“Relatable how?” I quirked an eyebrow, hoping my questions weren’t intrusive.
“Relatable how?” I quirked an eyebrow, hoping my questions weren’t intrusive.
“Like you said,” I continued, “The girl likes to torture the boy. And the boy also teases the girl a lot.”
"Well, now that we're done, what do you want to do?" I looked around my room, my hands not touching Elle's anymore.
I quirked an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at my lips. “Well, have you ‘cooled down’, so to speak?”
I blinked owlishly at her. “I wonder,” I replied instead. “What do you think, Elle?”
I merely shrugged.
“I don’t know. Let’s cuddle?”
"We've done nothing but laze around," I said, though I had nothing against cuddling. "Should we have a change of pace, love?"
I nodded, suddenly feeling ashamed for the suggestion. “Of course, what do you want to do?”
"Practice," I replied, my hands squeezing her arms. "Come, Elle, let's practice our magic."
[TIME SKIP - Elle’s POV, the next day]
I rolled my eyes at Scylla as we climbed the stairs, deflecting her non-stop teasing with more of the same thing.
“I do not hang off him!” I protested, referring, of course, to Colton. Scylla laughed as I u locked and opened the door to our dormitory. “Sure you don’t. You definitely don’t look at him like he’s the most beautiful thing on the planet.”
“He is the most beautiful thing!”
Kaden:
"He is the most beautiful thing!" I heard Elle exclaim as she entered the dorm, and I shared a look with Andreas. How could we tell Elle what we had seen? She would be devastated…
"Hey, Elle," I tried smiling brightly. "We uh… we have something to tell you…"
I gave the pair an odd look, tossing my book bag onto the couch and plopping myself down in the arm chair. “Sure, what’s up?”
“We… we saw Colton with a woman,” Kaden blurted out. “We’re sorry. We should have told you yesterday when we saw her taking her to his room, but we didn’t know how to tell you. But don’t worry! She’s not even nearly as beautiful as you are. Her red hair is absolutely ridiculous!”
My expression of horror and disbelief melted into one of amusement, a laugh escaping from my lips. I shook my head, grinning as I whispered a few words from the library’s spellbook and cast a familiar illusion over my face.
“This red-haired woman, Kaden?”
I froze, embarrassment flowing through me as Elle turned into that woman Andreas and I saw with Colton. Illusion. She had been under an illusion.
“Wait, what?”
My grin widened as I let the illusion slip away, shaking out my hair. “I get tired of pretending to be a boy sometimes. Colton and I like to sneak into town.”
“Now I feel stupid,” I groaned. “You guys didn’t think to tell us before we caught you? We were ready to butcher him!”
Snickering, I offered a light shrug. "Slipped my mind, I guess. Sorry… please don't kill my boyfriend."
“One day, you guys are going to give me a heart attack,” I jabbed a finger on her shoulder, narrowing my eyes into slits. “Jesus Christ. I’m going to grow old quickly at this rate!”
“We wouldn’t want that, now would we?” A voice drawled from the window and I turned my head to find Colton sitting there on the ledge, an amused expression on his features.
“How did you get in here?” I exhaled deeply. Yes, I talked like that to the future king and am still alive. Deal with it.
Colton merely shrugged in reply.
My eyes lit up the moment his voice reached my ears.
"Play nice," I laughed, approaching my boyfriend and reaching out a hand to tug him down from the windowsill. "Both of you."
Instead of letting Elle pull him down, Colton ended up pulling her up, wrapping his arms around her waist and settling her on his lap. I almost pulled my hair out.
“I shouldn’t be feeling like this so early,” I muttered in horror under my breath. “The feeling of a father seeing his daughter with her boyfriend.”
“Andreas, control your boyfriend,” Colton rolled his eyes, unimpressed by my behavior. Well, gee, I wasn’t trying to impress you at all. Why did I ever cower in fear from him before? He was just a muscular, brooding idiotic moronic sandwich. If there was anything I would say to my past self, it would be to slap him and yell, ”THAT PRINCE YOU FEAR IS NOT EVEN SCARY.”
My face reddened in mortification, but even so, laughter slipped past my lips. I watched as a very amused Andreas put his arm around Kaden, chuckling.
"I'm not your daughter," I protested—and a horrifying thought occurred. "I swear to god, if you give him the talk I will murder you."
Colton quirked an eyebrow, an amused smile on his features.
“The talk?” he echoed, looking at me challengingly. “I’d very much like to see you try to talk to me about it.”
“You’re not even terrifying, Prince,” I scoffed. “I can tell you that much.”
“No?” His grin widened. “I see. I suppose you weren’t shaking because you were scared when I—“
“You know, I would love to give you the talk right now,” I cut him off. “Rule number one: always, always wear protection. Doesn’t matter if it’s uncomfortable—it’s important!”
“Wouldn’t you know about that, Kaden?” The prince replied, chuckling, shaking his head.
My face exploded into a deep, burning hue of crimson as I buried it in Colton's chest, seeking shelter from the indirect but relentless teasing. "Kaden!" Trying and failing to hide how flustered I was, I bit my lip.
Colton burst out laughing as Elle dug her face in his chest, trying to hide from me. His hands squeezed her shoulders, adoration present on his features as he looked at her.
“Funny how the one he’s giving the talk to is me and you’re the one being embarrassed,” Colton chuckled, and I noticed how he didn’t kiss her head like he used to.
I groaned loudly in complaint, burrowing deeper into his embrace. “For the love of god, Kaden, don’t continue..”
“Well, I would love to sit and listen to you educating me about sexual intercourse, Kaden, Elle and I have a class to attend,” Colton flashed me a smile, a certain edge to it. He pulled himself to his feet with Elle in his arms and jumped down from the window ledge, making his way towards the door before he finally set her down.
I breathed a sigh of relief, but paused before Colton could usher me out the door. “You—“ I pointed towards Kaden and Andreas. “And you, Colton, are going to be nice to each other. No side comments. No talks. No acting all high and mighty—cough Colton cough—around each other.” I sighed, crossing my arms. “I want my boys to get along, alright?”
Colton quirked an eyebrow.
“High and mighty?” He repeated, as if amused by his girlfriend’s words. “Me? Have I ever heen high and mighty before?”
I snorted under my breath. He directed his eyes towards me. I shifted.
I flicked his nose. “Yes. The sarcastic drawls. None of those. Be friendly to each other, or there will be consequences. No kisses for Colton, and no… no… no Andreas for Kaden.”
