Amber grunted and rubbed at her head. When word those meds work?
“I’m not in the mood right now,” she muttered, taking another sip.
Amber grunted and rubbed at her head. When word those meds work?
“I’m not in the mood right now,” she muttered, taking another sip.
“Hadn’t realized that,” William shook his head, brushing past her to put his slice of bread in the toaster.
“Forget what happened last night,” Amber murmured around her cup. “Please.”
William turned to look at Amber, who hadn’t looked up from her cup.
“Forget about what?” He quirked an eyebrow, knowing full well what she meant. He just felt like being a jerk, especially after what frustration she made him go through.
Amber looked over her cup, glaring at him. “You know exactly what I mean. I’m not saying it.”
William returned her glare with one of his own.
“You mean when you kissed me,” he hummed, pretending as if he just remembered. “All right, Blue. If that makes you feel better, I’ll pretend last night never happened.”
Amber cringed at the mention of it. Gosh, he really knew how to tick someone off, didn’t he?
“It would be much appreciated,” she muttered with another sip of her water.
“Perfect,” he offered her a sly smile, taking out butter from the fridge and pushing her aside so he could grab the butter knife. He quickly smeared butter on his toast and leaned against the counter, taking a small bite out of it.
Amber sighed and refilled her glass again. After another sip of it, she brushed past William. She needed to sleep this headache off… Good thing it was Sunday and she didn’t have any classes.
William watched her walk off, an amused smile on his features. She was annoyed, wasn’t she? Good. Excellent. Finishing his toast, he pulled himself off of the counter he was leaning on to get to his room. He was tired and he needed to get some shut-eye. Everything be damned till he wakes up.
[TIME SKIP: Midnight, Monday 10, December]
William growled in anger when the ball missed the hoop again, bouncing away like the first few tries. He knew he was rushing things—he was tired, too, and had been practicing for hours even after the official practice had ended.
Finally, the male decided to stop. Looking around, he realized it was dark. He furrowed his eyebrows—what time was it? Shaking his head, he grabbed his ball and made his way home. Right before he entered, he heard a scream and the shatter of a glass, and bolted inside.
“Frick. Gosh dang it,” Amber muttered, trembling as she leaned back against the wall. She slid down it and sat on the floor, burying her face in her hands.
Why did it have to be a spider? Especially now, right after that dream… Gosh, she hated that dream. It kept coming back. Just when she thought it was finally gone, it would come back.
William furrowed his eyebrows when he saw Amber on the floor, trembling, face in her hands. There was a broken glass just on the side. Did she get hurt?
“Blue?” He quirked an eyebrow, walking over to her and sitting down to her level. “Are you okay?”
“No… Buzz— Buzz off, William,” Amber muttered, her voice shaking just as much as she was. He just had to come home when this happened… Great.
William sighed and stood up, walking over to get the broom and dust pan. He quickly cleaned the broken shards and discarded them before putting away the broom. He made his way towards Amber again.
“What’s wrong?” He questioned.
“Don’t want to talk about it,” Amber mumbled, pulling her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. She buried her face in her knees and wished he would leave her alone… Or that he wouldn’t. She didn’t even know anymore…
William sighed right before he bent down to scoop the girl in his arms, straightening himself and making his way to the couch where he set her down. He didn’t even know what he was doing—she clearly didn’t want him here, so what was he doing? Though he was exhausted and tired, he ended up taking a seat next to her, throwing his head back.
Amber sighed and peeked out at William, her eyebrows drawn together in confusion. “What are you doing, William?” she asked tiredly.
“Sitting next to you,” he muttered the obvious answer, ignoring her eyes on him. “What do you think?”
“Why?” Amber questioned, her arms tightening slightly around herself. “You could have just left me there…”
“Left you scared?” William repeated, finally looking at her. He sighed. “Does it really matter?”
“Yes…” Amber sighed in response to his first question. To his second… she had no answer…
“No,” William muttered, folding his arms together and closing his eyes. He opened them again to reach out for the blanket they keep on the couch, tossing it towards Amber.
Amber hummed her thanks and wrapped the blanket around herself. She let her eyes fall shut, resting her forehead on her knees again. No matter how weird this was, she was tired and needed to go back to sleep. Being alone in her room right now wouldn’t end well…
William looked at Amber as she snuggled into the blanket, her head in her knees. After staring for a few minutes, William shook his thoughts away. It wouldn’t do him any good to think about her right now. Throwing his head back, William closed his eyes.
Amber woke up in the morning spread across the couch. She pushed herself up and saw that, once again, she had fallen asleep on William’s shoulder… Why did his keep happening? Why didn’t one of them ever move before this happened?
William stirred in his sleep, feeling the lack of warmth he had fallen asleep to. He blinked his eyes open. Immediately, Caroline came into his view when he was greeted by blue hair, but he immediately shook the thought away. Not Caroline. Amber. This happened twice.
He heaved a sigh.
“Why?” He muttered, mostly to himself.
Amber sighed and rubbed at her face, ignoring his quietly spoken question. She shook her head, stood, and glanced down at William. After opening her mouth to say something, she realized she really had nothing to say and shut it again.
William leaned forward and rubbed the back of his neck before he stood up. He returned Amber’s gaze.
Shaking his head, he brushed past her into his room. He had class in an hour or two, and he needed to shower. Most of all, he wanted to get away from that girl.
Amber sighed and made her way to her own room. Upon closing the door, she laid down in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. This whole thing was just… a confusing mess… He helped her when she was scared, fell asleep on the couch with her, and he didn’t even comment on either of them…
