint Mary," she replied. "Why?"

"Well, I figure.. Ms. Fizt would appreciate the visit,"

Violet patiently waited.

"Ah…"

"Also," Peter laughed quietly, "I'd like a chocolate muffin, please."
