I grinned. “I’ll bring some of those then. And drinks. Do you like strawberry lemonade?”
I grinned. “I’ll bring some of those then. And drinks. Do you like strawberry lemonade?”
“Raspberry is better, but I suppose I can make a sacrifice and settle for strawberry.” I joked quietly, still worried about getting yelled at by Joe.
I opened my mouth to speak, but was interrupted by the pillow Joe had hurled across the room. “Whisper, goddammit,” he grumbled good-naturedly, “I don’t want to hear about your date right now.”
I smiled sheepishly, mumbling a “Sorry!” To Joe and trying not to laugh.
I chuckled softly and rubbed at my eyes, more tired than I wanted to admit.
“We should probably get some rest.” I whispered, letting out a yawn.
I hesitated a moment before nodding. Giving his hand one last squeeze, I pulled away, got to my feet, and carried my sleeping bag to the far corner of the room. “Gnjght….”
I squeezed Marina’s hand back. “Night, Pazza.” I ignore the sinking feeling in my chest as she moved away from me.
I lowered myself carefully into the sleeping bag and closed my eyes. A few seconds passed…. and I was out cold.
I didn’t fall asleep for awhile. It was hard to, being in a foreign territory. At some point I tired out and drifted off to sleep, fighting off a hangover.
I awoke the next morning to Joe’s alarm——which he’d purposely set louder than normal to wake us all up. At first, I was disoriented. Where am I?
But when the memories came rushing back, I sat bolt upright, pulling the sleeping bag over my chest.
I groaned at the sound of the alarm, throughly hungover. I hid inside the sleeping bag, curling up into a defensive ball.
Joe, who had just rolled out of bead, grunted a greeting. My eyes flickered to Mercutio, barely awake, and a smile formed on my lips.
I heard Joe awaken, his footsteps heavier than Marina’s and closer to me. “Don’t kick me.” My voice came out gruff and raspy. With another groan I burrowed deep underneath the cover of the sleeping bag.
Joe raised an eyebrow at the dazed smile on my face. Colour rushed to my cheeks. He winked and crouched, shaking Mercutio's shoulder. "Up. Now. This is non-negotiable, don't keep your girlfriend waiting."
(Ohhhhhhhhhhh my word this is too amazing. I was gone for like a week and I just read all this you guys it's soooooooo amazing!!!!!!!!)
(welcome back, Joy, and thank you so much!)
I managed another soft groan, forcing myself into a sitting position. "I'm up. Just don't hit me." I croaked blearily, rubbing at my eyes. "Ah, fuck. Headache." I rasped again, raking my hands through the bedraggled curls forming a warped halo around my forehead. A little heat rushed to my cheeks as Joe's words finally sunk in, causing me to flush pink. "She's not my girlfriend yet." I added indignantly.
(oml thank you so much Joy! I've been writing most of the day so I haven't been around! Sorry!)
“Yet,” he muttered, turning away.
I was too busy ogling at his adorable bedhead and sleepy expression to confirm or deny the statement.
I finally opened my eyes and immediately squinted. I ignored the panicked lurch in my stomach, feeling around blindly with my hand until I felt the cool plastic of my glasses. With a sigh of relief I slid them on, blinking a couple times to adjust my eyes to the presence of light. My eyes were drawn to Marina like a magnet. I offered her a shy wave, rasping out a tentative, "Mornin' Pazza."
I raised a cautious hand to return the gesture. “How—How did you sleep?”
"Good." I smiled awkwardly, not really prepared to deal with the influx of warmth rising in my chest this early in the morning. Then there were the memories rushing back from yesterday and, well- holy shit. I averted my eyes from her gaze out of shame, suddenly overcome with the urge to fling my useless human corpse out the window as fast as possible.
After a lengthy night’s rest, it was safe to say that I had been restored to my normal (if slightly more bashful) self. I grinned, training my eyes on the floor.
When Joe saw the blush on my face, he groaned. “Right. I’ll be right back with breakfast and a change of clothes for both of you, stay put.”
"Will do." I leaned forward, stretching out my arms and then my back like a cat. I eventually stretched out until I was lying flat on my stomach, glasses pushed slightly askew on the bridge of my nose. I immediately shut my eyes again, trying to soak of a few extra minutes of sleep.
(Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww)
I tentatively rose from my sleeping back, crouching next to Mercutio. “Hey, sleepyhead. Up.”
“My head hurts…” I whined softly, keeping my eyes firmly shut. “I like it here.”
I placed a hand on his shoulder, than moved it to brush a lock of hair behind his ear. “C’mon, Asshole~”
I leaned into Marina’s gentle touch, grumbling incoherently as I sat up, my eyes firmly shut still.
