Oh, yeah, shit like Papa Roach and Tool, too

TOOL! Those guys and Primus do psychedelic/cerebral rock really well.

Hells yeah. My favourite by them is The Pot. I have a video my mum took of me as a three year old singing it.

@houdini

i listen to basically every genre, but at the moment my favorite band is (twenty one pilots) marianas trench. currently i'm listening to their desperate measures:

Mine's gotta be 46 & 2, mostly because it's so damn fun to play on bass.

I've been meaning to learn to play bass for a while. Have you seen the O'Keefe cover of 46 & 2?

My taste in music changes every 5 seconds, but it usually stays within the Vocaloid, Kpop, and EDM genres. Although, I don't know if Vocaloid can be classified as a genre considering it's a synthesizer program

anyone who knows about synthesizer programs would know what a midi keyboard/controller is

No way, since when???

Since like 20 minutes ago :D

Also, question: do you consider musicians writers?

I'd say yes, just a different kind of writers. (Like, poets and screenwriters are also writers, but write very differently). Writing sheetmusic is a skill that's always eluded me, but I'd love to pick up someday – and people who write sheetmusic (and/or lyrics) are most definitely writers. :)

That's awesome! I'll move this topic there, then, thanks for creating that!

And I'm glad. I kinda felt left out because most people on here are poets or write short stories/novels. I do that too, but not as often as I write sheet music, and I've started writing lyrics a lot lately and turning my story ideas into songs rather than novels

@Tiani

Hey guys thought I’d pop in to say hello. My taste is just kind of everything. Like literally everything. I listen to Billie Eilish, Tyler the creator and BTS but I’m a sucker for 2000’s rnb and hip hop as well as some classical and lo-fi. Don’t mind some rock and EDM every now and again. Send your music recommendations or songwriting problems my way. I’m always happy to chat

@Relsey-TheElder

Music is honestly the coolest thing ever, it's literally math that everyone understands with out trying, sure when you dig deeper it's really confusing but really it's math that everyone enjoys.

@Yamatsu

It's fun watching people's brains explode when they look into Progressive Rock and those damn time signatures. I still have trouble figuring out Barracuda by the band Heart.

@SaltyLasagna

Off topic but I'm singing a solo for a small spring concert next month. I'll probably be playing my ukulele with it.
Song options

  • Lost Boy by Ruth B (my teacher suggested this bc it's in my range and a lot of people know it)
  • House of Gold by Twenty One Pilots (a favorite of mine, but a bit more difficult to play and higher pitched so I have to strain)
  • Riptide by Vance Joy (easy and popular, but I'm not really into the song)
  • This is Home by Cavetown (another favorite, but kinda sad)

Thoughts? Any advice?

@SaltyLasagna

Fuck I was gonna go grab my uke to play the two and see which one sounded best with my voice but guess who can't find their ukulele
