“Don’t be,” he shook his head, making his way towards the door. “Go drink water and eat a painkiller.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber looked up at him from between her fingers. He wasn't upset? Why wasn't he upset that she'd made him sleep with her?

"Sure. I'll do that," she said quietly, pushing herself to her feet to do just that.

William nodded and walked out of the room, making his way into the bathroom. He made sure to grab a painkiller, setting it on the table before he locked himself in.

Once he was inside, William finally released a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. What was going on with him? His mind was racing in different directions and he was going crazy, but it wasn’t anger he was feeling. It wasn’t anger that was causing him to be like this. It wasn’t love, either, so what was it? Shouldn’t he be irritated at having to sleep with her? Shouldn’t he be throwing a fit like usual? What was so different about this?

Shaking his head, William went about his business, hoping that by washing his face, he could get rid of whatever it was that was eating him inside out.

Amber steppes out of her room and glanced toward the bathroom. The door was shut, so William must be in there. She wondered if he'd set out— Oh, he had. There was a pill on the table, easily recognizable as one of the painkillers they had in the bathroom.

She picked it up and took it with her to the kitchen, where she poured herself a glass of water. After swallowing the medicine and drinking the whole glass of water, she sat down at the table. Her arms were crossed in front of her, and she laid her head in them with a small groan.

Gosh, what was wrong with her? She should be upset that she'd even just shared a bed with William, but… For some reason, she wasn't… She was more upset that she'd been drunk and made him sleep with her than she was with him in her bed. He'd actually been a comforting presence in her sleep, his outbursts all but forgotten.

William exited the bathroom, finding Amber sitting at the table, her face in her hands. He furrowed his eyebrows. Was she really that upset? He knew she would be, but to that extent? He ran a hand through his hair before making his way over slowly, taking a seat opposite to hers.

“Feeling better?” He questioned, letting his head rest on his arm. He wanted to talk to her about her drinking habits, but for now things needed to be taken slowly.

Amber slowly looked up at William before sighing and sitting up straight.

"Not really…" she admitted quietly. "I really am sorry I made you share my bed. You could have just said no…"

“You were crying,” he muttered in reply, closing his eyes. “How could I have said no? I’m not completely heartless, Blue.”

How could I have said no to you?

He shook that thought away.

“Actually, I rather enjoyed it,” William offered her a sly smile, cocking his head to the side. Though he meant to say it in a sarcastic way, it wasn’t a lie. “The smell of alcohol wasn’t exactly convenient, though.”

Amber groaned and buried her face in her hands again. Why was he doing this to her? Did he want something out of it? No, that didn't seem like William… More likely, he was just torturing her for fun.

"What do you want, William?" she sighed eventually. "I apologized for it. You certainly won't have to do it again."

“Stop drinking,” William sighed, biting back from saying something suggestive. “Trust me, you won’t get anything out of it. You’re ruining yourself and you aren’t even realizing it.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber looked back up at him with tired, sad eyes. Could she do that? She didn’t even know anymore. It would take a lot of work to just quit, now… And she would probably need some help.

“I’m going to need help with that, I think,” she admitted in a whisper without meeting his eyes. “I don’t know if I can do it on my own…”

William looked at her, taking his bottom lip in his mouth.

“I’ll help,” he murmured before he could stop himself. “You said whatever we’re doing helps you get rid of a little pain. Then do it. Use me or whatever if it makes things bearable. Stay near me so I can watch over you.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber winced at his wording, shaking her head slowly. “I hate that term… I hate using people just for my own benefit,” she murmured. “Just… make sure I don’t go to any parties.”

Deleted user

“You…” William murmured, unconsciously reaching out for her hand. “Are going to be okay. Things can get tough sometimes, but you can’t let them bring you down. Alcohol may seem like the best solution, but it’s not. It’s the worst.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber looked over at their hands, his larger one holding her smaller one. She sighed and looked up at him, that calm and fierce determination in her eyes. She would quit, and she would do it with his help.

“Thank you… I— Thank you,” she sighed.

When William realized he was holding her hand, he knew at this point he should let go. He didn’t want to, so he kept holding on to it, pretending as if he was still unaware.

The fierce determination in her eyes made him nod in approval.

“Good,” he rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb. Would she pull it away?

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber tensed a little as his thumb rubbed her skin, though she didn’t move her hand. She simply looked across the table at her dormmate, cocking her head to her left only enough that it was barely perceptible. Whatever they were doing, they were either going to end up actually getting together (yeah right) or getting destroyed by each other. Neither of which really seemed like a great option at the moment…

“Breakfast?” she suggested in a voice that was hardly above a whisper.

Deleted user

At her voice, William stopped. His grip loosened on her hand and he waited for her to pull away.

“Yeah,” he breathed out, confused by his own behavior and Amber’s. Why wasn’t she pulling away? “Breakfast sounds good. I can help.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Oh. Sure. Uh… Do pancakes sound good?” They were the only breakfast food that came to mind, if she was being honest. “I know we have everything for those.”

Deleted user

“Sounds good,” he nodded, though he knew he could barely help. Kitchen work agitated him, especially anything difficult. She had let to remove her hand from his.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber nodded, glanced down at their hands again for a moment, and then slowly stood, thereby removing her hand from his grip. It was already cold…

And she was so far gone. Crap.

William’s eyes flashed to his hand and then to Amber’s, but he pushed himself off of his seat. There was no use in overthinking. He was going crazy, he knew it. He shouldn’t let this continue. Both of them were hurting and adding another wound to it would not be ideal.

William wiped his slate clean.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber stepped into the kitchen and looked around for a moment. She sighed, then turned back around to face William, her gaze flickering over him for a moment.

Should she ask? No, there was no reason for her to… But she still wanted it…

Noticing her gaze on him, William turned his attention towards her, raising an eyebrow.

“Is there something you want to say?” He questioned, trying to keep his voice casual.

Deleted user

William noticed where her eyes stared and fought to keep his expression neutral. He walked towards her slowly, stopping when he was in front of her.

“Is there something you want to do?” He leaned down, quirking an eyebrow.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Amber hummed affirmation and stood up on her toes to press their lips together. The gentle kisses were nice, like this one. They made it seem more like they weren’t just using each other for this, but that they might actually have feelings for each other.

Deleted user

William leaned down a bit more, giving her better access to his mouth. His eyes closed and he gently kissed her back, hand reaching out to cup her cheek, their lips moving together.

Every time he said they shouldn’t be doing this, that’s exactly what they end up doing. He should be stopping this, but he wasn’t. He wanted this. Why, he didn’t know. He just couldn’t help but want the feeling of her lips pressed against his and the taste of her mouth not taken over by alcohol.
