“Of course….” I murmured, tangling our legs. After a moment, I cleared my throat and broke out into a drowsy, slightly slurred song. “Wise men say… only fools rush in… But I can’t help.. falling in love with you~”

I smiled as her sweet voice filled my ears, and closed my eyes, resting my forehead against hers.
[TIME SKIP: THREE DAYS]
Colton’s POV:
Today, I suggested we take a break. I’d been training Elle nonstop for the past two days—especially after what Altair told us. I wanted the two of us to be prepared.
In the meantime, I also made sure to request leave from the Academy. Apparently, I was taking out ‘Elliot’ for a lesson. The king didn’t question me, nor did he stop me.
“How is your practice with the spells coming along?” I questioned Elle, eyes closed, leaning against a tree in the garden of the Academy.
Elle’s POV
I only grinned in response, despite the fact that Colton couldn’t see my expression. Facing away from him, I closed my eyes, murmured a few words, let magic flood myself system. Beside me, Scylla began to glow.
I could feel my features changing, rearranging themselves, and when I looked over at Colton, I looked like a younger mirror image of his father. “How do you think?”
I stared at her wide-eyed. Despite knowing who she was… being that close to someone who looked like a carbon copy for my father freaked me out.
“Oh my god,” I breathed out. “Okay, you did well. Now cancel the illusion!”
(My discord is glitching, jsyk)
I let a soft laugh slip, mischief sparkling in my eyes. “Fine, fine…”
The illusion melted away, returning my face to its normal state. “Better?”
I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Never do that again," I warned her. "Do not turn into my father again. That nearly gave me a heart attack."
"Sorry…" I murmured, suddenly afraid that he was serious. "I won't. I promise. Sorry."
I ruffled her hair, smiling at her.
"I meant, it was really like seeing both myself and my father, and that freaked me out because it was the exact copy," I corrected myself. "If I didn't know you had cast an illusion, I would have thought you really were my father."
I quickly pulled away, glancing around to see if anyone had seen the gesture of affection.
"Right, yeah. I suppose it'll work to our advantage.."
I quirked an eyebrow at her behavior but didn't dwell much on it. I knew she was being careful.
"You did it so well, though," I murmured. "I think you're a professional at mimicking my father. You mastered his look amazingly."
I flushed lightly, feeling a rush of pride. “Thank you… it’ll serve us both well. When can we leave?”
"If you want, we can leave right now," I said to her. "I want to be able to spend a day with you out in the open."
“Yes,” I breathed, my grin bright enough to rival the sun, “Please.”
I smiled back, happy with her response.
"We'll have to choose an alias," I said softly. "What do you wish to be called?"
I thought about it for a moment, pushing unruly curls out of my forehead. “I’ll be… Isabella. I’ve always liked that name.”
I leaned against the tree, letting out a scoff.
"Elle is much better," I murmured, crossing my arms. "I'll go by Noah, then. Did you know I was originally going to be named Noah?"
“But ‘Isabella’ has my name in it!” I protested, before allowing a smile to overtake my lips. “Really?”
I shook my head, choosing to flick her on the forehead.
"Yes. My father preferred Noah, but my mother liked Colton," I explained. "In the end, they chose Colton."
“Colton suits you better,” I decided after a moment, rising to my feet with a lopsided smile. “Now come on, let’s go!”
I rose to my feet, laughing, shaking my head.
“All right, contain yourself,” I teased. “Don’t rush too much.”
I spun around, not caring who was watching. “I’m going to braid flowers into your hair—And I’m going to—“
I chuckled at her enthusiasm in amusement.
“Come on, let’s go,” he said to her. “We don’t want to waste time, do we?”
I barely resisted the urge to grab his hand and pull him towards the stables.
When we were finally in a carriage of our own, curtains drawn, a solid wall separating us from the driver, I finally dared to kiss him. It was messy and charged with energy, but sweet nonetheless—I couldn’t wait to have him hold me in public.
I kissed her back, my hand resting on the back of her neck. I loved it when she took charge like this—kissing me with love and adoration, and though it was messy, I loved it all the same.
“Can’t wait to hold your hand in public,” I murmured quietly so the driver couldn’t hear.
“Neither can I,” I whispered, grinning as I pushed my newly-healed fingers into his hair. “I swear, I’m going to get out of this carriage andthe first thing I’m going to do is kiss you.”
I leaned into her touch, eyes closed, a fond smile on my features. “Not so fast, love,” I teased her. “The illusion, remember?”
“Yeah, yeah..” I murmured, kissing him again. “Can we have a picnic? Did you bring money? I should have brought—I forgot it at home—“
I interrupted her by taking her lips on mine, gently moving my mouth against hers.
“I have,” I murmured. “I… didn’t think of a picnic, but I did plan on taking you for dinner and the likes. There’s a lot of things I wanted to try out.”
I melted against him, letting a contented sigh slip. “We can do whatever you want… anything at all..”
