"One, you're not a disaster." said Silver flatly, "Two, yes I meant it, you're adorable"
"One, you're not a disaster." said Silver flatly, "Two, yes I meant it, you're adorable"
Aurelius looked over his shoulder to the tree. it was black with decay and still smoldering.
"I think that tree would beg to differ on the disaster part, but I appreciate it."
A light flush of color flooded his cheeks.
Silver glanced at the tree, "Honestly that sort of thing is impressive if you look at it right…" he said, his eyes flicking back to Aurelius, "And now you're even more adorable with that pink."
"Oh, come on," Aurelius protested, "You're killing me over here! It's not my fault I'm so pale that I blush easily. Besides, I'm certainly not used to compliments like that. You can't blame me…"
"hey I'm pale too!" said Silver, "You don't see me blushing at every little compliment. Besides, you just get more adorable by the minute!"
Aurelius let out a breath.
"Okay, so what now, then? I'm still not completely sure of your intent."
"Hmm….." said Silver, "Well seeing as I'm still on the ground, unable to do much… that's more or less up to you"
That’s not what I meant…
“Yeah, um… I’m not sure.”
Aurelius started to stand up. He felt a little off, but steady enough to walk back.
“The question is, can I help you?”
Silver sighed, carefully pushing himself up to a sitting position, "You sure you're in good enough shape to walk back? I took us pretty far out…"
"Yeah, I think so. I might have to take a couple of short breaks on the way back, but I should be able to make it," Aurelius said, "I'm tougher than I seem. But um… what about you?"
Silver rolled his eyes, shifting to shakily get to his paws, "I'll be alright… though I doubt we'll get back before dark…"
"That's okay. We might worry a few people, but we'll get back eventually. Besides, I can see in the dark. It's one of the perks of having this bizarre, destructive magic," Aurelius said, "As long as we make it back unscathed, it's fine."
Aurelius went to pick up Silver's bag and put back in a few flowers that had fallen out when he had thrown it earlier. He slung it over his shoulder.
Silver nodded, "You're not the only one who can see in the dark…" said Silver, "Don't forget I'm primarily a Luna element. My strength will come back as the moon rises."
"Oh, that's good," Aurelius replied, "I figured there was something to that."
He stretched a little bit to maybe work out some of the aching in his muscles, but it stayed.
"Well… let's start walking, I guess. We don't have to go fast."
Silver nodded, trying to stay steady as he followed Aurelius. "Sheesh it's been along time since I drained my reserves like that…."
"Sorry about that," Aurelius said, "It maybe won't happen again…"
He sighed. "Well, it probably will, but whatever."
He looked over his shoulder to make sure Silver was okay. The half-wolf looked tired, but there wasn't a lot he could do about that.
"Don't worry too much…" said Silver, "Like I said, It'll be fine when the moon rises"
"Okay," Aurelius said, continuing to lead the way.
They had come really far out… Aurelius knew in the back of his mind, but it was only now sinking in.
"Who do you think those guys were?" he asked, "Spies? Or do you think they were only trying to kill or capture us? Either way, we definitely need to report whatever happened."
Silver blinked for a moment, he'd almost forgotten about the attack, "Yeah… we definitely need to report them," he said, padding a little faster to keep pace, "I think they were probably spies, maybe assassins out to kill the leader……"
"Poor lads didn't know what they were walking into," Aurelius said with a laugh, "But uh… it's still concerning. I hope they were completely alone."
Silver laughed, "you're right on that" he said, they were definitely unprepared. And they were probably alone, but we can't say if they weren't scouts for a larger force."
“That’s… that’s my guess,” Aurelius said, “But we should probably keep an eye out for anyone else anyway.”
Silver nodded, "And we will, but our top focus is getting as far as we can before nightfall."
"Well, of course, but I would very much like to live," Aurelius replied, "If they were to strike first, we might not have a chance of winning as we are."
"Hey" Silver nudged him lightly, "I can still use aura magic if I have to, and that bag has a lot more than just healing herbs." he said, "We'll be fine until we get back."
"I think I could, too, but it would be really nice if we didn't have to go there," Aurelius said.
He picked up his pace, just a tiny bit.
Silver sighed, "you're cute when you're paranoid."
"So I'm always cute, then?" Aurelius poked back. "…But it's especially hard not to be paranoid when I got shot in the arm earlier. Had it been a bit farther over, I absolutely could've died."
"Not always, sometimes you're adorable." said Silver, "And don't worry about what-if's you'll freak yourself out."
"Well, that's why uh… the thing happened earlier. I got that out of my system already, I think," Aurelius said, "Still a little unnerving, but I'm fine now. It wouldn't be the closest I've been to death. Not by a long shot."
He cast a glance back at Silver. "Say, how do you get your hair to be so soft? It's very nice, you know."
